Reno Co. Sheriff, KBI investigating body found near Nickerson

Reno County Sheriff Randy Henderson said the body was discovered a little before 2 p.m. Tuesday. He said the body is that of an unknown white female.

Henderson said she was wearing dark, athletic clothing and had numerous tattoos.

Authorities tell the Hutch Post the it appeared the body had been in the creek for several days.

So far, it's unknown if foul play was involved.

Would it be possible she was out for a run and fell into the creek, accidentally drowning?

I dunno. That creek doesn't look like it has much water in it. (Changed my reply -- I was thinking of the woman found in the lake in VA.)

Henderson said she was wearing dark, athletic clothing and had numerous tattoos. The tattoos include four paw prints, possibly wolf tracks on the left forearm. A tattoo on the woman's calf is that of a vine with colored start, Henderson said.

Henderson said residence in the area advised that earlier in the day, they observed two blue pickup trucks a white Dodge Magnum and three individuals at the bride near the creek bed where the woman's body was found.

Henderson said investigators would like to speak with the people at the bridge.

As the investigation continued, a lead was developed on a possible suspect. Just before 1 a.m., 911 dispatchers received a call of a disturbance at a home in the 800 block of North Van Buren - the address of the suspect in the case.

That call led to a fatal officer-involved shooting.

Wow. That's a bit of excitement in old Hutch town.

Earlier this month:

http://salinapost.com/2016/03/08/he...in-death-of-woman-found-in-reno-co-creek-bed/

A Kansas woman charged with first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit first-degree murder and aggravated intimidation of a witness was bound over for trial after a preliminary hearing.

Jamie Hatfield, 27, is accused in the death of 38-year-old Mary Ann Arnett...

H.J. also testified that after they removed the body from the home, she was ordered by Hatfield to clean up the blood or she might be next... She also testified she talked to Hatfield after they got rid of the body where she stated that the victim wasn’t dead, so they had to strangle her some more at the creek near Nickerson.

Hatfield is scheduled to be arraigned on April 4.
