Different local law enforcement agencies and a missing persons group spent the weekend searching areas in Georgetown and Charleston counties for missing New York teen Brittanee Drexel after Georgetown County authorities received a new tip, said Monica Caison, founder of the Community United Effort Center for Missing Persons.

Caison said authorities and those with the CUE Center spent Friday, Saturday, and Sunday searching by the north Santee River in Georgetown County and some areas in Charleston County.

Nothing of significance was found, said Caison, who took Drexel's mother, Dawn Drexel, around to areas they searched after Dawn Drexel flew into the area from New York Thursday. Caison said authorities and the CUE group plan to continue their search efforts Monday.

Drexel, who disappeared April 25, was last seen leaving the Blue Water Hotel on Ocean Boulevard in Myrtle Beach.

A cell phone belonging to Drexel, who was 17 at the time of her disappearance, gave off its last known signal the night of April 26 in the area around U.S. 17 and the South Santee River in Georgetown County, authorities said.

Members of the Georgetown County Sheriff's Office, Myrtle Beach Police Department, Horry County dive team, and the Charleston County Sheriff's Office were involved in this weekend's search, Caison said. South Carolina and CUE Center search dogs were also involved, Caison said.

A hard material discovered during a search for missing spring breaker Brittanee Drexel that piqued interest Sunday afternoon is not bone, the authorities said Monday.

Special dive teams have reassembled Monday morning along a section of the North Santee River in Georgetown County and will continue diving for signs of Brittanee Drexel.

The efforts began here Friday afternoon after Georgetown County investigators received a new tip in the case of Drexel who vanished April 25 from Ocean Boulevard in Myrtle Beach.

Search teams have been scouring a portion of South Carolina near the Santee River for four straight days for any sign of 18-year-old Brittanee Drexel.

On Sunday, searchers found something of interest, possibly a bone fragment, but so far authorities are not commenting on the discovery.

"That's correct, they did find something," Dawn Drexel, Brittanee Drexel's mother, told News 10 NBC. "And right now they sent it over to be tested to see what it was."

A missing persons group searched for Brittanee Drexel after Georgetown County authorities got a new tip. Dawn Drexel, Brittanee Drexel's mother, took part in the searches this weekend and spoke with News 10 NBC this morning.

"I'm hopeful that Brittanee is still out there, where we can find her," Dawn Drexel said. "But you have to face the other fact, too, that she may not be alive. We're hoping for the best."

Back in Chili, Brittanee Drexel's boyfriend, John Grieco remains hopeful that he will one day see his girlfriend.

"If you watch the news you can see that people are found," Grieco said today. "Cold cases like this one are re-opened and people are found."

Monica Caison with the Community United Effort Center for Missing Persons says she took Dawn Drexel to areas in the search for her daughter over the weekend and planned to continue Monday.

Caison says they worked Friday, Saturday and Sunday looking by the Santee River in Georgetown County and in some parts of Charleston County.

Drexel was last seen April 25 leaving a Myrtle Beach hotel. The last signal from her cell phone came the next night near the South Santee River.

Police, sheriff's deputies and a dive team helped with the latest search.

Dawn Drexel says she's exhausted but determined to follow up on every tip.

"The holidays are coming up and it's just really, really difficult," Drexel told News 10NBC. "We're in this until the end. And we're not going to stop looking for my daughter."

Another widespread search for Drexel is planned for January 9.

The family of missing Chili teen Brittanee Drexel received words of encouragement this weekend.

Saturday night, Ed Smart joined the Drexel family at the 25th annual gala for the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

"I don&#8217;t think parents can give up hope," Smart said.

&#8220;It helps to be around people who have either been through it or are going through it," Dawn Drexel, Brittanee's mother, said.

A new tip has reignited the search effort in Georgetown County for missing spring breaker Brittanee Drexel who vanished from Ocean Boulevard in April.

While Georgetown County investigators won't elaborate on the new tip, it was enough to bring in cadaver dogs, special dive teams and search crews.

The efforts began Friday when two cadaver dogs from the CUE Center for Missing Persons were brought in to work an area along the North Santee River.

The divers called the search for the day around 3:00 Sunday afternoon, but they are scheduled to return Monday morning.

Rochester News 10 today at 6 am are still reporting that a bone fragment was found. Now unless this is new finding after yesterdays search or they are still reporting old news !
... But boy they sure were on top of the women who was taken to the hospital at 2:30 in the morning from T.Woods home.

I saw that too LOL Rochester is so lame they are 24 hours behind Myrtle Beach and steal there news from others sites can't do there own leg work. I totally agree on the tiger woods stuff though, I guess it's all about how rich you are or what's the "popular" thing to report on.

A new tip has reignited the search effort in Georgetown County for missing spring breaker Brittanee Drexel who vanished from Ocean Boulevard in April.
While Georgetown County investigators won't elaborate on the new tip, it was enough to bring in cadaver dogs, special dive teams and search crews.
The efforts began Friday when two cadaver dogs from the CUE Center for Missing Persons were brought in to work an area along the North Santee River.
The dogs, specifically trained to detect human remains, spent a couple of hours on and around a 25-foot dock that juts into the river.
Once those dogs were done working, the CUE Center requested a third and fourth cadaver dog to search the same area, but those dogs didn't arrive until Saturday. Myrtle Beach detectives -- the lead agency in the investigation -- also arrived on Saturday.
The second set of dogs searched the same wooded and swampy area but concentrated around the waters of the same dock which sits in an alcove of the river.
The dogs' work produced further developments which prompted police and searchers to request a dive team, CUE Center found Monica Caison said.
Members of the Horry County Fire Rescue's dive team suited up around 10:30 Sunday morning, and the three divers worked for close to four hours.
Around 11:45 a.m., one of the divers found some sort of hard material that piqued interests among the group of searchers and law enforcement.
No one at the scene could definitively classify what it was, but it will be sent to the Medical University of South Carolina on Monday morning to determine if it is a human bone.
The divers called the search for the day around 3:00 Sunday afternoon, but they are scheduled to return Monday morning.
A native of Rochester, NY, Drexel traveled to Myrtle Beach against her parents' wishes and vanished April 25 from Ocean Boulevard.
She was last seen leaving the Blue Water Resort and was reportedly headed back to where she was staying at the Bar Harbor Hotel.
Myrtle Beach detectives tracked Drexel's cell phone signals from Myrtle Beach to Georgetown County in the first days of her disappearance. As previously reported, the cell phone made a bee line from Myrtle Beach to somewhere near the North Santee Community around the hour Drexel was last seen.
A substantial reward is being offered for any information leading to Brittanee, and detectives are asking for the public's help. Anonymous tips can be phoned in to the Myrtle Beach Police tip line at 843-918-1963.

"Georgetown County investigators and Myrtle Beach Police detectives have a picture of Brittanee on the beach the day before she vanished, and she's wearing a pair of sunglasses that show a striking resemblance to the glasses found this week.While one detective thought the find was a "long shot," others felt confident the glasses could belong to Drexel.
The glasses will be sent to the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division which will try to gather and analyze any DNA that's present on the sunglasses."

It says despite all efforts in searching the area where the sunglasses were found, they've had no luck in finding more clues. : (
