WV - NEAL FALLS, suspected SK - LE seeking link to murders in IL, NV and OR

The facial discrepancy that troubles me the most is that JH's suspect has his hair parted in the middle. That's not something guys usually change. Unless of course he's had a lot of practice disguising himself, in which case he might think of things like that.

I took the video of the van in JH's case, cleaned it up a bit, and flipped it so it's facing the same direction as Falls's car, sort of. Neither direction really matches. It's clearly not the same vehicle. Well, not clearly. It's too fuzzy to be sure, and the angle is so different. But the front end doesn't look like a Subaru at all. More like a Honda Odyssey or something along those lines.

Which doesn't mean it's not his vehicle. He could have been driving something else two years ago.

I think the overall feel of the sketch looks very similar to Neal Falls.
Something to remember with these sketches is that they are closer to caricatures than portraits. Are the eyes wider set or closer set than standard mean? etc. No human being has eyes as close set as the ones in the sketch and is still able to see, for example.

A good friend of mine is a retired police officer whose art career started when he became the in-house composite sketch artist for the police force he worked for. Here's a video of him participating in an art project that may help give some insight on what the process is like and why the sketches sometimes end up looking unlike their real-life counterparts : http://www.wanted-project.com/wanted-composite-sketch-session/

edited to add: in case anyone is wondering, his life drawing skills are very good and his portraits of anyone sitting in front of him look very different than these sketches, because the more realistic these sketches are the more they may emphasize features that are incorrectly observed or remembered.

It would be nice to know the date of the texas stop. There are so many missing female teenagers in Texas just in 2015 alone. I came up with a list of 34 from missing kids.com for 2015. There are a number of other missing women in texas as well.

I would also like to know:

Did he use a public computer to find the West Virginia woman? Did he have a laptop in the vehicle? Did he use a cellphone or smartphone to access the internet to find her? If he had a cellphone, surely the FBI is looking at the records closely to track his path of movement. It would be nice to know that path.

I'd also like to know if he was in oregon with his mother when she died and if he appeared for her funeral. Family says they haven't seen him in ten years. So, did he not show up for that? He has been traveling the last seven months. January 19 date of mom's death to July 19 is six months. How precise is the 7 months because there are two December missing women, one from Cincinnati, Ohio and one from Bloomfield, indiana 3 hours away. There are in fact several missing women from the Cincinnati area as well as from the Louisville, Kentucky area. Cincinnati and Louisville are 1.5 to 2.5 hours apart depending on the route. Bloomfield to Louisville is a little over 2 hours. I haven't looked up the dates for all those other women though. I had those mapped recently just looking into the whole Chillicothe thing but I lost the map on my computer. I hope everyone of those women is being checked for a backpage account though.

Another thing on my mind. He was pretty resolute with the WVA victim that he was going to prison for a very long time. This leads me to believe that HE believed that he must have made a very big mistake somewhere in covering his tracks or that he somehow believed that LE was getting close. So, what was he thinking? Was he thinking he left DNA somewhere? If that was his concern, then his DNA must be in a database somewhere. Or, did he leave a live victim somewhere and realize that was a mistake? Is that person going to come forward? Or, did he believe he left a body somewhere that he believed he didn't hide well enough? Had that body already been found? Or, was there a live witness somewhere that saw him abduct someone and he was scared they would remember/report something they saw/identify his car, etc? OR, did he just not care anymore and decided he was going to be sloppy with the WVA victim and not cover his tracks and/or go on a careless spree? OR, was he so severely mentally ill that he was becoming more and more paranoid?

If he wasn't just paranoid from mental illness or if he wasn't just tired of covering his tracks, then IMO there is some evidence out there that he feared was going to be discovered very soon.

Kudos to those of you sleuthing the Indiana connection, a few days ago I started sleuthing other know areas. What I have so far follows.

Were these body parts ever identified? http://www.fox4news.com/story/27752622/human-body-parts-discovered-in-dallas

There is a WS thread that is very confusing so I can't tell. I can't find any articles saying the parts were identified.

Eh, not quite. I live in Louisville. It's taken me about 2.5 hours always to travel to Cinci going the quickest route. It takes me just above 1 hour to even get to Lexington, which is a lot closer to Louisville and is in state and only takes 1 interstate. Also during the time, there was MAJOR construction here in Louisville, and there's no way he could have gotten to either Cincinatti or Bloomfield in that timeframe. Although, I suppose an extra hour tacked on wouldn't really make much of a difference and it's just semantics at that point

She was allegedly seen getting into a white car that night. Doesn't say whether or not it was an SUV or sedan. However, I don't suspect NF to be related to the case.

What a brave woman. Good for her to put this monster down.

So glad she was still aware enough of her surroundings to see the gun and act in her own best interests! Able to think straight in the most frightening of situations!

Here is a YouTube video of the suspect's vehicle in the Jessica Heeringa case. One striking similarity to Neal Fall's vehicle is if you look at the indentation below the rear light in both vehicles, it looks the same. It may be a feature of the vehicle and on both sides.

There is a second surveillance video where the minivan can be seen, which came out months after the first one. The van can be seen a lot more clearer than the previous photograph/video. The video can be seen here:

I took the liberty to impose the van next to a picture of NF's Subaru. I think it's safe to conclude that the two vehicles are not the same.

I've been thinking about this possible killer long and hard. Though it is apparent that he targeted prostitutes I'm not sure if he's responsible for the Ohio killings. I say this because all of the articles I've read so far about him seem to insinuate that he killed and dismembered his victims. He definitely had all the available tools with him to dismember the woman in West Virginia. From what I know about following the possible serial killer in Ohio, none of those victims seem to have been dismembered. They have all been in and around water. The victims in the killings in the other states (Oregon and Nevada) appear to have been dismembered and left on the side of the roadways. I'm always open to feedback, just wanted to post some difference that I noticed.

" Neal Falls, the Oregon man shot to death by a West Virginia prostitute as he tried to strangle her on Saturday, is being investigated in connection with unsolved cases in Nevada that may include the deaths and dismemberment of several women."

http://huff.to/1Mol7Vo

" Authorities say Falls, of Springfield, Oregon, rented a room in Henderson, Nev., from 2000 until 2008.

During that time, four prostitutes went missing, reports CBS affiliate KOIN*in Portland. The dismembered bodies of three were found along highways."

That's a good point, Shandram.

Though there are killers who don't have a victim preference or a method preference. Israel Keyes comes to mind.

I think it's likely that Israel keyes also dismembered. Samantha koenig was cut up and put in the frozen lake. He was also very concerned with what police would find on a particular knife, if they found it. Don't know if the Curriers we're dismemberedbor not, but I assume so. I could be wrong on this but I also think I remember him referencing to cutting up other victims and putting them into water.

This fella seems to have multiple posts on his website that Neal Falls was connected to a ton of disappearances, all from girls with blonde hair. Here's a big problem though: The victim who shot and killed Neal Falls had red hair. I'm not sure how much I would take this Bill Warner guy seriously

Yeah, many of the listed cases have known POIs who (as usual) are known to the victims, and not cross-country traveling blonde-fetishists (not to say that this monster wasn't of the sort). Either way, kind of tired of this site being linked and wish it could be ***'d out. :( I think it comes up in almost every semi high profile thread here.

Here is a newspaper article from London, England that was published in April 2013 about the disappearance of Jessica Heeringa.

The newspaper article has a daytime picture of the gas station where Jessica Heeringa was last seen. You can see from the picture that the gas station is located in a remote area.

And here is another sketch of another suspect that Michigan authorities were exploring in the Jessica Heeringa case.

Which doesn't mean it's not his vehicle. He could have been driving something else two years ago.

You make an excellent point here!

What we don't know is when, where, and how long did Neal Falls owned his current Sabaru Forester vehicle.

It very well could be possible that he could have been driving a different vehicle two years ago.

Keep in mind that predators are likely to acquire vehicles at more frequent intervals than what the average vehicle owner would.

Here is another thing to consider about Neal Falls. Neal Falls had lived in the Las Vegas, Nevada area. And there are casinos in Las Vegas.

And there are casinos in Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio.

And since Neal Falls had lived in Butler, Indiana, he could possibly be connected with the disappearances of women in Michigan and also along the Ohio River Valley in Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, and West Virginia.

these are not the same vehicles - the shape of the rear window (the one above the gas tank) is the first obvious thing that I noticed

but as carbuff said, he could've been driving a different vehicle in the video

the sketches look similar along the jawline, mouth, nose shape (not size but shape), and ears ... what's off is eyes, eyebrows, and hair

but there's so many variables when it comes to sketches that I tend to discount their value in an investigation

As requested, here's side-by-side pictures NF and the MN suspect composite, and I also created side-by-sides of the van and NFs Subaru.

The minivan above is not a Subaru, in my opinion. I also feel it's a stretch to match NF photo with the composite.

This is a copy of David Lohr's post #366 from the Chillicothe thread of Falls's known locations thus far.

Falls' former addresses according to a background check. Obviously you need to keep in mind these records are not always 100 percent accurate:

Henderson, Nevada (May 2005-?)
Albany, Oregon (1998 - ?)
Lebanon, Oregon (1996-1999) Hunting/fishing licenses issued there in 1997 and 1998.
Klamath Falls, Oregon (1990-1992)
Butler, Indiana (Gun permit issued Dec. 2001. Expired in 2005)
Eugene, Oregon (Verizon cellphone registered to a po box)
Veneta, Oregon (T-Mobile cellphone registered to a po box)
Coos Bay, Oregon (1990s)
Springfield, Oregon (last known address)

I wish we knew where he got a traffic ticket in TX.

Thanks for the thread Bessie and thanks to David Lohr for joing us in the discussion.

I hope they take a look at this guy for the series of teenage girls that were being abducted and murdered in Newport OR in the mid 90's. Although they weren't being dismembered, they were being strangled. The most recent and what seemed the most likely suspect (Bobby Jack Fowler) was eliminated as a POI a couple years ago. Newport lies 50 miles to the north of Coos Bay OR and is a straight shot up the 101.

It is my understanding from David Lohr’s posts up thread that Neal Falls had lived at Butler, Indiana. I was curious about where exactly Butler was located at in the state of Indiana, so I looked it up on my Rand McNally Road Atlas this evening. I found out from my road atlas that Butler, Indiana is in DeKalb County in northeastern Indiana. Butler is located 37 miles northeast of Fort Wayne and is 10 miles east of Interstate 69 on U.S. Route 6. Butler is also 4 miles west of the Indiana-Ohio border and 23 miles south of the Indiana-Michigan border. A check with Google Maps revealed that it is 216 miles and a 3 hour 43 minutes drive from Butler, Indiana to Chillicothe, Ohio. And Google Maps also revealed that it is 117 miles and a 2 hour drive from Chillicothe, Ohio to Charleston, West Virginia.
(First post here, hopefully I'm not breaching any protocols.)

The closest "big" city to Butler, Indiana, is Ft. Wayne. There don't appear to be any relevant missing persons from there. Plus, that locale seems a bit out of character from the other places listed.

A search of the Odyssey court records does reveal other members of the "Falls" family in Dekalb county (where Butler is). It is possible that, to get his gun permit, he used family members' address. Back in 2001, the 4 year permit was standard. (In 2006, IIRC, they passed a law allowing for a lifetime residential permit.) So, it is possible that he did not actually live in Indiana during that time period. Or, he may have briefly lived with a family member in 2000-2001, when he applied.

Fascinating site you have here. Hopefully I can contribute.
