GUILTY NC - Danielle Locklear, 15, Hope Mills, 11 March 2014

I know the one who had helped him to cover it up is out, but I hadn't heard anything about him getting out. I looked on the CC jail site, and his name doesn't come up as an inmate. Haven't heard anything new on the case, so I was wondering.

He shouldn't be out and I can't imagine anybody posting bond, besides his family. Since he's figured out that what he did was not cool, and people are furious, he may stay out of trouble. Being cool is important to him I think. Imo

Shameful that boy got a bond. :banghead:

This is a crying shame.

"The DA took time to meet with the family and provide an update. The DA's office is still awaiting the investigation file from the Hope Mills Police Department before moving the case forward to a grand jury, the family said."
"Yeah, I've been knowing the family for a long time," Willie Malloy said when asked if he'd ever had an opportunity to speak to Locklear's family. "I'm sorry. There's nothing I can say but, 'I'm sorry. I'm sorry about all of this.' There's nothing I can do. I just wish it never would have happened."

"Je'Michael was a good fellow, but I don't know what went wrong," Willie Malloy said. "To me, I feel like he had somebody influencing him in all this.

"I want to understand too. I don't understand.”

And in the mean time one of them gets to walk around free.

Just seven months before her own untimely death, Danielle Locklear was making sure her grandfather's grave was decorated. The 15-year-old smiled into a camera lens placing mementos on the gravesite. It was typical of her to be upbeat, helpful and caring. Now, Danielle rests next to her grandfather on the plot that was bought with the family believing the elders would precede the young...

Holding a picture of the couple headed to a winter dance at Locklear's South View High School almost puts the family in a daze. "Je'Michael and Danielle, looking very sweet, very innocent," said Simmons. "Now looking at that photograph, you never would have thought. You never would have thought. So thing are not always what they seem."

In the days leading up to Locklear's murder, her family members said she was noticeably down. Locklear and Malloy, an aspiring Marine, had broken up, but again, on the surface it seemed typical of what teens go through. "She had a deep sadness about her," said Simmons, with other family members nodding in agreement around Locklear's grave. "When at that time, hindsight would say, we should've taken out the time and stopped and said 'Dannie, what's on your mind? I can see something's not right.'"

"On Monday, Lock appeared in court alongside his attorney and family. He pleaded guilty to accessory after the fact to first-degree murder, which carries a maximum of 8 years in prison.
Cumberland County District Attorney Billy West said Lock will not be sentenced until Malloy's case is resolved. Malloy currently faces second-degree murder charges.
The upgrade in Lock's charges, based on prosecutors' evidence, suggests Malloy will face a similar upgrade. His case is set to go before an upcoming grand jury session unless he takes a plea deal."

I knew all along it should be first degree, hopefully Malloy will plead guilty to first as well. So there will be justice for Danielle.

"Je'Michael Malloy, 19, is now facing a first-degree murder charge in the death of his ex-girlfriend. The indictment was handed down earlier this week."

<snipped>
"In April 2014, Malloy confessed to killing Locklear soon after the 15-year-old's body was discovered in the South River.
The murder took place in March 2014. Malloy and his friend, then 18-year-old Dominic Lock, originally faced second-degree murder charges in the case."

<snipped>
In court last month, the D.A.'s office mentioned threatening text messages sent from Malloy to Locklear in the hours leading up to her murder. The evidence cements the legal ground for proving intent, which would support the first-degree murder charge.

[h=1]Plea deal offered in Hope Mills girl's death[/h] Posted 5:07 p.m. today
Updated 6:40 p.m. today

Fayetteville, N.C. — A Sampson County man charged with killing his former girlfriend two years ago is weighing a plea deal offered by prosecutors in the case.

Je'Michael Devanair Malloy, 19, of Autryville, is charged with first-degree murder in the death of Danielle Nicole Locklear. The deal would make him eligible for parole after 25 years instead of facing the possibility of life in prison without parole should he be convicted of first-degree murder at trial.

Hmmmm.

If he's got good sense, he would take this in one heartbeat. A he!!uva deal, IMO.

Agree! I can't even believe they're offering a chance at parole! He threw her body into a river (or was she still alive but incapacitated when they threw her in?). I really disagree with this plea deal. It seems far too lenient. I hope he doesn't take it.
