When motherhood becomes victimhood
FRANK MICHEL | February 18, 2001

Lawrence Edward Wells III cooked his mother dinner, wished her goodbye and told her to wait up because he was going to bring her back some cranberry muffins. Lee Wells never saw him again after that simple farewell on the evening of Sept. 28, 1992.

A week later, Wells and her husband found her 29-year-old son's car near downtown. His body has never been found, and the man suspected of killing her son in a dispute over money has never been brought to justice for it and remains on the lam from other felony convictions

His mother passed away in 2011.

I see a resemblence and Wells would be 49 now, which fits. Circumstances seem off but after these amazing few days in Cleveland, he very well could have been hiding for his life these past 20 years. It doesn't appear that his mother submitted any DNA samples before her death, though.

Hopefully his Dad, sibling or other family member will step forward and submit a sample. Or maybe there will be a fingerprint comparison? Looking forward to the ME's result.

One would think that being an advocate for murdered children, submitting DNA would have been a priority. I do see he has 4 aunts in the obituary. No mention of siblings. I wonder if LEW II is still living.

Heard that fingerprints were not a match.

Confused a bit by the previous posts. Hippyqueen aka Michele made only these 2 posts and claims she was Lawrence's sister. Possibly a step sister from a previous marriage? I ask because Judith Wells obituary makes no mention of a daughter and then she refers to her as Ms Judy. Also WHO is Sidney flowers I wonder.
I found a 2001 article with Lawrence's mother Lee (Judy also went by Lee Wells)
When motherhood becomes victimhood It says that there is a man suspecting of killing Lawrence but does not mention his name. I can find nothing else online as far as media, no statements from police or family.

I read that you went to collect some money from someone? or did he go to his job to collect? If he went to someone, he has the impression that they did not want to pay him and perhaps the situation got out of control and he was murdered...
either way
rest in peace
