It's possible that he liked social gatherings and didn't like one-on-one relationships. He could enjoy a party and attention, but he didn't want any deeper connection, possibly. I say this as an extrovert myself who can really enjoy people -- even random people
Great fun! But when it comes to sharing my business, I don't like a wide circle for that.When I ran around with my psychopath, she was a life-of-the-party girl. Attention galore. But she didn't have many close friends. She had tons of friends, but few knew her well at all. In her case, and surely Eric's, it was harder to keep up the facade when being deeper and truer about her thoughts and feelings. She fared much better with jokes and chit-chat and party games.

An ex-girlfriend said that he did not like going out to socialize. Also, in the video of him at a night club he seems terribly uncomfortable, as others have commented here. But he does seem like he was very capable of putting on the charm when needed, as seen in interview footage.

It sounds the same... creepy... :what:

Yeah, that part is so strange for someone who likes attention so much. Maybe he liked socializing in a small crowd, at folks' houses/apartments? Not wanting to be seen in public is often different than going to a very private setting. Especially if one likes being on any substance.
It does seem like he ended up spending most of his time on the web. I guess he got his attention there, but it was so troll-y that it baffles me that anyone would like that. I guess the web generation may feel differently about things like that, though. Maybe his web presence was his real goal and how he satisfied all his social urges.

I was never left with the impression that his is charming when looking at the interviews he gave. I am left with the feeling "odd"...somthing is wrong..I found him to be zombie-like. IMO part of his lack of success is due to his gross lack of charm. He might have been much more successful, even as a prostitute had he more charisma.
Yes, it seems that some of the reactions to Nina are symptomatic of a lack of sensitivity and understanding of human sexuality. I dont agree with your assertion that its a serious disorder though. I personally think its more of a societal problem. Its western cultures simplistic and rigid comprehension of sex/gender categories and roles to a one dimensional ideology of sexual dismorphism, that refuses to aknoweldge natures diversity. Its societies fixation on biological sex to match with the appropriate gender performance that is the problem.
But thats just my humble opinion...

Yeah, I don't see where this "charm" thing is coming from. He seems sort of dull and expressionless.
The Toronto Sun interview about Homolka is case and point.
I mean, here is a guy who is claiming his life is being ruined by online rumours, and he's standing there talking about it in a calm and monotone voice and expressionless face.
One good reason( besides all the ones we know about) for being non judgemental, is it might generate tips from those people who might otherwise not report them.

I think we all experience the same things in life (varying degrees due to environment) and subconsciously tick the boxes we enjoy along the way. Instinctively we return to the experiences where we ticked the box we enjoyed and our personalities develop along the way.

But think about it--if you're a narcissist you're really terribly insecure inside, creating a false self to hide the shame. You want to control that image of yourself so that others give you the positive attention you so badly crave, rather than negative attention. He probably felt uncomfortable in situations he couldn't control. ...definitely seems to have control issues and is probably terrified by solitary confinement.

If he was like a zombie he would have been sitting there, saying nothing, no smile on his face, no efforts to manipulate or engage. I wasn't saying I was charmed by him, but rather that he is capable of being that way when he needs to be. And you have the bias of watching his footage after knowing certain key facts. Most people he encountered before would not have guessed how depraved he was. Now, when he wanted to be creepy it was really obvious such as when he threatened the reporter.

Even if I am biased, put that aside. Other's that interviewed LM felt the same oddness. I don't see his charm. He wasn't charming enough to get the audition for the underwear model show. In fact, his over the top "lots of people say I'm devastatingly goodlooking" pretty much sucked the air out of that room. During the plastic surgery interview he's calmly talking about his recall of feeling blood dripping down his neck during his hair transplants and then later describes concern with growing "devil horns" out of his forehead. Bizarre. I definitely would have felt he was odd without knowing a thing. Would I know that he'd commit the horrific acts he did, no. Who would? That's part of the intrigue with these sorts of criminals, they can look like your neighbors.... I tell my daugher, that when you get that weird feeling with someone...just get away...don't wait to find out what its about or you'll end up in a ditch.

Fair enough. I can't say how I would have regarded him otherwise as a serial animal torturer and murderer. I find so much about his demeanour superficial and insincere. Like the "plastic surgery" try out video. I mean, the whole thing seemed like a major trolling effort (two bumps that look like horns?!).
This may be getting a little wayyyyy out there...but thinking about the LE reference to six mailings/packages...it was very vague...
So...Mailings/packages:
#1,2,3,4 - Feet, hands to symbolic/societal entities
# 5 - "Mailing" - somehow "delayed" via "reminder" e-mail, or flower delivery, etc where one can specify deilvery date that included photo or description of head location
# 6 - "delivery" of a Ransomware virus, asking $100 per clear (maybe linked to searching on LRM postings?)
And in someone's very sick mind the "fame and fortune" he sought?? Thoughts?
