Sofia Vergara and Nick Loeb battle over frozen embryos

Nick Loeb, the ex of soon-to-be-married Sofia Vergara, has filed a lawsuit to prevent her destroying two frozen female embryos they created together. They split in May last year after failing to conceive.

The lawsuit was filed under the name John Doe, The NY Post reports, as Loeb wanted to remain anonymous. He also alleges Vergara was abusive towards him during their relationship.

In bombshell court papers filed by Loeb under the name John Doe, he is seeking to prevent the actress, named as Jane Doe, from destroying the embryos they had saved for surrogacy....Court papers allege Jane punched him in the face on two occasions, kicked him, and threw her phone at his head.

She also routinely bullied him, calling him a loser and worthless.

I'm very interested to see how this pans out. Very complicated situation

Does anyone know of they, while still a couple, had tried, and failed IVF? I'm thinking yes, b/c otherwise why freeze embryos versus just freezing eggs?

Per the article, she wanted a surrogate to carry the pregnancy but that didn't work. The two embryos were left over from that process.
Does this guy wants to make the embryos into children? I have to question why, considering she is about to marry someone else, and he is perfectly able to have children with somebody else.

In Davis v. Davis (1992), the Supreme Court of Tennessee decided a dispute over cryopreserved preembryos in favor of Junior Lewis Davis, who sought to have the preembryos destroyed over the objections of his former wife, Mary Sue Davis.

I am not sure how this guy think he could possibly win the case. The two of them were not even legally married. Furthermore, there is nothing to stop him from having children with somebody else. His fertility is not an issue.
And what does her alleged behavior toward him have to do with the embryos? Why would he want to make these embryos into children? She doesn't want to have children with him. He can still have children with somebody else. And if she didn't behave well toward him, why would he want to have children with her when she clearly doesn't want to? Makes no sense to me at all.

I was watching a discussion yesterday, and one of the commentators put forth the idea that he may well be interested in "having these children" and then seek child support from Sophia!!!

None of those cases would apply unless she seeks to destroy the embryos. They signed an agreement that the embryos would not be used except by mutual agreement. Case closed.

Also, he creeps me out. I think he can't let go of the relationship. Icky.

He wrote an op-ed piece for the NY Times so clearly he is lying when he says he wanted to keep his private. "I wanted this to be private but someone leaked it". Yeah, I wonder who that someone is. It's not complicated actually at all. They had a signed contract that the embryos would not be used without mutual agreement. there is no mutual agreement so they cannot be used.
