Gun owners don’t get any more responsible than law enforcement officers, right? After all, they are experts, having received training in how to handle weapons — or so logic would tell us.

Then how is it that a Kentucky sheriff’s deputy managed to accidentally shoot his own mother? In church. At a wedding.

On the lighter side:
We've all heard about shotgun weddings, but this happened at reception. W a revolver.
Bride & groom will have a wedding-day story to top everyone else.

Good that Sheriff is taking this seriously - deputy on leave.
LEO handling firearm improperly is a Big Deal. Being off duty gives him no excuse.

Getting ready to travel to my nieces wedding next month. I sent this article to my son and asked him nicely to leave his gun at home. :slap:

Wasn't there a (Lady) sheriff , off duty , carrying her concealed gun in church , and stopped a crazed Islamist before he shot too many people

It was within the past year , and somewhere in the USA

She was called a hero.

Wow -- not meaning to be insulting here, but it sure shows how memory can distort things. There was no 'crazed Islamist' -- the shooter was Christian. This didn't happen last year, but in 2007. And there was no 'off-duty sheriff's deputy' -- instead, it was an 'on-duty security guard'. So, not really too much in common with the story that this thread discusses.
