Yes, Hazel, that looks good. If you watch the video of the SUV being hauled away, that looks like the same road, based on Google Street View. thanks.

But, we have another place to add to your map already! MacKay AB.

http://www.vancouversun.com/news/Police+manhunt+centres+suspect+with+long+criminal+history/3290736/story.html

I found this spot on google maps: MacKay, Division No. 14, Alberta T0E

If you go to street view and look to the west, there is a property there with a pretty solid looking locked gate across the driveway. I wonder if that is the property they were referring to.

Thanx...You maybe right...Are those mailboxes around the other side of this property?

LE will have a hard time flushing him out of the bush up there. That is, if he's still in the Edson area. He could be long gone on a quad, following a cutline, or back in northeastern B.C. He likely knows the logging roads and oilpatch. Their best hope is that someone who is helping him will get scared and hand him over. Chances are the people helping him are more of the same, though, so that`s not very likely.

Maybe he`s addled enough to lose his edge.

The POI has seven children:

http://www.cbc.ca/canada/edmonton/story/2010/07/16/edmonton-missing-couple-rcp.html

I see he has ties to Barrhead. Robert and Danny Sand, along with Laurie Bell, were from that area. Niton Junction is in the same general area as Mayerthorpe, where the Fallen Four were murdered.

I'd wager that he's headed north to Whitecourt, then on to B.C. But I'm not a gambler.

Has anyone heard if searches are going on for the McCanns today?

Forgive me if this has already been posted:

I hope this case is getting a lot of attention in northeastern B.C., as it is known to be a place the POI frequented.

ETA: Sadly, the Prince George Citizen is the only paper linked to this site that is covering the story. I don't know about Fort Nelson:

Thanks Summer, I had only seen your 3rd link, but wouldn't the POI photo be plastered all over both Alberta and BC's front page local papers?!?!????
This is a dangerous man, and now that he knows he is "wanted" for questionning in the McCann's disappearance (assuming that he is guilty), he would be scared and 10x more dangerous! Shouldn't people from the area be warned!
Hopefully posters are being distributed and radio and tv broadcasting people to be on alert!!! Not all people read the papers daily nor check the online news.

Here's more info from Edmonton:

I'd have to say his path in the area was entirely predictable, right down to Evansburg. There is a problem in the area:

RCMP at the scene July 16, 2010 near Highway 16 and Range Road 144 where the vehicle of two missing seniors was discovered

It [the SUV] was found by a man doing work on the property, RCMP spokesman Sgt. Patrick Webb said. "He was walking along and came upon it." The man said he recognized it from the media coverage of the disappearance and called RCMP immediately.
I thought the SUV was found by the helicopter's search

Snipped by me.

It appears that LE cut down all the trees and bushes around the car. Wouldn't that destroy the crime scene? TV news showed a shot that seemed to have been entirely deforested.

I wonder if the McCanns stopped at the Niton Junction truck stop:

http://www.yellowheadcounty.ab.ca/business/bus_002c3.html

Checked it out on Google, and that's about all there is at Niton Junction.
yeah, but why would they stop so soon? They must have had everything in their RV, unless they forgot to load something, hmmm, maybe something frozen they planned to pack at the last minute, or maybe they forgot to buy ice at the St. Albert gas station?
Or their meds? Would it be possible they decided to go back home, leaving the RV parked somewhere in NJ, and were in the process of detaching the SUV from the RV, when 'someone' approached them?

I'm trying to think of something unpredictable because, otherwise, I cannot understand why would they stop so early in their trip.

Maybe they stopped to take pictures? In the map I've seen a nice-looking lake, cannot remember the name, it started with "W"

They could have had mechanical problems, or stopped because gas is cheaper there than further on, or needed to use the washroom, wanted a snack, etc. No reason to stop there otherwise. Let's just say that outsiders are expected at truck stops, but definitely stick out off the beaten track in those parts.

For that matter, why would they camp at Minnow Lake, so close to home? Could it have to do with fishing? Did they even make it to Minnow Lake, or did someone else take their RV there? Does the Niton Junction truck stop sell live bait? Found this about the campground:

minnow lake campground trashed - Alberta Outdoorsmen Forum

With so many other campgrounds to choose from in the area, it doesn't make sense to me that they would go to Minnow Lake. Surely there was a campground closer to the Yellowhead Highway:

Blue River reminds me of Wells Gray Provincial Park, and this:

http://www.cbc.ca/canada/british-columbia/story/2008/11/11/bc-david-shearing-granted-leave.html

Ennis/Shearing is still behind bars, and has been mentioned elsewhere by those following this story. His victims were found at the scene of a fire in a campground. He was found in Tumbler Ridge, a now-defunct mining town, now a cottage town. You can access it via Grande Prairie on Highway 43.

Wow, how rich is that. "A couple of mistakes." The way he said it, it's the way you might expect someone to explain something very trivial. When you're talking gross lack of due diligence in a serious situation like missing people, it's those little "mistakes" that could mean all the difference between someone's life and death, and capturing the perp. What a disgraceful lot of moronic imbeciles. That's nice though, just give the lil' copper some paid desk time for the humongous error in judgment and epic failure in doing his job. It's the brotherhood afterall, cover for each other.

I totally understand where you are coming from, I really do, LE messed up.
I do not think it would have helped in this situation and I do not think there is a coverup, they are admitting it. They must feel horrible.

Considering Minnow Lk Campground is so close to St Albert, their hometown/start of their trip, it would make sense to me that it was NOT THEM who parked the RV there and that something went awry between the Superstore Gas Station in St Albert and Minnow Lk Campground.

I would suspect, too, that if it was not the McCanns who parked the RV in one of the campground's sites, obviously that person (the perp) would not have registered/paid for the site......therefore prompting campground employees to come by and knock on the RV door. I wonder, at the time that that happened, was the SUV connected to the RV or not? Either way, I suspect the perp or perps was/were inside it........obviously didn't answer.....and this spooked him/them because they knew that sooner or later the campground employees would return...........so this prompted the moving of the RV.

My fear is that foul play occurred inside the RV, against the McCanns....and that's why it was torched, to hopefully hide evidence.

It's possible, too, if the SUV really was spotted in Prince George, that the perp or perps drove the McCanns (in whatever state :( ) far enough away to get rid of them (being held somewhere, bodies dumped)...then back to the original area where RV found.

NOTE: News article indicates that Niton Junction residents report having seen T.V. driving around that area in a light colored SUV, earlier this week:

I agree, I do not think they parked it. There is the possibility they got a bit further before something happened and the perp drove it back that way.

I think perp was either in it at that time or doing something in the woods.

That is my thought too.

I don't think he would take that chance. I think they will be found in close proximity to where RV was found.

The pieces of the puzzle are starting to come together and it is not a pretty picture.
