GUILTY UT - Ethan Stacy, 4, Layton, 10 May 2010 - #8

"Two self-appointed advocates for Ethan Stacy who attended Tuesday's hearing say they're frustrated with the slow process, but won't let it deter them following the case to the end.

"We know the family can't be here. Ethan touched our lives," said Anissa Martinez. "We feel like we are his voice."

"If it takes three years, we'll be here," Lucinda Martin said, who along with Martinez organized "Ethan's Army" to speak out against child abuse."

Wow, this made me cry. How much love these 2 people are giving to Ethan. These will be who the murderers see in court to remind them of what they did to this little boy.

Just checking in for Ethan......still thinking of you.

praying for justice. praying that all children are loved, supported, and cared for -- the meek shall inherit the Earth

thinking of you ethan <3 justice comes slowly but it will come, I have faith.

Ethan is always in my thoughts. Sweet little angel boy.

Guess it's too much to hope his murderers will die in prison before the trial.

That's mean, I know. Sorry. NOT!

Has a trial date been set yet?

I am so sorry you had to go through what you did Ethan..but rest assure little man there is a special place for monsters...

A preliminary hearing set next month for Nathan Sloop, charged in the slaying of 4-year-old Ethan Stacy, has again been delayed.

Both sides agreed to the cancelation Thursday, a court official said. Sloop’s defense attorney, Richard Mauro, said the cancelation was "to give us some additional time to do a few things," but declined to discuss specifics.

No new date was set for the hearing.

Nathan Sloop, 32, and Stephanie Sloop, 28, are both charged with aggravated murder in connection with the boy’s 2010 death.

I added a lot of updates to the sub-album for "Hearings/Trials" for the Sloops.

The main Ethan Stacy case archive is here:

It doesn't get many views, but all the info is there, from day 1 to now.

I totally respect the work you do on all of these cases, I just truly have a hard time viewing pictures & documents from this case. :(

AR - I so sincerely appreciate all you do - with every case. I just can't bear to see the pics of little Ethan. They break my heart. :(

Hadn't seen this case until this weekend, but it's kept me awake at night--those glasses and that little grin just kill me. I'm not always impressed with law enforcement, but I want to hug the prosecutor for this one.

Something I didn't see anyone mention is what Stephanie said about substance use in her phone interview with ABC 4's Kelli O'Hara. It's not in the article, but you can hear it in the recording of the call (see video to right of text). "I'll be honest with everybody out there, the fact of the matter is that I was under the influence of a lot of drugs ... made me say a lot of things that I probably shouldn't have."

I disagree with her that it in any way reduces culpability, but there was speculation about drug involvement earlier in the threads, and this is the closest I've seen to confirmation of that.

Good to have you with us here, likeafox. But I'm almost sorry you found this case. It breaks my heart more than any other I've followed.

Still, we'll all be here when the trials begin. Ethan is always in my thoughts and I'll be here until his murderers are brought to justice.
