According to one of the documents, Casey Anthony's attorney, Jose Baez, turned over a box full of items to the FBI. Among the items in the box were a Spiderman toothbrush, Tylenol drops, three children's books, toy food and utensils, a pillow case, a bed sheet and a pink hat.

According to Casey Anthony's defense team spokeswoman Marti Mackenzie, a day after remains were found near the Anthony family home and a search warrant was served at the house, the defense notified the FBI and the Orange County Sheriff's Office that it had some of the family's belongings in its possession.

Baez was holding the items to obtain a DNA profile for the defense team, said Mackenzie, who added that Baez immediately turned the items over the FBI in December. The FBI forwarded the items to Orange County Sheriff's Office in April.

The defense also presented a four-page report entitled "independent forensics DNA testing and technologies." It's not known if the report was put together by Casey Anthony's defense team.

The documents also show that Cindy Anthony tried to provide detectives with proof that the mysterious baby sitter Zenaida Gonzalez existed.

Shortly after Caylee's disappearance, Cindy Anthony gave investigators several items that the baby sitter would have likely touched, such as toys and DVDs that Caylee reportedly took to Gonzalez's house.

UPDATED: Baez Denies Defense Withheld Anthony Evidence
Lee Anthony Faces Deposition On Thursday
POSTED: 6:24 am EDT July 30, 2009

Outside the Orange County Courthouse Baez was on the defensive a single document among more than 1,000 released on Thursday. It is a laundry list of items his spokeswoman said they took from the Anthony home in September, such as books, baby toys, puzzle pieces and Spiderman toothbrush.

Baez was asked if he was he withholding potentially important evidence.

"Absolutely not and indication of that would be false and ridiculous," he said. "We did the ethical thing and there should be proof of that."

Also, an FBI document released on Thursday from June 2009 indicates that Casey Anthony's parents, George and Cindy, and her brother, Lee, declined to take polygraphs.

Baez would not talk about why.

There also was a police report from August 2008 that indicated Cindy Anthony may have been trying to establish that "Zanny the nanny" really existed.

2nd Headline:
Lee Anthony Faces Deposition
Lee Anthony did not respond to reporter's questions when he arrived with his attorney, Tom Luka, who said they would comment when the deposition is completed.

Lee Anthony will likely be asked about what he heard and saw in the months leading up to his sister's arrest on murder charges in the death of her daughter, Caylee.

Cindy Anthony completed a round of depositions on Wednesday. She is considered a key witness for attorneys on both sides of the case.

Defense attorney Jose Baez said Cindy Anthony wasn't as volatile as she's been in the past.

"She's a loose cannon, and you have to rein her in and get her testimony very concise. You want to advance your case using her," defense attorney Richard Hornsby said.

Hornsby said he believes Cindy Anthony is critical to the state's theory of motive, and they need to get her story on the record in case it changes at trial. He also said he believes Baez will use her to prove Casey Anthony is not guilty.

Here is something on use of immunity. (The point, it would appear, if that if you are subpoenaed to give testimony, what you say can't be used against you, but you still could be prosecuted with other evidence.)

UPDATED: 1,394 Pages Of Docs Released In Casey Anthony Case

He's Casey Anthony's ex-lover, but could the defense try to make him its fall guy? Eyewitness News sorted through 1,394 pages of documents released Thursday in the case against Casey and hundreds of those pages focus on just one man.

Jesse Grund and his father worry the defense will use the documents to keep trying to create suspicion. Eyewitness News Googled Jesse Grund's name Thursday and found more than 96,000 hits and he's taken hits of his own from Casey Anthony, who told her family not to trust him.

WFTV legal analyst Bill Sheaffer wouldn't expect the Anthonys' statements to be admissible at trial and questions what the defense would gain by attacking Grund's credibility; Grund's not the only one who says Casey is a liar, that she was not upset after Caylee's disappearance and that she told many stories about where Caylee was.

"No juror's going to believe that a dozen people in the community or more have conspired to frame this girl," Sheaffer said.

The new documents also confirm that Cindy, George and Lee Anthony are the only ones who were asked by the FBI to take voluntarily polygraph tests who refused. Now, prosecutors are getting their statements under oath (read FBI request).

The State Attorney's Office released documents in the Casey Anthony case.

Here are some points of interest:

*The Orlando Police Department released the personnel file of Casey Anthony's former boyfriend Jesse Grund. Records show Grund was enrolled in the police training program in 2007 and 2008. He resigned for "personal reasons" in June 2008, according to a resignation letter he sent to Chief Val Demings. Records show he garnered mostly positive reviews, but was reassigned to remedial training at one point. The documents show he came in late and also failed to pay for a vehicle registration.

*Hundreds of pages included in the batch are transcribed interviews with Cindy and George Anthony. These interviews were done last summer after Caylee was reported missing but before her remains had been found. These are interviews are not new. Cindy Anthony talked about how she was tried to get more information from Casey Anthony about where the toddler was and George Anthony spoke about the horrible smell in Casey's car.

Casey Anthony: What is brother Lee telling prosecutors?
posted by halboedeker on Jul 30, 2009 1:14:35 PM
<snipped>
WKMG-Channel 6's Jessica Sanchez described Lee as "his typical silent and stoic self" at the prosecutor's offices. Lee's attorney wasn't going to comment until the deposition was over, which could go into the late afternoon, Sanchez said. But Jose Baez, Casey's attorney, promised to talk after a lunch break, Sanchez said.

The 1,500 pages "revealed some telling information about the Anthony family and what they said about Casey's former boyfriend Jesse Grund," WFTV-Channel 9 anchor Liz Artz said.

WKMG's Mike DeForest said the documents reveal that, after Caylee disappeared, Cindy Anthony gave investigators some items that a babysitter might have touched. He added that investigators have repeatedly said the babysitter doesn't exist.

WESH-Channel 2's Amanda Ober highlighted that defense attorney Baez was sitting in all the depositions. "It's an opportunity for him to try and learn what the state may have planned when the trial comes around, just by listening to what questions they're asking the Anthony family," Ober said.

Casey Anthony: Could 'spiteful b***' comment catch up with her?

<snipped>
What was the most eye-catching evidence released today in the Casey Anthony case?

WESH-Channel 2 highlighted that Cindy Anthony pointed to two people as possible suspects in the disappearance of granddaughter Caylee. Casey Anthony is charged with daughter Caylee's murder.

Cindy Anthony cited Jesse Grund, Casey's former fiance, for his "hot temper" and said that Casey pal Amy Huizenga might be the mysterious Zanny the nanny, WESH's Bob Kealing reported. But Grund and Huizenga took lie-detector tests while the Anthonys have not, Kealing added.

WFTV also highlighted a conversation between Casey Anthony and brother Lee. When he asked why she wouldn't let the family see Caylee, Casey said, "Maybe I'm a spiteful b****." Prosecutors deposed Lee Anthony today.

WFTV legal analyst Bill Sheaffer said, "You don't have to prove motive, but when the defendant hands it to you on a silver platter, you don't ignore it. And that's exactly what she did with her statements to Lee."

Judge Refuses To Speed Up Casey’s Civil Trial

In the civil case against Casey Anthony, on Thursday a judge denied a request by Zenaida Gonzalez's attorneys to move up some hearings that are currently scheduled for September.

Those hearings will deal with three issues: trying to get Casey to identify Gonzalez as the woman she claimed was her nanny, getting George Anthony to answer questions he refused to answer during his first deposition and getting private investigator, Dominic Casey to answer questions under oath.

Thomas Luka said he was retained to help protect Lee Anthony's rights while detectives investigated the death of his niece, Caylee Marie, whose remains were found in December in woods less than a mile from her family home.

Prosecutors questioned Lee Anthony under oath Thursday at the State Attorney's Office. Luka said they finished interviewing Anthony and dont' need him to answer anymore questions.

Therefore, Luka's role in the case has come to an end, he said. If something comes up and Lee Anthony needs an attorney again, Luka would return.

He may help Lee Anthony in the civil case against his sister. Attorneys for the woman suing Casey Anthony for defamation may want Lee Anthony and his family to answer questions they initially balked out during their depositions.

Lee Anthony's Lawyer Exits Case
Attorney Says Casey Anthony's Brother No Longer Needs Representation

The attorney for Lee Anthony said he is exiting the case as his "representation is no longer necessary."

Anthony's sister, Casey Anthony, is charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of her daughter, Caylee. After eight hours of deposition, Tom Luka said Anthony "spilled it all and nothing was different."

As a result of his testimony, Luka said Lee Anthony has what's called "use immunity" from prosecution, though he said Anthony never did anything to warrant being charged in connection with the case.

"Lee Anthony isn't done yet. Yesterday, he spent nine hours in the hot seat at the state attorney's office," WESH-Channel 2 anchor Scott Walker reported at noon today.

Lee's sister, Casey, is charged with the first-degree murder of her daughter, Caylee.

Tom Luka, Lee's attorney, told reporters that his client would make a statement after the deposition is completed.

Casey Anthony: Lee 'spilled it all,' attorney tells WESH
posted by halboedeker on Jul 31, 2009 4:54:00 PM
<snipped>
Lee Anthony "spilled it all" in a sworn deposition this week, his attorney told WESH-Channel 2 today.

He is the brother of Casey Anthony, who is charged with the murder of her daughter, Caylee.

Lee Anthony's deposition means that previous statements he made won't be used against him, the attorney told WESH's Bob Kealing.

Evidently, that won't be a problem because nothing Lee said was different from his previous testimony, Anthony's attorney, Tom Luka, told the station. (But no one from the state was quoted in the report.)

At 5, Kealing examined the defense team's taking two dozen items -- such as books, toys and a toothbrush -- from the Anthony home in September for testing. Defense attorney Jose Baez dismissed the notion that his team had withheld evidence. (The defense team gave the items to investigators in December.) Baez spokeswoman Marti Mackenzie said it was "good, solid defense strategy."

"The last thing that would come to my mind would be that this is 100 percent ethical," analyst Hornsby told Kealing. Rather, Baez should have warned the state when he took the items, Hornsby said. "He had a duty to put the state on notice," Hornsby said.

Casey's ex-fiancé caught up in case
Updated: Friday, 31 Jul 2009, 6:18 PM EDT
Published : Friday, 31 Jul 2009, 6:18 PM EDT
<snipped>
Across the country people can't get enough of the case against Casey Anthony case. One person dragged into the whole mess is her ex-fiancé Jesse Grund who has had to answer a slew of questions he probably never imagined.

"This is unbelievable," Richard Grund said as he thumbed through is son Jesse's 696 page personnel file from when he was an Orlando Police officer. State prosecutors just released it as discovery in the murder case against Casey Anthony. "What does his high school and college transcripts have to do with this?" asked Grund. Those are in there along with Jesse's credit report and every review and call he responded to as an OPD officer. "He came forward, did everything he was supposed to do and this was his reward."

But Richard Grund says he understands his son was a city employee and different rules apply to them than those in private industry. But Grund believes Florida's broad Government in the Sunshine laws need to be tweaked for certain situations. So Monday, he'll be contacting lawmakers asking them to toughen up the laws.

Some TV stations reported it was slated for today but attorney Brad Conway told the Orlando Sentinel that his client was never scheduled to answer questions today. He would not specify what day it's set.

Last week, George Anthony's wife, Cindy, and son, Lee, answered questions at the State Attorney's Office. George Anthony was going to meet with prosecutors last week but they ran out of time.

The interviews are not open to the public so it's unclear what questions the family answered.

Depositions were supposed to continue Monday in the Case Against Casey Anthony, but George Anthony was not at the courthouse.

Anthony's deposition was originally scheduled to take place last week, but it was postponed after the lengthy questioning of his wife.

Cindy and family attorney Brad Conway didn't stick around to answer questions last Wednesday night, but Casey’s attorney, Jose Baez, said the atmosphere was considerably different.

“The state conducted themselves with dignity and it was a very professionally done deposition and certainly not like what has been broadcast previously,” Baez said.

Neither Baez nor Conway would talk about the questions that were asked inside the deposition, or how Cindy held up under the questioning.

“This case isn't easy for anyone, least of which the family,” Baez said.

Cindy Anthony and son Lee Anthony have given recent depositions to the State Attorney's Office.

And Wednesday it could be George Anthony's turn.

Media reports have George Anthony prepared to testify under oath at the State Attorney's office in the case against his daughter, Casey Anthony.

Brad Conway, the Anthonys' attorney, did not respond to a request for comment.

George Anthony has talked under oath before. It was after he testified before an Orange County grand jury in October that Casey Anthony was indicted on a charge of first-degree murder, aggravated child abuse, aggravated manslaughter of a child and four counts of providing false information to law enforcement.

Check back for updates.
