Just to clarify...

The Nancy Grace blog and the OC Register are both displaying the same pictures? Did I read a post before wrong in saying there are other pictures released? Thanks for the help.

This is from earlier today, sorry if it is a repeat:

http://www.ktla.com/news/landing/ktla-alcala-other-victims-identified,0,1874604.story

Also, where would I find a good timeline, I found someone in Washington State that was missing in 1974; however, I think Alcala was in jail by the time she disappeared. Is there a timeline that is broken down into months?
Thanks for the link. I want them to show which photo's are ruled out.

There is a link to a time line, in my signature just below my name. One of the members here posted it.

All of the sites did not post all of the pictures and on some sites the pictures can be enlarged and others can't. There are links to two of the sites with the pic's in my signature line. I put them there so I would not have to keep hunting for them, lol.

This photo clearly shows the album Surrealistic Pillow (Jefferson Airplane 1967)

Not real helpful in pinning down the timeline, as we already know the timeline doesn't go much before 1967, but it may give an indication of his musical tastes in trying to figure out the others.

Does anyone else think it appears that shes crying in this photo?

If you look in the corner of her eye (by her nose) it seems to be wet, as if shes sobbing. :(

Most of the pictures are the same, but here and there there's a different one. Nancy Grace seems to have left out a few that are clearly the same person as one she posted. The Seattle Times also has a couple of different ones, like this one: http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/photogalleries/localnews2011323273/49.html

I'm not sure anybody has posted the entire collection. Some sources have said there are a thousand or more.

Yes, you're right. At least three tears on her left cheek (right side of photo). Two near her eye and one near the corner of her mouth.

I wanted to get a better side-by-side comparison. The image on the right is the only picture of Carlene Brown I could find, and believe me, I've searched around a lot.
I'd like to know if she was attending San Diego State at the time. It would also be nice to have a picture of her friend Christy Gross, who vanished with her on July 4, 1974 and whose body was found nine years later. There is almost nothing about her on the Web, not even a description.

I know the timeline is a problem, since Alcala may still have been in prison in July of '74, but the similarities in appearance are striking.

Here is the Nancy Grace link which can be enlarged:

It's shocking how little information there is about those two poor girls. It hadn't occurred to me that she might have been an SDU student.

Maybe send a pointer to the appropriate Wyoming LE asking them if it's possible?

Very good. Thank you. That makes it unlikely that this road is in Wyoming :)

Well, if it really is Carlene Brown, she could have been on summer vacation from SDSU and happened to be in Wyoming on July 4th.

The timeline is the problem here for an Alcala connection, but that seems to be the problem with several other cases with strong photo matches.

A King County, Washington woman who disappeared in 1976 may have been in the Alcala photos:

"In the 70s, some Washington counties did not always file missing persons report if they suspected the person left voluntarily. However, some relatives convinced a person was really missing filed reports in King County. That means this case may not involve a woman from the Puget Sound area."

http://www.seattlepi.com/local/417089_killer19.html

So far the only person I've found missing from WA in 1976 was Cherry Greenman.

Thank you so much for doing this side-by-side. The alcala picture on the left is the one that I was referring to but the Rose Cole picture on the right is not. The Rose Cole picture I was referring to can be found on post #18 at this link:

http://www.websleuths.com/forums/showthread.php?t=49787&highlight=rose+cole

Is there any way you can put the two side-by-side???

I keep seeing Rose Cole in those pictures posted, too. I thought, thought, judging from the timeline that he was in jail already when Rose went missing? Could some savvier sleuther than me clear this up?

Esther Gesler is missing from WA in 1976, although she was a bit older than the others, and authorities are focused on her husband as the likely perp.

Here are three others from WA, but they were all missing in 1974, not 1976.

That's true. I had been assuming she was a local girl, but she might well have gone to school at SDSU and been home for the summer.

San Diego State was a big rodeo school at the time. Since she and Christy disappeared from a major rodeo, she might have been a rodeo fan or participant.

added: I found this link with a little more information: http://www.crimezzz.net/serialkillers/W/WYOMING_RODEO_murders.php

"The first two victims, Carlene Brown, of Rawlins, and her good friend Christy Gross, of Bowdle, South Dakota, disappeared on Independence Day, while visiting the Little Britches Rodeo in Rawlins." So one local girl, one from out of town, might have met at college? But the timeline still doesn't work out. Gross's body was found only a few miles away; they were almost certainly killed shortly after they disappeared.

Unless there's some mistake about the date when Alcala was released on parole, however, it doesn't seem possible for him to be the killer. August 3 for parole release, July 4 for disappearance.

Laurie Partridge is a possibility. She disappeared in December; Alcala was released on parole at the beginning of August.

Post 490 above, pic of the blond, bottom left corner...is that a brown purse with a flower design on it? Looks like it might be to me. Light brown, maybe suede with a fuzzy fur type trim around the edge.?

The Laurie Partridge article says the contents of her purse were found but does not say the purse itself was found. A brown purse with an embroidered flower design.

The blond in the Alcala pic's appears to have shown up there well dressed and with her suitcases though. What if the suitcases are really not hers?

The blond in the Alcala pic's does not appear to have the mole Laurie Partridge does.

Looking at the pic of the blond, sitting in the chair next to the suitcase I do not think she looks like Partridge at all.

I do wonder why this blond has suitcases and winter boots that look like they are water proof snow boots though.
