Lawyers argue over Inman's wife's testimony
A defense lawyer and a prosecutor in the William A. “Bill” Inman aggravated-murder trial argued heatedly this afternoon about whether to admit his wife’s confession as evidence.

In the statement she made to an investigator on March 29, 2011, a week after their daughter-in-law was abducted, Sandra K. Inman disclosed the location of her strangled body and said that their son, William A. “Will” Inman II, killed her accidentally.

Inman doesn't take stand in murder trial
The prosecution and the defense rested their cases this afternoon in William A. “Bill” Inman’s murder trial without Inman taking the stand.

Jurors are scheduled to hear closing statements on Monday at 9 a.m. and then begin deliberations. Hocking County Common Pleas Court Judge John T. Wallace told jurors to bring their suitcases in case he must sequester them overnight during the deliberations.

Source: Verdict Reached In Case Of Man Accused Of Killing Daughter In Law
A verdict in the case of an Ohio man charged with aggravated murder and other crimes in the slaying of his daughter-in-law, who was strangled with a zip tie and dumped in a septic tank, was expected on Monday evening.

William Inman Sr., 48, is on trial in the murder of 25-year-old Summer Inman.

The prosecutor said Inman ruled the family and wanted to help his son, who was in a child custody dispute with Summer Inman as they went through a divorce.
"If she's not there, who would get custody of the children, their father and his parents," said Assistant Attorney General Paul Scarsella.

But Inman's attorney argued that it was the son who killed Summer.

Inman, 48, could receive the death penalty if he is convicted of aggravated murder and other charges in the abduction, zip-tie strangulation and corpse abuse of his 25-year-old daughter-in-law, Summer D. Inman, on March 22, 2011.

So glad the jury saw things (IMO) correctly here. LWOP for him is fine with me. They were all involved; therefore, equally guilty, again IMO. The rest of their sentences will come when they face final judgment.

R.I.P. Summer.

A southeast Ohio woman told authorities in a taped confession that her son accidentally strangled his estranged wife with a plastic zip tie before his parents helped him dump the body in a church septic tank.
Sandra Inman, 47, told investigators in 2011 that she wanted to see her grandchildren more so she came up with the idea of forcing her daughter-in-law into the car in Logan so they could discuss the issue, according to a transcript of the interview. Once Summer Inman was forced into the back seat, her wrists were bound with zip ties.

Murder confession unsealed in Inman case
Summer Inman’s mother-in-law told an investigator it was her idea to snatch the mother of three in downtown Logan and force her into a car so she could beg for weekend visits with her grandchildren.

“I thought I could talk to her,” Sandra K. Inman told a deputy sheriff in March 2011. Hocking County Common Pleas Judge John T. Wallace released her confession yesterday.

For Summer Inman’s family, wounds are deep, healing slow
As they grow up without their mommy, the children of Summer Dawn Inman ask questions about her.

They also ask about their dad, William A. “Will” Inman II; their “Papaw,” William A. “Bill” Inman; and their “Nana,” Sandra K. Inman, all imprisoned for their mother’s murder.

Summer’s parents — Debra and Michael Cook — answer their grandchildren’s questions truthfully but carefully, often consulting the counselor whom 7-year-old Alex and 5-year-old Kaley visit regularly. Alanna, now 3 1/2, does not ask as many questions.

http://www.dispatch.com/content/stor...ling-slow.html

“For the first six to nine months, we didn’t tell them anything,” Mrs. Cook said. But when Alex entered kindergarten last school year with classmates who knew what had happened, his grandparents knew they couldn’t put it off any longer.

“We started telling him at counseling,” Mrs. Cook said. “We were afraid of saying the wrong thing. ... You have to tell the truth and protect him at the same time.”

Much more!
