A 13-yr olds most essential possession is a cell phone. Hopefully authorities have checked for usage? And wouldn't relatives and friends of the girl be alarmed if she did not touch base before/after the planned sleepover??
There's an extremely laid-back flavor to this one: no parents pleading for info/witnesses, no police updates (aside from one to squelch a rumor). In a small town like Colorado City TX, I'd think the whole town would be buzzing, and the locals would be worried about safety of their children.
I agree with all of the above! My H tried to get hold of someone at their PD last night. It was late and all he got was voicemail. He did leave a message. No return call so far. Not a good sign, IMO. I hope Bivens is busy following leads, but the story in their local paper said he's back where he started after questioning everyone he could.
I'm told the reason CCity didn't have a PD for a while was becaause they couldn't afford to pay for it, so I suspect that even now, Bivens probably doesn't have much help; 2 or 3 officers , maybe, and when the pay is bare minimum, how experienced can they be? Kimster is correct; the county sheriff would cover what the city guys can't, but it sounds like Bivens is in charge in this case.
I realize that way too often, missing children aren't taken seriously until it is too late to help them. I am afraid that this poor child is in real danger, if not already dead! CCity is right there on I-20...if she was on foot and someone took her, Kimster is right...she could be anywhere. If I understand correctly, there has not even been a search party!
The parent's names are on the Myspace. I can't really contact them without "interfering", now that my H (APD Chief) has tried to call Chief Bivens...not politically correct you know. Anyone else want to see if they can find an e-mail or Facebook for one of them?
All of the above is MOO. My opinions are not necessarily the same as my H, who would never put his opinions on a discussion board or discuss confidential details of any investigation with me. For some weird reason, he's afraid it would end up on Websleuths, then on Nancy Grace!
