I think you might be on the right track. IMO, You would think her husband or mother might have said something about any recent depression? It's possible such information was relayed to LE, which might be why they had insisted they were not of the belief the husband was involved (I read that in a few different articles). Also (and again MOO) she did apparently lose her job a few weeks back, which could have triggered or escalated some depressive tendencies.
Very sad situation. I must say, I initially was suspicious of the situation and had convinced myself the husband was involved. I think I need to work on not jumping to conclusions...

I sure would like to know what happened, just to put my mind to rest about this one.
Rest in peace, Rebecca....

Officials downplay suspicions in diver Rebecca Weiss' death
Rebecca Weiss' mother and brother were near the area passing out fliers when recreational divers found the body about 11:30 a.m.
Not much new in the article but the video shows some footage I'd not seen before (area and Rebecca's brother).

ETA: I hope we will learn about the autopsy results tomorrow (Monday), even if as yet incomplete.

Autopsy Completed On Diver Found In Waters Off Rancho Palos Verdes
The coroner told Evans that while the autopsy was complete, the cause of death was being “deferred pending further investigation.”
Evans explains, “The coroner said this could mean several things..."
(Evans is KCAL9 reporter Carter Evans.)
I'm staying within WS limits on quoting just 10% of the article. Please read it for further details. :-)

Speculating...
IF the death investigation (by LE) is not yet finished, the Coroner could be waiting for its completion before releasing the COD and further autopsy details. We saw a similar situation in the death of Whitney Houston earlier this year.
Also, imo, the Manner of Death would not be declared until LE's death investigation is done.

Husband of missing diver says he’s trying to ignore rumors
In an interview with the TV show "Inside Edition," Alan Weiss said, "At the end of the day, Rebecca was incredibly kind. She wanted me to be as kind as she was. That's a tough thing to do."
He said his wife's friends have stood beside him "every minute." The couple had been married for about 20 years.
Lots more at article, linked above.

Could someone confirm or deny that there actually are her car keys and her cell phone missing from her bag that was found on the beach?
Is this true?
If rumor I will delete..
TIA

Anyone familiar with this Indian saying? What does it mean?

No article I have yet read on-case has stated that those items were found anywhere at all. afaik, they are still missing.

IOW, I have no idea what it means in terms of its purported origin (but I could guess).

Another article quoting the saying and referencing the Inside Edition interview:
Missing diver's husband shrugs off comments
Although homicide detectives investigated the case, the Sheriff's Department has since downplayed the family's suspicions.
Alan Weiss refused to talk to the Daily Breeze, which published his mother-in-law's comments.

ITA about the missing/stolen items, and thus the continuing death investigation and delay in the Coroner's final report.

From the article linked above by Plumeria in post #40:
The Los Angeles County coroner has completed an autopsy on a woman who went missing while free diving off the coast the Rancho Palos Verdes.
But doctors are conducting more tests this week to determine the cause of death, said a Los Angeles County Coroner's Office spokesperson.
So perhaps it is NOT the death investigation by LE that is holding-up the Coroner's final report.

Would the husband have gone to the beach with her if he was planning to kill her, where he might be seen? Or taken her body there? It doesn't seem logical to me. Too risky.
