Mary Kennedy 52 found dead Estranged from Robert F Kennedy

Let’s just call it what it is: the natural fallout when you’re a member of a family riddled with entitled, underachieving drunks, drug addicts and adulterers, whose treatment of women is historically deplorable.

The day after Mary Kennedy was found hanging in her barn, her estranged husband did what his family does best: sincerely insincere damage control.

Well said. I don't get the fascination some people have with the K's, including JFK. Seems like their wives put up with an incredible amount of nonsense from all of the K men. Jackie new full well JFK was a casanova, and I believe her demure soft-spoken act was just that.

Twice-married RFK Jr., despite the ongoing rancor with the Richardson clan, spoke about his love for Mary, their London honeymoon — and their final conversation, one day before her suicide.

“She said, ‘You know me better than anyone,’ and I said, ‘Yes,’ ” he told a hushed church, his voice breaking at times.

“And she said, ‘I was a good girl.’ And I said, ‘Yes, you were a good girl.’ ”

RKJ says his wife did NOT leave a suicide note but I suspect this is the reason Mary called her husband on Tuesday.

Because there is no criminal investigation into her death, Robert can keep the innntimate details of their last conversation to himself.

Mary Kennedy Laid to Rest in Centerville

After the memorial service, Mary Kennedy was laid to rest in Centerville, Mass., Saturday evening.

Members of the procession gathered just after 6 p.m. at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery in Centerville to pay their respects. Mary Kennedy was buried near the graves of Eunice Kennedy and her husband R. Sargent Shriver. Local police had entries to the cemetery blocked off, as many vehicles slowed along Pine Street to catch a glimpse of yet another somber day for the Kennedy family.

Her family are having a private memorial service on Monday at the Standard Hotel in Manhattan which is owned by Balazs.

This news is just so incredibly sad. I DON'T suspect any foul play, I just see an overwhelmed, depressed, and lonely woman who obviously didn't receive appropriate help for her issues. SO sad that she left behind FOUR young children; their lives are now forever changed. What I am left wondering is: Did the Kennedy 'machine' choose to abandon her or was there any attempt to get her help? Surely there were warning signs that she wasn't thinking straight, beginning with her DUI arrest right after her husband left her, and probably long before... With all of their power and money, did her husband (ex) and his family even try to help her, or did they disown her/ leave her to her own devices (alone), thus pulling a "Pontius Pilate"> 'washing their hands' of her?? If so, then her blood/death is at least partially on their hands. It is criminal (to me) to know that someone is hopelessly depressed and then just ignore her. Those poor kids....

It is tragic that this woman felt she had to take her own life. In the Mail article it says that before they were separated he was driving her to the hospital during an episode, she got out of the car and ran away. I don't blame him, he tried to help her, I think she was beyond help.

Something else the article said, Mary was pregnant when she married him. Why don't the second wives ever think it will happen to them, as well?

Mr Kennedy divorced his first wife in the Dominican Republic a month before his second marriage. Mary gave birth to their first child three months later.

Neighbors in Bedford called Mary Kennedy a lovely woman who was active in community and school affairs, but had recently seemed a “bit off” — either medicated or intoxicated.
But a friend of Mary’s told The News that Mary feared her husband was trying to “gaslight” her — make her think she was going crazy.

Mr. Kennedy, in a somber interview, recalled meeting Mary Richardson when she was 14, not long after her father, a college professor in New Jersey, died. (After his death, she ran away with a puppet theater group for six months, he said.)

After his first marriage broke up, Mr. Kennedy and Mary saw each other at an event at an art gallery. He asked her for a date, and in 1994, soon after his divorce became final, they were married.

I'm not surprised to hear Mary seemed a "bit off. Afterall Mary Kennedy at 52 years of age would have been going through menopause and if her symptoms weren't treated they would cause her pain and suffering.

Mary was facing the end of her child bearing years when her husband filed for divorce.

The couple’s children are 18, 17 and 15 already so even if Robert gained permanent custody because they are adults, he wouldn’t have been able to stop them from visiting with their mother.

A bell tolled at the end of the service at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and Robert Kennedy touched the hearse lightly as it departed with her body.

The family traveled by bus from the church funeral in Bedford, N.Y., to the Cape for the graveside service. Members of the procession gathered just after 6 p.m. at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery in Centerville to pay their respects.

Mary Kennedy was buried near the graves of Eunice Kennedy and her husband R. Sargent Shriver and here is a video of Sargent Shriver's burial at St. Francis Xavier Cemetary. He was buried after dark on a cold Saturday night in January and members of Sargent Shriver’s procession arrived on a bus named “Peter Pan”.

I'm sure her family receives NO comfort, knowing that Mary was buried so near Sargent and Eunice. Not that they weren't good ppl...the Shrivers were indeed, imo...but they are not her blood kin, at the very least.

I'm equally sure that one who claims a person in death when same person did not serve the departed in life will pay a toll.

Not naming names, just saying.

Pitiful, the whole thing!

Robert and Emily were married 12 years.
They were married on April 3, 82 and divorced on March 25, 1994. Couple have 2 children.
Robert’s date of birth: January 17, 1954
Emily Black's dob October 15, 1967
Mary Richardson: only found her year of birth 1960

Mary and Robert were married in a civil ceremony on April 15, 1994 aboard a research vessel along the Hudson River. Mary was in her midthirties and this was her first marriage. Her and Robert were married for 16 years. Robert filed a petition to divorce Mary in May 2010.

Robert is 58 y.o. and he recently filed RO on March 28, April 19, and last Friday.

Order of Protection last September 2011 and another Judge held Mary in Contempt of Court.

Next Court date: August 10 followed by a four-day trial in September 2012.

Shortly after Robert and Emily were married in 1982, Kennedy was arrested in a Rapid City, South Dakota airport for heroin possession. A search of his carry-on bag uncovered 183 milligrams of the drug. Upon entering a plea of guilty, Kennedy, then 29 years old and a first-time offender, was sentenced to two years probation, periodic tests for drug use, treatment by joining Narcotics Anonymous and 1500 hours of community service by Presiding Judge Marshall P. Young. After the court was satisfied with Kennedy’s compliance with the sentence, it ordered that Kennedy’s record regarding the offense was to be sealed and expunged.

In 1984, Kennedy joined the Riverkeeper organization to satisfy the 1500 hours community service to which he was sentenced. He worked with the group to sue alleged polluters of the Hudson River. After his 1500 hours were complete, the group hired Kennedy as its chief attorney. While at Riverkeeper, Kennedy hired William Wegner, a falconry friend who had pleaded guilty to federal criminal charges of smuggling bird eggs from Australia in contravention of the laws of Australia and the United States. Robert Boyle, NY Riverkeeper’s founder and former president fired Wegner but Kennedy rehired him. Eight members of the Riverkeeper board walked out of the board meeting in protest and resigned from the board. Riverkeeper was founded in 1966 by a group of fishermen and residents from New York.

Kennedy is a licensed master falconer and former president of the New York State Falconer’s Association. He is also an avid whitewater rafter and has led several rafting trips in Canada and Central America. He appeared in the IMAX documentary film Grand Canyon Adventure: River at Risk, riding the length of the Grand Canyon with his daughter and with anthropologist Wade Davis.

How do you 'gaslight' someone who has mental issues? When you are dealing with a spouse who has alcohol, drug and/or mental issues, you can only ride the crazy train for so long and then you have to detach. What happened to this woman is tragic, she had serious issues and took her life because of them. There is no conspiracy, there is no 'smoking gun', in the end it is just a tragedy. I am surprised, in her own family, that there was no one there to help her. How do you not know one of your siblings is suicidal? I think that Kennedy stepped up, for the sake of their children, and got them through the day. Perhaps what he did was what the children wanted. She was buried in the place that, presumably, her children will be buried. This is not about a family 'dynasty', this is about a troubled woman who could not go on.

I would not be surprised if the first Mrs. K was 'humiliated' because her divorce was finalized when the second Mrs. K was six months pregnant.

I was going through Mary’s photo stream and photo number 5 shows Robert Kennedy Jr, Mary Kennedy, and Cheryl Hines together at the Gala fundraiser in Salt Lake City Utah on December 4 2010.

She was five months pregnant when he divorced his first wife. She thought he would "change" because of her? Where were her qualms about adultery when she took up with a married man?
