The mother and family of a Nova Scotia girl are making a renewed plea for her to call home after five days of searching have produced no sign of the 12-year-old.

Penny Boudreau says she desperately needs to know if her daughter Karissa Boudreau "is OK'' and would be happy just to hear her voice on the telephone.

Seated next to the girl's biological father, Boudreau's current common-law partner, and several aunts, the mother pleaded with the public for any information.

It doesn't seem to be any more updates that I can find tonight, but if I hear anything I will keep y'all posted.

Why so late on examining the remains?? Why not Monday or Tuesday??

Dearest Littledeer,:blowkiss:
They are taking so long for the autopsy because the remains are frozen in the snow. They were working for quite a while to remove the body from the snow and ice.
They want to preserve the integrity of the evidence around and on the body.

The medical examiner is expected to begin an autopsy Wednesday, which will likely reveal whether it is Boudreau. It's not clear if the autopsy will immediately identify the cause of death.

I am so sorry to hear this. I'm glad Karissa's family can have closure. But I know this must be terrible for her family. And I'm sure her mom is beating herself up that the last time she saw Karissa, they were fighting.

Sad sad, Valentine's Day.

From the above link:

Investigators are not releasing details of their murder probe, but acknowledged they know how the girl was killed and when.

----

I wonder if there are any surveillance videos of that parking lot.
