GUILTY TX - Ronald Shumway, 57, found buried at his Dallas home, 23 April 2015

No, it's not you, lol.

Here are two listings for the property:
http://dfw.blockshopper.com/property/00000273196000000/725_n_winnetka_avenue
http://www.arivify.com/property/search/8FkXu7Emx
(The exact address was posted in one of the articles so in MSM)

If you can find the FB MSM postings about this you'll find some very interesting comments from locals on there, including one where a mother, whose son had been chased by the previous homeowner as a child, speculated it's the remains of his mother.

I think it's all very intriguing anyway but not sure how much of what I found I can post. Did alert a mod as I think I'm not too good at starting threads.
And yes, to your question.

Almost two weeks and no updates yet...

When we saw that house on the news my husband immediately recognized it to be a house that we dropped an old neighbor off at about 6 months ago. He was an interesting individual, a drifter, kind of a gypsy man. He lived downstairs from us for about about 2 years with a friend of his. He told us that he was moving into the Winnetka home with a man he had just met, the home owner was a Dart Bus driver and had inherited that home after his mothers passing. We helped him get some stuff into the house. He said that the owner had just removed some unruly tenants from the right side of the duplex and he would be living in the room they moved out of. The removal process wasn't on the best of terms. The walls were covered in spray paint and it was pretty trashed. We visited the home twice but never saw the home owner, both visits were very short tho. After seeing the news we called Dallas PD to make sure that the body was not our friend. A detective came out and interviewed my husband. He didn't want much other than to see if my husband recognized a picture that he wanted to show him. Sure enough, the photo was of the guy we used to live next to. It was a mugshot. He asked my husband to identify the individual by name, then sign and date the picture. My husband asked him if it was our friend who was deceased and he said that he couldn't tell us, that the body had not been identified yet. We have tried to contact the friend since the news aired but no luck, and we hadnt heard from him for months prior to the body recovery. So naturally we are very curious as well to find out who this body is. Hoping that it isnt our friend and that he had nothing to do with it, but considering the photo the detective had... we just arent sure. He said that we should be able to find out who the body is when its been identified and the news airs it. We plan to call in a month if we dont hear anything.

Noone has been reported missing from that house afik. Also, none of prev. landlords friends is asking what happened to him, I think that is strange since he was communicating with some of them daily.
Prev. landlords cousin however is saying (mods!: all public addresses, names, pages, etc...) prev. landlord sent him a message early Sep. saying he had incurable prostate cancer.

I'm very sorry your friend may be involved in this, one way or another.
I hope I don't sound heartless here, but it does sound as if it is your friend they have found.
I'm so sorry, I can't even imagine the feelings I would have in a situation like this...
Let's wait for confirmation one way or another. It's nearly been a month, should be soon...
:heartbeat:

Oh I forgot to add... you said you dropped your friend off ab. 6 months ago.
Would just like to add if I didn't do so previously that homeowner stopped posting abrubtly 5 1/2 month ago.

Thank you for your kind words! Yea still no word yet, going to wait a week and then call the Detective to see if there has been an update. It does sound like he has something to do with it, hopefully not but very likely. We honestly wouldnt be surprised, considering the lifestyle that he led. Its very possible that he got himself into something that he couldnt get out of. Whoever it is, I hope that they are identified soon so the family members can have some closure. His family would have no idea that he was even missing, he contacted them very rarely. Will update you all if I get anymore information.

A little update:
Not sure what to make of this. Dallas PD wants to find the former homeowner, or any of his relatives.
Do they need his DNA, or do they want to know where he's hiding out?
Or are they reporting him missing?

"Ronald Shumway, who lived at 725 N Winnetka Avenue, Dallas, has not been seen or heard from since April 23, 2015. The Dallas Police Department is asking anyone with information regarding Mr. Shumway or any of his family members to call Homicide Detective Montenegro at 214-671-3624."

There is apparently a $5,000 reward leading to an arrest and indictment, but doesn't give details.

I think btw the DPD are quite good, asking for info while managing to not give any out, and leaving us clueless.
Very annoying for me but quite impressive, their way of doing it, tbh. Just my opinion.
I hope this is solved very soon. My thoughts go out to any family and friends of the victim...
Who I guess we here know are one of two people. xx

Someone forged Shumway's signature when the house was sold in June.

Sean Chien, a residential investor, bought the house from Shumway. He said in a phone interview that Shumway was present at the closing in June. Shown a picture of the missing man, however, Chien texted, “that’s not him.”

Remains are still not identified.

dallasvoice have published FB posts supposedly written by Shumway in late April/ May:
http://www.dallasvoice.com/posed-shumway-house-closing-texts-shumway-austin-10207455.htmledium=facebook

this sounds like it is probably RS. I bet that investor regrets that purchase. what a mess.

I wonder what that friend of Mrs. Snodgrass has to do with this, if anything.

also, it seems like whoever was posting to RS's fb about the cowboy and moving, was not really RS.

It gets even weirder! He was Facebook friends with a judge quoted in this article.

http://www.wfaa.com/story/news/loca...on-facebook-posts-in-murder-mystery/75066840/

Creuzot said Shumway sent him a Facebook request a couple of years ago. Shumway told him that he'd worked in the records department of the District Attorney's office. Creuzot has a vague recollection, but says he never really knew Shumway other than through his Facebook postings.

"Police told NBC5 that Shumway’s notarized signature on the deed document appears to have been forged. (We’ve been through something similar to this before with southern Dallas properties, (http://www.dallasnews.com/opinion/l...robberson-did-fonteno-abuses-constitute-fraud. ),
where large numbers of house deeds were transferred without the actual owner’s knowledge or consent."

http://dallasmorningviewsblog.dalla...s-house-is-sold-with-a-forged-deed-hmmm.html/

This article contains a link to a story about mortgage fraud which previously happened in Dallas.

It also lists the names of the companies which bought and sold the house each time and the names of the persons who are associated. It says that they found a rib cage, nothing about whether they found more than that. Hmmm indeed!

this case reeks, really hinky.

Yes... and I don't think Mrs. Snodgrass' gypsy/ drifter friend could have done this all, at least not on his own.

This is not just simple fraud hello.

Someone impersonated Shumway at least twice months before the house was sold.
Posting to his FB pretending they were him, sending the resignation email to his employers.
Saying g'bye, I met a guy in Austin/ I have terminal cancer/ won't come back/ bye/ I'm moving out w/e, none of it written like he normally writes.
Then he turns up in June to the sale of his house and signs the papers, only, it wasn't him.

It's interesting that the police asks where Shumway is, but never asked Mrs. Snodgrass or hubby if they knew where their friend was.
She said she/ hubby tried to contact him, I wonder if she/ hubby checked recent arrest records also?

Was the mugshot recent?
And how did they (LE) know he (Mrs. Snodgrass' friend) once lived there when the house was empty of all traces of previous occupants and they couldn't even get DNA of the person who lived there for 30+ years?

I wish Mrs. Snodgrass could come back because I have some questions!

PS. Sorry if some of what I write do not make sense. I have been drinking wine.

What a really, really strange case. WHO is the UID?
