GUILTY MS - Linda Reed for embezzlement, Copiah County, 2012

I may have missed it but I haven't seen anything about the IRS being involved. Do you have a link? TIA

My mistake. I could have sworn that the following article mentioned the IRS when I first read it, because I thought that that would have been very peculiar. The article and quote that threw me:

Currently authorities are looking over the books of Moore's Fabrications for the last several years.
...
"My biggest concern is my daughters and their future," he said. "This is a horrible thing, not knowing what's going to happen. We're dealing with the federal government, and we don't know if we're going to end up owing back taxes. It's definitely a trial."

Maybe my mind just jumped to the conclusion over the worry about the back taxes.

Did she embezzle or just write bad checks? I am not gonna jump on someone for bad checks written 38 years ago...I've bounced a few in my lifetime, and my DH isn't my first...or second (third time's a charm lol, but we've been togrther 20 years). Having said that, I don't think she did anything except be at the wrong place at the wrong time or found out something that got her into trouble. JMHO

If I remember correctly, it said she forged checks in 1974 but the judge dropped the charges.

I believe this is the area where her vehicle was found (by the abandoned shed?). This is just west of the south Crystal Springs exit on Pat Harrison Dr. Very convenient to dumping a vehicle and/or being picked up and jumping right back on the interstate. Of note...there is pond just west/left of here you can see if scroll.

Weird, that it's north of her work, but Walmart is south of her work.

Plus, it was stated that the judge dismissed the charges. Maybe it was a feud between her and an ex or something, he said she said sort of thing, idk .... But there had to be a good reason for the charges to just be dismissed.

ETA: Look at the last name listed on the right. I knew I had seen a T in her names somewhere. There is a LT listed also in the first business. Maybe cohinkydink, but found it interesting. Click her name and look at the list here.

Whoa!@!! Check this out. This business is only a little over a mile away where her car was found. The owner on the manta site above is the father.

Nice work. This makes things a little crazier. It also would explain why there was one set of tracks. I wonder which way her car was facing when it was found. My guess is that it was facing the west.

From watching helicopter video, I assumed it was facing into the woods. Away from Pat Harrison Dr. But they never zoomed out far enough for me to be positive. A path just past that little building, heads northeast, according to Bing and Google Earth.

Are you suggesting her vehicle could have been driven in from a different direction?

I had the two points backward. So I should have said that I figured it was facing east. I'm saying that I think it was driven there from the nearby business.

Another weird statement from a media source, that I don't have right now, said it looked like her purse had been gone through. But that source and other media all reported her $60 cash and cards were not taken. Hmmm.

Question for anyone.
Would businesses like those deal in cash? IOW, would someone have to make cash deposits? I know banks aren't open on Sundays, but ... okay I guess that was a dumb question.

They likely would not deal in cash. I'm not sure why that would matter. This does not seem like a robbery.

I also read that her purse had been gone through, but her cash and cards were not taken. It wasn"t a robbery, so...?

The $60 was cash she got back when making her first purchase at Walmart. At least thats what LE has said publicly. They also found her receipt for her purchases. Seems like I recall them saying that they didn't know if she had actually returned for her second trip to Walmart. I don't think she was there on video footage a second time.

What would a suspect have wanted in her purse that was not cash or credit cards? Someone has said a prescription....or medication bottle. Not a bad guess. But if not that, then what? Was it a ruse?

She might have rummaged through her own purse. I'm not sure how they could tell. Was some of the stuff from her purse thrown around in the car? Or was it just spilled? In any case, it's very unlikely that a pill thief would kidnap or kill her. Either she disappeared on her own or someone she knows is involved in her disappearance.
