If I have this right based on news reports...Joran
Drugged Stephany, kidnapped her, beat her, strangled her, and possibly stabbed her. And also possibly raped her. (Reports said there was no evidence of a sexual assault but there could be evidence of consentual sex.

"Joran says" the attack took place in the first half hour they were there.

Article on Joran's former girlfriend, Melody Granadillo, to be interviewed by Chris Cuomo on 20/20 Fri. night.

I looked up Melody on Facebook and, surprisingly, found she lists John Ludwick as a friend. But neither Melody or John list Joran as a friend...but I imagine Joran's Facebook page has been removed by now. When you look up Joran Van Der Sloot on FB, there are 15 listed, I imagine they are all bogus.

I'm wondering if it's because he has been charged but not yet convicted. And, then if convicted will be transferred to Lurigancho.

I've been trying to find out if his neighbor Hugo Trujillo Ospina is awaiting trial or has already been convicted and can't seem to find anything to confirm.

I don't think Ospino has been convicted yet, as I read he was just extradited there from Argentina in April.

But, he, unlike Joran, must have friends on the outside, since he reportedly has a TV in his cell.

Well I think much of that is initial misinformation. No rape or attempted rape, we think now.

He massively elbowed her to the face (IMO), her skull was fractured which almost always means significant brain damage. Then he strangled her "for a minute" with his hands and finished her off via strangling with his shirt.
Kidnapping comes from his own stupid mouth, saying "she tried to escape" or such. Somehow I do not think they will add the kidnapping charge.

Did you not see my write-up yesteday on a likely elbowing scenario?

It was likely massive IMO and not a "glancing blow to the nose."

While the COD was strangling, she likely was no longer the same Stephany after the elbowing--while probably up against a wall--while he was trying to get her PIN numbers or something else, IMO.

Him removing her shoes and pants was either to stage a rape (by someone else) or he thought of taking the body out, perhaps in parts. But that is just too much work for him. (Look at how sweaty Dexter gets when he processes his vics.)

Yes, he was extradited from Argentina in April.
He left his DNA under Myriam Fefer's fingernails.

Only later did it come out that he was hired by Fefer's own daughter and her female lover, Liliana Castro. Those two were also recently charged, and everyone there waits forever it seems for their trials.

Presumably Fefer's daughter and her lover found Ospina on the internet--as he has, or had, a site that offered his services as a hitman!!!

That may not have anything to do with jail. That's just how most people live in Alabama.

(I am so sorry, McDraw. I never could resist an Alabama joke. I really am very sympathetic to how your brother's situation must feel for him and you. And I agree with you that prisoners should be treated with decency and their relatives shouldn't be bilked for providing necessities.)

(ETA: I'm from Florida myself. Alabama jokes are a big part of our cultural legacy.)

The JL guy was a friend on Facebook at least the night he was on NG and JVS was listed as one of his friends with lots of comments about him...he has probably removed him now which would be a good idea I think,lol, FWIW

To me I wasn't even sure it was a handshake. It looked more like they were knuckle bumping like you see people doing today especially in sports. If it was a knuckle bump that is a more familiar type of greeting which tells me they had indeed been on friendly terms.

MCDRAW I did a little searching on Alabama county jails and ran across this article and thought you'd find it interesting.
This was from 2009 and talks about how a group of defense lawyers took up a collection to provide some basic items for a jail there, including 2,000 bars of soap. Not sure which jail your brother is at but it does sound like there are some problems there, have you contacted any of the local or state agencies?
There are certain guidelines that they should be following.

Oh, sadly enough, Anita may still be proud of Joran. While on another forum I discovered this link of Palus & Anita interview with CBS shortly after Natalee disappeared. Anita verbally attacks the Holloway family because of what she calls their "slander" of Joran. It sure gives some insight into how Joran's family protected & enabled him.

My brother has been transferred to a prison in Alabama. He doesn't tell me alot of things that goes on anymore because he knows it upsets me. I believe that whole system is a scam. I have been to visit and the visiting area was the dirtiest place I have ever been too. There were not even safe chairs to sit in so no telling how bad his living conditions are. It's better for me not to think about it. He did the crime so he needs to do the time but I would like him to do it humanely.

Faw...yeah almost reminds me of the Anthonys....enablers all.
Both Paulus and Anita knew what kind of a son they were rearing....coddling him and pampering him and no doubt if her didn't get what he wanted he pulled 'infant' temper tantrums....until he got what he wanted.

Just watching the Anthonys jailhouse tapes with Casey, showed how they
handled her with kid gloves. They knew her rage and IMO knew she murdered little Caylee.

Well both are behind bars now.......the only thing I wonder about is......whose trial will be ending first.....

It amazes me that neither set of parents seem to have any real understanding of what utter enabling *advertiser censored* they look like.

I believe it just depends on the prison or jail. Some prisons will give a toiletries kit to the inmates with the cheapest of cheapest deodarant, toothpaste, toothbrush, soap. However in some prisons, such as the prison where Texas death row prisoners are held, all the simple hygiene products must be bought from commissary, atleast according to what some inmates have claimed.
 
Hello everybody ... this is my first post. I am concerned about the safety of the judge that will question JVDS on Monday. Going to Castro Castro will put him in great danger as I'm sure (imoo) he is responsible for the incarceration/detention of many of the inmates there.
Does anyone know about the security measures that will be taken to ensure that the judge won't be accosted? After all, one warden lost his life already. MOO

There is a very fine line between enabling and what you do because you think that's what family does. I know my mom has enabled my brother at times not because she was trying to enable him but because she thought that's what she should do as a Mother. I can't figure out the Anthony's. I say I would do what was needed to be done to get justice for Caylee. I really don't know because I haven't been in their shoes and I hope and pray I never am. I would imagine it would be hard to admit you raised a killer.
