GUILTY IN - Jeremy, 21, & Kyleigh Crane, 7, found murdered, Cumberland, 9 Dec 2011

I just had my whole post ready and pressed the wrong key ,Grrrrrrr.

So this is pretty much what i said it was gonna be in my earlier post . I assume we will hear how they didn't know what they were doing because they were high on meth or coke . The only reason bell turned himself in is so he can be the first one to turn on the other guy and get out of the DP. I forget where i said this now but this is what i said was happening to often that one will turn on the other and get the deal for life instead of the DP. It's the same thing thats happening with someone thats commited a murder or murders. They use the loved ones remains as a way to escape the DP. Im tired of it they need to make an example to stop that and these too are a good start..

Indianapolis gun dealer Don Davis tells FOX 59 News that he hosted a meeting Saturday afternoon between one of Bell's relatives and investigators.

The relative came forward seeking a $10,000 reward Davis posted for tips leading to the killer.

That relative told investigators he would encourage Bell to surrender. :woohoo:

Here's a link to a recent article, where a local businessman offered his own $10K reward leading to the arrest. Nice guy, IMHO

Businessman hopes $10K reward leads to breaks in deaths of girl, uncle

First of all, in this article linked, it says he was taken into custody at the jail. So he turned himself in, but he was already there? Perhaps he was at the residence where they had police action and taken in for questioning. He knew his goose was cooked.

PERHAPS someone took this guy up on his $10K reward. Fine with me. Whatever it takes!

JMHO

Michael Bell, 22, Turned Himself In To Police Early Sunday, Investigators Say

Was it confirmed that they broke in?

Not to my knowledge. Touche. To me it matters not if they knocked on the door and forced their way in or broke in. The end result is a dead 21 year old uncle who by all accounts thus far was a hardworking guy who cared about his nieces and nephews and a dead 7 year old little girl whose only crime was to be home ill that day.

I was just wondering if these men were in the home, as in on a visit, and something went wrong...or if they forced their way in. LE said they are not revealing motive, which makes me wonder if there is one, and it was not just robbery. JMO

Sorry, just came back and reread my post and realized it was more bristly than necessary. Totally not your bad, just the way in which I took it. All is well.

Im glad he surrendered, but I'm not sure how to take the relative seeking the 10,000, I mean I guess they should but how long did they know ? I guess thats my question, did they know before the reward ?
What a horrible mess...........

2 arrested in connection with Cumberland slayings

CUMBERLAND, Ind. (AP) - Indianapolis-area police have arrested two men in connection with the fatal shootings of a Cumberland man and his niece.

Authorities say 25-year-old Jeremy Priel and 22-year-old Michael Bell Jr. face preliminary charges of murder after the Monday slayings of 21-year-old Jeremy Crane and 7-year-old Kyleigh Crane. The girl had stayed home sick from school that day at the home her uncle shared with his mother

What a horrible waste of two beautiful lives.

At this link, Bell is referred to as a family friend. WOW!

In part:

The family of the victims held a press conference Sunday afternoon and said Bell had previously stayed at the family's home where the murders happened.

"Both of my children loved him. I don't understand how someone can do something so horrible," said Holly Wilson, Kyleigh's mother.

The article goes on to say that the gun used in the murders was stolen from a home last Sunday, used on Monday. :(

In another article I read that Bell spent a lot of time visiting at the house when he lived in the apartments across the street while he was in school. Link on this thread somewhere. So, he knew that the home would have electronic goodies, and it wasn't a case of someone wanting desperately to give their children nice things for Christmas, it was these two slobs wanting to give themselves nice things, for free, without having to work for it.

I am so heartbroken, just keep reading this thread over and over. Bad thing to do.

Kyleigh was such a precious and vivacious little girl, what a waste. And, it sounds to me like Jeremy's mother did a real good job of raising him for him to be so generous and loving. That, too, is a terrible waste. What a sweet person he must have been.

IMO this relative would not have turned Bell in if no reward had been offered. Don, of Don's guns is a smart old guy and he will be able to determine if this man knew and only told of Bell's guilt after the reward was announced. It was on Tuesday I think that the reward was offered. Crime stoppers always offers $1000 for any tips.

This video below is so sad. This Michael Bell was Jeremy's bff for years. His mom even did Michael's laundry, fed him, welcomed him as did the rest of the family. He was LIKE family to them. It's almost like they can't believe it was him. :(

Kyleigh's little brother even referred to him as "Uncle Mike." ............OMG, how sad is that?!

RIP Jeremy and Kyleigh. I don't know why you had to leave so soon, but it was meant for you to be together into eternity.

Something happen a month ago. Bell was living in the Crane home until 1 month ago. At the same time he stopped working in the cafetria where Jeremy worked.

Bell and his family never came to give condolences to the Crane family after the murders. The Crane family stood behind Bell when he was charged with rape, went to court every day.

Why is this ringing a bell? Tell me this isn't the kid who gained community support and was featured on the front pages of some mags and papers as a poor victim of the justice system.

Suzi I may be wrong but I thought that was 18 year old Marcus Dixon out of Georgia.

imo

I think Suzi might be thinking of Mychal Bell... he was my first thought too.

Obviously, with Michael's previous rape charges at the same time as Mychal's legal issues and incarceration, it can't be Mychal.
But wow... they do look like they could be the same person in some of the pictures.

Mychal Bell - 2 years ago

They went to court when he was charged with rape? Seriously?

We have some VERY close family friends. Cousins even. That are more like siblings.
We've bailed them out repeatedly. We've gone to pick them up at 3am when they were wasted.
We've supported them through addictions, visited in prison and taken custody of children for them.

But rape? I might support in private, but I am not going to court and publicly supporting you for that.
I would have concerns about my own family's safety in that case. So those were some devoted friends.

I guess it would all depend on how much the friends truly believed in his innocence.

If they fully believed Michael Bell and Jeremy had grown up with him for years they may have really thought he was innocent. I am sure they did or they wouldnt have come to court to support him. Evidently the jury didnt believe the victim either since he was aquitted.

I dont really know if he is a rapist or not but I sure do believe he is a double murderer.

He shot both of them because he knew they both could identify him. The other suspect the family didnt even know so he had no motive to shoot them but Michael Bell did.

He is going to try and say it was the other guy who did the shooting but he is the one that was supposed to have stolen the gun the day before.

This is the ultimate betrayal to all of the Crane family.

IMO

This case is just so messed up. This poor family.

IT takes a special kinda <unusual person> to kill a friend of many years who has supported you through thick and thin, not to mention put a bullet into a 7 yr old girl who called you Uncle Mike.

DP. All the way man.

My God! I figured it would turn out to be someone who knew the uncle, but this is just too much. I don't understand. :(
