Put like that it's flat out scary how quickly he picked-up pace. I did'nt count yet but it's like a month between the first 2, then almost 3 weeks, then bam every day, every other day. It seems like the first couple were to gauge how far he could push it then he figured he could easily find victims, then he was on a mission almost. It's pretty brave to use a knife to kill someone, the blood evidence alone! But to do it in the same city everyday?!

While I was out today I was obsessed looking at trucks and the people driving them. So many trucks that style, only one that looked two toned w/ gold/beige but it was to new. A couple double takes on dark jimmies. A couple double takes at guys at the gas station but to small. It's just crazy how many men look similar to the composite.

Very scary. I have been looking at vehicles also since I am not far from Leesburg. The escalation in attacks coupled with his insane driving habits are unbelievable. I would think that every state and local police agency, anywhere near the included areas, would be looking for this green/tan Chevy Blazer.
 
I will be in the area sometime this week and Im sure Ill be checking out every vehicle that matches the description too. This is really unfortunate and I dont understand how with him being so bold and doing this so often that he hasnt been caught.

Police say more video, which has not been released, shows the suspect attacking a teen with a hammer. By Friday, investigators working with the FBI expect to release a digitally enhanced photo from that video.

"The resources that are working to enhance this video are of the highest quality. So when I say that, I'm confident it will produce much more detailed information," said Officer Chris Jones, spokesperson for Leesburg Police.

The man stabbed near McLaren Hospital on Saturday has been officially ruled out as being part of the series. So, we are back down to 16 confirmed attacks, I believe.
 
A federal law enforcement official involved in the investigation said the man was traveling on an expired Israeli passport. The Michigan State Police and the FBI found he was in the airport and called the Transportation Security Administration, who implemented a ground stop of all flights. The airport was searched and the man arrested.

LE got a tip...

Late Wednesday afternoon one of those tips "developed into a strong investigative lead that identified an individual who has ties to both the Flint, Michigan and Leesburg, Virginia areas," police said.

The task force received hundreds of tips during the investigation, and one of them led to a beer store in Beecher, MIch., north of Flint, where the suspect previously worked, according to media reports.

Once the man was identified, investigators were able to electronically track him to Atlanta's Hartsfield Airport. At the time of his arrest, he was reportedly on a Delta flight preparing to fly to Israel.

The most recent attack occurred in Toledo on Saturday, when a minister was stabbed outside his church. Investigators were initially hesitant to link the attack to the serial killer but have since announced their suspicions that he is responsible, WSUA 9 News reported.

Michigan State Police on scene of possible slasher home, investigation underway

Michigan State Police were on the scene of a home in Flint Thursday morning that they believe may belong to the suspected serial stabber.

Investigators interviewed neighbors and went through trash at the home.

One neighbor says earlier this week she saw the man who lives in the home walk out with a suitcase.

Police have since left the home. There is no word on what, if any, evidence they took from the home.

Action News reporter Michael Rosenfield is in Flint gathering new information.

Elias Abuelazam's ex-mother-in-law in disbelief former son-in-law is Flint serial stabber suspect

FLINT, Michigan — The former mother-in-law of Elias Abuelazam said she's in shock that her former son-in-law is suspected as the Flint serial stabber.

"I’m very shocked," Kimberly Hirth said from Texas on Aug. 12, telling a reporter she was shaking and that the sketched photo of the suspect doesn't look much like Abuelazam. "I am so shocked. He was such a nice person as far as we knew."

She said her daughter, whom she did not want to identify, married Abuelazam on July 30, 2004 in Leesburg, Va. Hirth said she knew that her daughter and Abuelazam had fought at times and divorced in 2007.

Hirth said her daughter and Abuelazam met in Texas while he was visiting cousins who lived there. She said Abuelazam was Catholic.

In Leesburg, he worked at a hospital, Hirth said.

She said Abuelazam has a sister who lives in Leesburg.

"He’s originally from Israel and his mother lives there and his uncles," Hirth said.

Hirth said she thinks Abuelazam was born in Israel and that he had been in the United States for 10 years before he met her daughter.

On an Israeli site, someone reported that the name sounded Christian Palistinian. This, along with the fact that mostly Afro-Americans were targeted, would suggest that this was not "terrorism" but more likely racially motivated.
 
Thanks for the updates. Before bed last night my son was terrified to travel to Toledo today. We woke up and the only blurb I heard was that he was caught. It was great to say "Its all good LE got him".
 
Um Where did the composite sketch come from? Did they mix up cases or something? The suspect is not what I was looking for.
 
I find it interesting that the the only victim to say that he was Middle Eastern was the guy here in Toledo, which was different than everyone else's caucasian. Particularly since the alleged attackers neighbor said that she would have called police sooner on him, but the police were saying he was white, not Middle Eastern. I think that LE has GOT to start putting everything on the composites that the witnesses/victims have said, and perhaps they would be caught sooner. There was no reason that it couldn't have gone out after the attack in Toledo that THIS victim stated he was Middle Eastern. He also has a prominent cleft in his chin..I wonder if any vics reported that but it didn't make it to the composite either. Regardless, the Middle Eastern report should have been more widely spread.

Does anyone know, when they do a composite and decide to go with it, are they culling from ALL the victims, or do they get input from all the vics? If one victim says he is sure he had a cleft chin, but no one else says that, do they leave it off the composite then? Just curious

I would sure like to know where this guy was on 3-13-2008. I have been active on the 'Omaha Double Murder' thread- this guy has an uncanny resemblence to the composite of the POI in that case. There's a recent post on there with the two photos side by side- I'd almost bet it was him.

Not what I was looking for either. Had I seen him in that green blazer, drive by me, I would have dismissed him because of the descriptions and composite drawing.

I would guess that LE released a composite of a white man because the majority of victims described him that way. The only reference to a person of middle eastern descent, that I saw, came from the Toledo victim (and his attack came at the end, after the composite had been released).

The general perception: He looked like an average white guy in a baseball cap.

But those who knew suspected Flint serial stabber Elias Abuelazam, 33 — who police believe is responsible for 14 stabbings, including five deaths, in the Flint area since May— say the Beecher party store clerk and Israeli native does not match the physical description seen by thousands.

It’s not an uncommon scenario, experts say.

“History shows that the sketches that are put forward often don’t match the final suspect,” said Kenny Irby, a specialist in visual storytelling and diversity integration at the Poynter Institute.
