CA CA - Sylmar (Lopez Cyn), WhtFem 587UFCA, 18-25, Purple Bell-Bottoms, Apr'76

NamUs is the only website that lists her height --

It also lists her weight as being measured at 130 lbs.

https://identifyus.org/cases/4452

Oh, okay. I mostly looked at the Doe Network site(where height is not listed), and as I'm not from the US, I have to calculate it online for it to make sense to me if it's only listed in inches. So 5 foot 5, or 1,65 metres, right? Will edit the post now. Thanks for adding the info!

EDIT: Couldn't fix my original post, so I'll just add my thoughts here.

That means that Edna is a bit smaller than the UID, but as she disappeared at only fifteen years of age, she might have grown a few inches and put on weight.
Sherry Lynn Pickle is also one inch shorter and weighs less, but I've seen cases with bigger discrepansies listed as possible matches before. Except for the scar on her foot, she fits the facts on the Doenetwork case listing well to me.

I know that Phyllis Berry went missing from Texas in November 1975, but something about her reminded me of this UID. https://www.findthemissing.org/cases/2927/28/

Made me think of Rodney Alcala. I wonder if this could be one of his victims? There was a pic of a girl in Purple Bell bottoms on his site but I think she was found alive? Does anyone know?

Yes - the purple bells girl from the Alcala photos was ID'd and is still alive. Prior to her coming forward, there was a lot of discussion that she might be this UID. Her clothing matched almost perfectly to the description of the UID's clothing.

Phyllis Berry had gapped teeth. There is no mention of gapped teeth on the UID. Also, there is no mention that Phyllis had a crown on her upper front tooth.

NamUs says
Status: Dental information / charting is available and entered
but didn't actually have anything viewable. Maybe I had just been staring at the computer for long.

It's mentioned in her Charley Project page.

She has a slight space between her upper front teeth.

There's a dental chart on this Jane Doe's DoeNetwork page (click the word "Available" where it says "Dentals: Available).

http://doenetwork.org/cases/587ufca.html

The chart indicates several spaces between various lower teeth, but no mention of a gap between 8 & 9.

The chart indicates spaces between her lower-left 20, 21, and 22 teeth, but no mention of a gap between 8 & 9.

Thanks! I hadn't checked her page on the Charley Project. :blushing: This is a reminder to me to check multiple sources.

Looking at the enlarged photo of Phyllis Berry, it looks like the gap is between 7 & 8 (like Arroyo Grande JD), not between 8 & 9. But she clearly is not AGJD.

Could LASD Jane Doe Number 25 be Sallie Margaret Reed? The Sketch of JD #25 has the same facial shape as Sallie Reed, and both have same hair and eye color. Sallie went missing a 02/76, and JD #25 was discovered 4/76.

Good find. Jane Doe has the same facial features as Sallie Reed.

:bump:

I was thinking about this UID and had wondered if she could have been hiding from someone and she had dyed her hair from blonde to brown (her hair reportedly had traces of blonde at the scalp). Maybe they caught up with her in the end and it didn't go well.

I did a NAMUS comparison with this UID and Missing Persons.

One person that came up that has not been discussed is Sarah Tokier.

http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/t/tokier_sarah.html

https://www.findthemissing.org/en/cases/5091/13

Very little information is on Sarah. Missing persons report she was last seen sometime in 1977, but her NAMUS MP file says she was last seen January 1, 1976.

Height, weight and age are within range. She disappeared from San Bernadino which is about 60 miles away.

NamUs says she was last seen in Montebello, CA which is in Los Angeles County and a lot closer to where the unidentified woman was found. I'm not sure if this is a typo, though, because the San Bernardino Sheriff's department is investigating her disappearance.
