New here. Not sure if this is connected in any way, but found this interesting. The same Deputy Sheriff that interviewed BSL at Oschner's on May 19th was recently arrested and resigned after a drunk driving incident. Two things I am curious about: 1)If after he realized it was BSL, if this guy went off the deep end? and 2) How this will effect BSL's case if at all?

"According to court documents, during his first five years in prison, Lavergne voluntarily "completed numerous mental and social health programs to achieve rehabilitation, including but not limited to three separate anger managements, all four phases of the Louisiana Sex Offender Treatment Program, a domestic violence prevention group, a victims awareness group, two parents for fathers group, a Character Counts group, a stress management group, as well as volunteer tutor workshop and two HIV/STD education classes."

gngr~snap, thanks for the newspaper article! you do a great job! do you know if he has an STD? he could have been born with one, that would be unfortunate for a child.
:yuck: no!

IMO a good class to take to figure out ways to NOT pass your DNA on though!

:what: poor guy! This happened July 9th?
Sounds like he may very well have been suffering! KNOWING he BSL
right there and didn't do a little more digging...
I doubt he could have saved MS.

I bet the witness was too scared to say anything at that point. Now she can say plenty without fear of him.

On the organ donation thing -- organs contain DNA. i would never want the DNA of a known serial killer in my body or anyone I was related to for that matter. Best thing that could happen to those organs is for them to be incinerated. I believe in time we will earn many many things about DNA that we do not currently understand -- in fact -- in time I believe medical practices of 2012 will be considered barbaric and entirely revamped. So -- don't take blood products or ANY body organs from someone you do not know. It's just an awful idea in my humble opinion.

I respect your opinion, but disagree. My family benefitted from the unselfish decision of a total stranger who made the gift of his heart to my father. Organ donation is not an open process, meaning that the decedent's family, nor the recipient's know whose organ they were given, or where the organs go. Only general information is shared. We had ideas, but we never knew for sure who had saved my dad's life. That man (angel on earth) changed my family in ways you can never imagine --simply put, WE WERE BLESSED, blessed beyond anything we ever deserved. This nameless hero and his family have been in my prayer for decades and will remain there forever. Being an organ and blood donor is one of the most beautiful things we as humans can do for each other. :twocents:

There are many alternatives to blood transfusions and many people (Jehovah's Witnesses for example) who will not accept any blood products. I personally would not take an organ or blood products from an unknown person-- bank your own blood or take blood from a relative. or use a cell expander or don't take the red blood cells -- there are alternatives. You do not know my life experiences. I have, in fact, had a loved one died from an organ transplant done in Metairie one of my reasons for my statement.

BBM Above:

Sometimes you don't have choice. I had over 100 pints of blood in 1995. I had reserved blood before I had surgery, and my family did not have nearly enough to donate, that I needed.
This was a result of a surgery gone bad. It was just 3 days after surgery, and still in the hospital, that I developed Gangrene. Then an added 14 surgerys in 14 days.

Interesting...per KATC's broadcast, on Feb 9, 2000 BSL was arrested by OPD on simple battery charge. He never went to court for it, so the warrant is still active. Apparently, he had gone to Evangeline Parish to stand trial for the oral sexual battery charge, and went to jail because of that; when he was released in 2008, he never was tried for the simple battery charge.

:wagon: I saw that in the paper this morning... IMO I don't think it will affect BSL's case at all.

We never saw the NOPD report, did we?

Was just going to post the same, Steph85.

I posted this on the other thread right before it closed...I was leaning towards BSL taking Mickey out of town (TX) and hiding her body there. But now when I think about it, does anyone think he would drive all the way to TX with a body in the truck (even if he hid her in the truck). It seems too risky but then again he is all about taking risks.

I just opened it?:dunno:

"Those sources would not say whether evidence collected from Lavergne’s home helped to build the cases against him in the Shunick and Pate murders. However, they did confirm that law enforcement officials outside of the 15th Judicial District, which covers Lafayette, Acadia and Vermilion parishes, are also looking at any possible connections between Lavergne and other crimes against women. Those investigations stretch into Texas as well"

http://www.katc.com/news/da-provides-more-insight-on-pate-shunick-cases/

DA provides more insight into Shunick and Pate cases.

The DA says he has not been contacted by any other parish or jurisdiction about the possibility of Lavergne being connected to any other missing person or unsolved murder.

I found this strange. I would hope that Spring, TX LE as well as police from the central LA murdered girl would want to consider a connection.

He was also all about not getting caught though...he went to extremes in burning his truck. I think Mickey was left behind long before he went to TX; even before he went to tend to his wounds.

It worked for me on the third try. Thanks. :)

Mickey put up one heck of a fight, one I bet he didn't expect. She was so close to his jugular, oh how I wish.

Other areas not requesting info relating to unsolved murders???? the citizens ought to raise such a ruckus!!!

I still can't believe he wasn't near or in New Orleans some!

I guess it is possible that LE has unofficial suspects in many of the unsolved cases...some domestic, some otherwise. Also, LE may not be telling the truth here.

Several ID's, Where did the bloodied pictures of him come from?

Sources close to the Shunick investigation tell The Independent that among the evidence collected from Lavergne’s home in Swords were several women’s IDs and bloodied pictures of Lavergne showing the injuries he sustained May 19, the day Shunick disappeared. Lavergne told a Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s deputy that he was attacked in his truck in the New Orleans area when he stopped at a gas station to ask for directions. He was unable to give the detective any information about where the supposed attack took place. The detective noted that Lavergne had multiple stab wounds on his chest, back, hand and neck.
