A 6-month-old baby girl died Thursday after her mother threw her out the window of her Bronx apartment building during a “psychotic episode,” police sources and horrified neighbors said.

[...]

Fearon’s three older children — a 10-year-old boy and two girls, ages 4 and 8 — were all in the apartment at the time of her apparent breakdown, police said. None of the other children were harmed.

This is the 3rd infant to die in the same manner, in as many months, in NY:

Poor babies. :( Why does this keep happening?

I don't even know what to say! What a nightmare!

A judge on Friday ordered a psychiatric evaluation for a Bronx mother charged with throwing her 6-month-old daughter to her death from a sixth-floor window.

As CBS2’s Ilana Gold reported, Tenisha Fearon, 27, was arraigned Friday morning on a murder charge and held without bail. It was also revealed Friday that Fearon once ran a licensed day care.

[GL], who lives next door to Fearon, said he heard a commotion in the hallway and a man yelling, “Please, God. Please help us!”

Lopez said he didn’t want to leave his apartment because he didn’t know what was happening but went to the roof after the man left. When he arrived there, he looked into his neighbor’s window.

“I saw her naked and the three kids naked and I thought they were all dead,” Lopez said. “And then she jumps up and starts hitting the window.”

The woman charged with murder for allegedly tossing her 6-month-old daughter from the sixth-floor window of a Bronx apartment building was licensed to run a day care from her home and city agencies referred children to her care, health officials confirm to NBC 4 New York.

Tenisha Fearon, 27, asked to stop operating the day care in late April and her license expired, a source familiar with the situation said. Health officials do not believe there were any children in her care in the months since her accreditation elapsed.

The superintendent of the building, George Maldanado, said Fearon had an argument with someone next door and the baby was out the window within minutes. He said he had tried to calm Fearon down but "she wouldn't listen to me."

A neighbor stated it was Fearon's brother she argued with, preceding the incident.

She threw a baby out the window!” one witness screamed.

Then, in a bizarre, ritualistic scene, Fearon lay on the floor surrounded by her other three children. The three kids — two girls and a boy — were also naked and lying on their backs, according to next-door neighbor Gregorio Lopez...
Fearon was showing signs of instability in recent days, Hatch said.

“She feels like the devil is in her,” Hatch said, although it wasn’t clear if the mom meant herself or the child. “Yesterday I went (to her home) and that’s what she told me. She’s saying the same thing today.

Bronx woman gets up to 10 years for throwing baby out of window

A Bronx woman was sentenced to 3 1/3 to 10 years in state prison for throwing her 6-month-old baby out a window in October 2015.

Tenisha Fearon was arrested and charged with second-degree murder after police say she threw Junilah Lawrence out of her sixth-floor apartment to her death.

MORE: Tenisha Fearon pleads not guilty to killing baby

Fearon's attorney told News 12 last month that Fearon entered a guilty plea for reckless manslaughter before Tuesday’s sentencing.

Jan 2019:

Judge Denis Boyle sentenced Fearon to three-and-a third to 10 years in state prison, a term both prosecutors and her defense lawyer said was fair. She pleaded guilty to manslaughter last month.

Because she’s been in jail since Jahnyla’s death, Fearon could be eligible for parole in February...

“It became very clear that there is nothing that Ms. Fearon has ever done that would lead her up to this," Assistant District Attorney Nancy Borko told the judge, noting that psychiatrists observed “psychotic symptoms.”...

The prosecutor said she asked one of Fearon’s children about Jahnyla’s killing, and the child responded, “It wasn't my mother,” then elaborated: "It was her, but it wasn't like her. She wasn't being like she was my mother.
