Signal data located his mobile phone in Healesville on the morning of April 27.

The search effort for Mr Chitnis has since concentrated on Toolangi in the Yarra Valley. Yesterday, a search party walked the streets of Healesville and Yarra Glen, appealing for any information.

His family have also conducted further searches in the Yarra Valley region, and near Geelong and Ocean Grove, where he attended university.

His car is still missing as well.

My son and daughter-in-law live in the Geelong/Ocean Grove area so I've let him know about Tej's disappearance and sent him the media links.

I hope that that was unnecessary and he arrived home to hug his mother on Mothers Day yesterday.

Thanks FT. I also have extended family around Ballarat and Bendigo. I will pass this info on.

This sounds like he's missing on his own terms.
If he hasn't been attending classes that could mean that he had to figure out how to continue this charade. It might appear that the time was coming that he was gonna be found out.

Strange he hasn't touched his bank account AFAIK though. Maybe he's been squirreliin away some cash. I presume he and his parents would lose face if he came clean. Hopefully, he's just a very naughty boy and will come to his senses and return home. Otherwise, he may have met with foul play via other's (or his own) hands.

IT HAS now been two months since Burwood East man Tej Chitnis was last seen, and family are still worried sick not knowing where their beloved son is.

His mother, Reva, said their family and friends would not give up hope of finding Tej.

“Two months is a really long time to not know anything,” Ms Chitnis said. “We’re still looking and we’re still worried sick.

“We’ve had no new information since the first couple of days.

Given his 'secret' life I am concerned that he took his life rather than reveal the truth to all. It must be so hard for his family. I remember seeing them o the news at the time, Mum especially was beside herself.

Despite being gone for more than two months and not touching his bank accounts or using his mobile phone, his family and police are confident he is alive.

Mrs Chitnis says her son's disappearance could be explained by news he hadn't attended university "for some time". While initially shocked by the news, the family was relieved - it gave a reason why he might have taken time away.

(...)

He said while the last confirmed sighting of Tej was in Healesville on the day he went missing, there had been other possible sightings police have been unable to confirm.

"We've had one at Berwick Railway Station and more recently in Melbourne at a McDonalds store. They are all around the state. Some have more credibility than others," he told AAP.

Act Det Sen Sgt Savage said there were no signs that Tej's disappearance was planned, nor that he had got into trouble - and he urged the young man to contact his family if he was able to.
