After three months of examination by a forensic anthropologist in Indianapolis the remains of Fairfield’s Katelyn Markham are back in Ohio, according to Indiana State Police.

Fairfield detectives are continuing to work the case daily, said Detective Doug Day. He added that the investigators are working with the information they have.

“This may turn into a murder investigation,” Day said.”But right now we are waiting like everyone else.”

David Markham, Katelyn’s father, said he has been contacted by Lee and the Indiana State Police and was scheduled to meet with them Tuesday afternoon.

He was aware his daughter’s remains had been returned to Hamilton County and believes if more testing is needed, “then it should be done.”

The remains of a 21-year-old southwest Ohio woman found in Indiana 20 months after she disappeared are still being tested in an effort to determine how and where she died, police said Wednesday.
Indiana State Police said Katelyn Markham’s remains were returned recently to Ohio after nearly three months of examination by a forensic anthropologist. Sgt. Neal Houze said the Hamilton County coroner in Cincinnati will conduct more testing on the remains.

That is true. My point was that for him to mention that it suggests he or they had some kind of interaction/altercation there. I dont see him trying to establish an alibi based on that during the 911 call. I think something happened there that scared him to think someone knew where she lived or something (assuming he didnt do it, which i am trying to do). I think many people look at this case with blinders (especially on the fb pages) and assume he did it when anything could have happened really. There are enough random crimes, murder, rapes and abductions in that area that no possibility should be discounted. If he hasnt been arrested in the past year there must be a reason.

I know this post is kind of old, but I just wanted to add...

I live in the neighborhood Katelyn did. Katelyn's townhouse is visible from River Road, the street that runs past it. It's also right across the street from a busy gas station. Many of the people at the festival would have driven past her home, including people who weren't regularly in that area. If she stepped outside for a moment for any reason--to smoke, take out trash--and the wrong person was passing by...

That said, I do think there are too many inconsistencies in JC's story and behavior. Hopefully the police will find something to lead to an arrest, whoever did this. Though honestly, I have very little faith in the FF police department.
