York Regional Police offer reward in search for missing Richmond Hill mother Cheryl Rowe
July 11, 2012

snipped...York Regional Police are offering a $10,000 reward for information that could help them figure out what happened to Cheryl Rowe, a Richmond Hill mother who vanished just before Christmas.

Rowe was last seen wearing dark-coloured jeans, a light-blue two-toned jacket, purple Adidas running shoes and a white baseball hat with a green leaf design.

Police ask anyone with information to contact the Homicide Unit at 1-866-876-5423 (ext. 7865), or by email at homicide@yrp.ca. The reward will be in effect until Sept. 18.

snipped...Cheryl Rowe was last seen by her family on Rathfon Road, near Yonge Street and Carville Road, just after midnight on Dec. 22, 2011.

"She just said she was going to a friend's house and that was it," said her brother, Joe Rowe. "We haven't heard anything. She just went out the door and that was the last (time we've seen her)."

So many questions:

The friend she was visiting - male or female?

Did she have a boyfriend, husband, ex?

There just isn't much info about her life - I'll see if I can find some info to fill in the blanks.:)

snipped...“It’s very unusual for her to be away from family and friends and acquaintances for so long without contacting them, and as time has progressed, the homicide unit has now become involved,” Const. Blair McQuillan said Wednesday. “They do believe that Cheryl has met with foul play. They don’t have suspects at this point; the investigation is ongoing.”

I noticed the same. I sent a request asking the mods to change the year to 2011.

Shouldn't the date in the title be changed?? It says Dec. 2012... that can't be correct.

sorry about the wrong year...

:blushing:

Ironically the case report says she went missing December 21st, which well weird i then put 2012.

S T R A N G E...(mayan calender)

Regardless, where is Debbie????

snipped from link above to the case report...As a result of an investigation, it has been established Ms. Cheryl Rowe went missing on December 21, 2011, after last being seen by two associates at a residence in Richmond Hill. Investigators believe she has met with foul play.

...On December 25, 2011, York Regional Police received a missing person call from Kristina Clark, Cheryl Rowe’s daughter, who said she hadn’t heard from her 45 year old mother in four days. Ms. Clark had called local hospitals and Correction Centers with negative results before contacting the police.

Ms. Clark had been out shopping with her mother, Ms. Rowe, during the late afternoon on December 21, 2011 at Wal-mart. Ms. Clark last heard from Ms. Rowe that evening when she told her daughter she was going to a friend’s house in Richmond Hill. At 11:30 pm Ms. Clark called the house and spoke to Ms. Rowe who said she was bringing some items to her. Cheryl Rowe has not been seen or heard from since this time. According to Ms. Rowe’s family, she was close to them always in constant contact with them especially around Christmas time.

Investigators have taken exhaustive investigative steps which have included, but are not limited to, a national missing person search, a complete financial search of Ms. Rowe’s accounts, checks of all correctional institutions, statements taken from family, friends and associates of Ms. Rowe.

Wow she has been missing for a long time! Doesn't sound good with no news for that long. People check in. So sad :(. It is shocking just how many people are missing.

As per Cheryl's missing fb page: Cheryl left a residence on Browndale Cres just after midnight then was last seen on Rathfon Crescent in the same town and thats were Police and our family believe that Cheryl met with foul play

These 2 streets are 5kms apart :waitasec: or 3 miles: http://goo.gl/maps/3Bx9U

The place (I assume a residence?) she was last seen is close by Hillcrest Mall....this area is a thick with traffic! And Christmas time is pure madness.

Nearly 200,000 people living on 38.98 square miles.

"Kristina Clark sits on the couch in her apartment, a striped sweater that belongs to a missing woman bunched around her stomach.

Clark, 19, is four months pregnant and her own clothing is too small for her now.

In addition to buying maternity clothes she reluctantly dug through her mother’s abandoned closet, where she knew she’d find things a size larger than she is now.

She likes having some aspect of her mother close by, even if it is just clothing, because she has no idea if she’ll ever see her again.

Kristina’s 45-year-old mother, Cheryl Rowe, vanished a few days before last Christmas — a time of year “she wouldn’t miss for the world,” Clark says.

At this time last year, Rowe was a missing person. Now York Region police say they strongly suspect foul play in her disappearance"

Reward up to $50K in Cheryl Rowe case

Her children have been doing their best to keep their spirits high and their mother's name in the public eye.

But it's an increasingly difficult, now that Richmond Hill's Cheryl Rowe has been missing for more than a year.

[snip]

Last year, police changed the investigation's status from missing person to murder, after uncovering evidence she may have been harmed. Along with that news came a $10,000 reward.

This week, the York Region's police services board raised the reward to $50,000.

RICHMOND HILL, Ont – York Regional Police are offering a $50,000 reward for information that will help them find a missing Richmond Hill woman.

Cheryl Rowe was last seen by her family shortly after midnight on Dec. 22, 2011, on Rathfon Crescent in Richmond Hill. Police believe she was met with foul play.

Det. Bob Papineau said police are confident they are on the right track in regards to who they believe are involved or know what happened to Rowe and hope the reward will encourage them to come forward.

“People have been truthful with us up to a certain point, however, they are reluctant to give us those final clues,” he said Monday.

Rowe’s brother Joe said the family is seeking closure

Though she’s never met them — and likely never will — painter Ilene Sova has connected with the subjects who embody her latest exhibit.

The Toronto artist has spent the past three years creating The Missing Women Project, 30 large portraits of women who have vanished.

She knows their birthdays, the days they went missing and the details, as scant as they are, about each disappearance.

And she can’t help but ponder the fate of the women — all from Ontario — and if they, or their remains will ever be found.

The show runs at the Creative Blueprint Gallery, 376 Bathurst St., from March 2 to 16, including International Women’s Day on March 8.

On a utilitarian level, Sova hopes it might spark a memory, un-pry a clue to break at least one case"

" Police are so keen on finding out more information about Cheryl Rowe’s disappearance that the force raised her $10,000 reward to $50,000 only months ago.

She originally went missing from her Richmond Hill home three days before Christmas in 2011 after promising her daughter they would meet up at a nearby alleyway.

Her family continues to hold vigil for her on a Facbook page, which is constantly being updated with messages from her son, Mitchell.

“It’s been a big blow to our family and we need closure,” one reads. “This is my oath: I will never give up.”

In 2012, police changed Ms Rowe’s investigation status from missing person to murder, after uncovering evidence Ms Rowe may have been harmed."
