Found Deceased OR - Daniel Mellers, 21, Newberg, 22 April 2017

Daniel Mellers is from Colorado and attending college in Newberg, Ore. He hasn't been seen since a late-night run to the store on Saturday for soda.

The roommates of the 21-year-old told police when he didn't return as expected they went looking for him.

A cell phone ping placed his phone in the Sherwood area, but police there were also unable to locate Mellers.

Mellers' vehicle is reportedly in a repair shop, but police have yet to track it down. He drives a grey 2012 Toyota Corolla with Colorado plate number QFS 868.

While Sherwood, where a ping placed his phone, appears to be mostly residential, it also borders the The Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge, a 1,856-acre wetlands and lowlands sanctuary, to the immediate north.

There is a bus service between GFU and the Wildlife Refuge, but on Saturday, the last bus out of Newberg would have departed at 5:27 PM, so that wouldn't have been an option for Daniel. The distance between the two locations appears to be about 9 to 10 miles, so it is possible that he walked, IMO. Then again, he could have been picked up by someone also.

Daniel was last seen wearing a maroon hoodie and blue jeans. He is described as 5 11 and weighing about 185 pounds.

I hope that he is found soon, safe and sound.

It was reported that he told his roommates he would be walking to buy the soda on Saturday night.

Sad to read this morning-

Police found the body of a missing 21-year-old George Fox University student Monday night in the trunk of his car.

They said Daniel Mellers committed suicide.

On Monday night police said a Sherwood resident called them after spotting Mellers car in the area of Southwest Houston Drive near Spratlin Lane.

At about 7:30 p.m. officers with Sherwood and Newberg-Dundee police departments were able to unlock Mellers car and found him dead inside the trunk.

Based on the details learned during this investigation, we are confident Daniel took his own life and there is no threat to the public, Newberg-Dundee Capt. Jeff Kosmicki said in a statement.

RSBM. How strange, he got in his own trunk before taking his life? It sounds like they are very confident it was suicide but it just sounds very unusual to me :/

Especially when it was mentioned they didnt know where his vehicle was in the beginning and saying possibly a repair shop?
