FBI calling on public for help in finding boys abducted from Newton

The FBI is asking for the public’s help in tracking down a fugitive who kidnapped her two children from Newton two years ago and fled to Egypt.

The agency's Boston division is distributing a 60-second podcast to radio stations across the U.S. asking for any information on the whereabouts of Mirvat Elnady, who abducted her two sons during a court-authorized visit in 2009. Elnady lost custody of Noor Bower and Ramsay Bower, who were ages 8 and 6 at the time, after Massachusetts courts found her to be a drug addict and a safety risk to her sons, according to a press release from Congressman Barney Frank's office.

Frank has been trying to put increasing pressure on Egypt to return the boys to their father, Colin Bower of Wellesley.

There is a new push to find two North Shore children who were kidnapped by their mother and taken out of the country.

"It's an incredible finding that the airlines don't have the responsibility or the duty to check documents or to pay attention to obvious flags like took place in this case -- buying tickets in cash at the ticket counter and last-minute passports in different names," Bower said.
