CT New Haven - Black male 20-40, May 18 2012, tattoos incl. "Bello" - Mutalib Bello
This is a 20 to 40 year old Black/African American Male found in New Haven County, Connecticut. 140 pounds, 70 inches (est.) He was found floating in the West River.
He has several tattoos that would be easily identifiable. The Namus entry doesn't describe them in detail but from what I can make out in the photos on one arm he has the date 6.30.93 with some stars and scribbles, a skull, another face of an animal or something with a crown on its head, and a black and red something, maybe a star with blood or flames around? There is a reflection on the photo that makes it a little hard to see. On another arm he has more stars and letters, at least A and SM, possibly L, a planet with a ring, and on his shoulder there is a pyramid or triangle with a red eye in it and a fist holding on to a beaded necklace with a cross and on his belly it reads "Bello".
Post mortem photos of the tattoos at the link:

That looks like a snake with a crown on it's head, IMO. It seems like someone out there should be able to recognize his distinctive tattoos.

"bello" could stand for Handsome. And yeah, that snake has a crown on, almost as if its a "king cobra"

The Mickey Cobra gang out of Chicago use a crowned cobra, 5 point stars and the pyramid with the eye as important symbols of their gang. They also wear alot of black.
The tatts might not be gang affiliated, but i think they are. JMHO.

Wow, I live close by and have not heard 1 news report on this. And I watch the new, read paper daily. Another example of media bias. Just m.o.

If June 30 1993 happened to be his own birthday the age estimate would be very slightly off.

I see a San Diego Chargers logo. Could be a coincidence and the tattoo artist just used some stock photo/clip art as a template... But it's exactly the same as the Chargers logo (except the part that blurs and blends into the hands/rosary piece, obviously.) Perhaps this guy was originally from San Diego or S. California.

This guy has L and A in his upper arm and one of his aliases is Bello but he is a little shorter and stockier and they list fewer tattoos. He's been missing since 2010 so he could have got some new ones I guess. I've no idea how old he is.
I suppose they would know if it was him if they ran the fingerprints though.Assuming it would be the first thing they do. Namus says that fingerprints are available elsewhere, whatever that means.
Edit: I think this looks like him and if so he's been arrested since the UID was found.

Wonder why it took two months to identify him if it was based on the tattoos. The body had already been found when Mr. Bello was reported missing so it sounds like it would have been relatively simple to put two and two together if one of them is an UID with his name tattooed on him. And he's nineteen so the date tattoo could even have been his own birthday.

His family is wondering why it took so long too. It was his birthday tattooed on his wrist. The New Haven police apologized to them but I hope the ME's office is able to figure out his cause and manner of death for more closure for the family.

that is a damn shame. I mean it does not get ANY easier for law enforcement to have a person's name, date of birth and parent's intitialed on the body and they could still not figure it out.
personally whoever answered that phone and blew off the family should lose his job. just my opinion.
