Possible Match??

John Koziatek

http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/k/koziatek_john.html

It doesn't list John's height, weight, and hair color...If we had those, it would be easier to rule out.

I think John and the UID resemble eachother.

What do you all think?

It's certainly worth a try, right? No harm in submitting it if it's not him. The name is right, sounds like the victim had a lot of surgeries. Unfortunately, not much info out there on Koziatek. I wonder if his family is still alive to give details about his medical conditions.
I found a John Koziatek in Ohio that is the same age as he would be now-I wonder if he just divorced himself from his family? Or maybe he's reconnected with them and they didn't update?

has 19 exclusions but John Koziatek is not on the list. There is a mitochondrial DNA sample but the tests are not complete.

More info about the crime:
• Two men shot to death in Room 15 of the Siesta Motel at 701 34th St. N on April 26, 1980. One victim was identified as Jack Roy Davis, 40, of Knoxville, Tenn. The other never was identified. Police had a suspect in the case, a 39-year-old Tennessee man named Kyle Coy "Cowboy" Watson, according to St. Petersburg Times archives. But he was gunned down by his girlfriend four months after the murders.

This UID was one of several exhumed for additional study/identification, and it appears that since that time his NamUS ID Potential has increased to the max of 5 stars.

I have not found a "missing person" with these types of scars. I have done quite a bit of research... reading newspaper reports/studying those involved in the murder. I have quite a few links regarding this and would be happy to share if anyone would care to go further.

I don't feel confident but, just based on date and visual "appearance". Robert Carr MIGHT be a possibility (although no chest scars and the likelihood that he was a drowning victim)

Michael Olson, missing December 1979 from West Palm Beach, FL

Not much info about Michael but thought I'd throw it out there...

https://www.findthemissing.org/en/cases/show/17585

I like Olson too and I've tried to find some family info. I don't know if the date of the birth is incorrect, but I've had a tough time finding anything about him.

It now appears that the UID may be at the upper end of the age range so I was hesitant to suggest Olson... but I still like him as a possibility... I like him better than CARR.

This was a domestic dispute and the people involved knew each other, therefore I feel much of this info may be pertinent to discovering the identity of the UID.

-The victims were not on the motel register but they had been staying there a week and were due to check out on Sunday.
-The victims were shot about 11pm Saturday. One victim was shot in the left temple and behind the left eye.
-Jack Roy Davis was identified by his ex-wife who lived in Tampa
-The victims were acquainted with the motel manager & her husband (Cery & Kenny Nichols).
-Barse (motel owner) said Mrs. Nichols (motel mgr) told him the men originally lived in Tampa and had returned to this area after moving to California
-Police said the deaths were the result of a quarrel over personal relationships.
-Police named Kyle "Cowboy" Watson as the murderer & David Ann Thomas as accessory to murder.
-David Ann Thomas & Kyle "Cowboy" Watson had been living together in a motel under the name "Rutherford". (Thomas also goes by the names Bettery Hubbard, Joyce Marie Carter and David Ann Moore.)
-Kyle Coy "Cowboy" Watson 39 of Knoxville was gunned down in Maryville TN. *Shot 4 times at close range with a 38 caliber gun. * A woman was seen fleeing the scene in a 1974 yellow Olds. Watson & the woman had been arguing in the parking lot of Hill's Market near Maryville (20 miles south of Knoxville). David Ann Thomas 39 suspected of shooting Watson
- David Ann Thomas was later arrested in Selma, Alabama (I think one or more of her children lived there at the time).

This is kinda off the board but has anyone looked at Richard James Romano

http://www.doenetwork.org/cases/3585dmfl.html

The Height and weight is off but when I looked at the picture, it looked exactly like the uid. The fact how the Uid died sounds right, the location sounds right, the time of the disappearance is right. Can anyone do an overlay of the two pics.

The real drawback for me is there is no mention of the heart surgery scar/s.

Paul Jefferson is a 1979 Knoxville, Tennessee prison escapee. Height, weight, hair color all right. Eyebrows look different.

Here's a newspaper article about the woman involved.

Wow, she's a sweetheart, isn't she?

There are some interesting similarities but the height difference is 8". I know we've seen height be off by quite a bit but that's a lot.

But there is a strong resemblance, isn't there?

Thanks for sharing the side-by-side photos, carbuff !

The height is off, the birthmark/scars aren't there, the dates are off. But, there are a few things that still have me a little hopeful.

I'm not one to just "match faces" but there is a resemblance... (imo) the UID seems to be a more mature version of Rob Kuhlman.

And he's a Robert from California, which would also fit.

Birthmarks and scars often don't get mentioned. LE sits on them so they can use them for a quick ruleout.

David Ann Thomas died in 2014, I've always wondered if she knew who this guy was and if she did how come she didn't say.

I recently came across the reconstruction and though "I am sure iv'e seen that face somewhere" so I went to Charley Project and found why he was so familiar.
http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/p/perrin_john.html
To me, they look pretty much identical. The physical descriptions are spot on if you keep in mind that hazel eyes and brown eyes can be mistaken for each other, and he could have gotten a more reddish hair color given that ten years had passed between the disappearance and the death of UID. 10 years is a long enough time gap that UID could very well have gotten the surgeries done after he went off the radar.

The circumstances of the disappearance also make it very plausible in my opinion. In the Charley Project page for John Perrin it states that Perrin may have been a man rescued in San Francisco, and if that was true it seems even more likely that Perrin is UID. I think Perrin tried to escape the draft, ended up in the water somehow, and decided to use a fake name in order to disappear.

Perrins family thought he was alive and running from the draft, so UIDs secretive and sketchy circumstances make sense. This makes the timeline fit too because Perrin would have most likely been moving around and not settled down. Also, John Perrin went by the name Johnny, and he was born in Tennessee but disappeared from California, making him a John or Johnny from California or Tennessee, just like it says in UIDs profile.

I don't know, it just seems to me that everything fits too well to be a coincidence.

'Lots of things seem to "fit"! Nice work!!

I think the UID was exhumed... new testing done.
