a view from the inside: observations from our own court observers #6

That whole specticle was disgusting, I truly can't verbalize my distaste for the disrespect that entire group shows to the Alexanders and the death of Travis
It has been so difficult to watch the re victimization of Travis A; the character assignation; all of it. It's horrendous.

when is it going to come out that this so called therapist isn't even licensed? I can't wait until Monday for the rest of that cross exam. I am correct, correct? That she holds no current licensure in ANY state?

snow white, sheesh who in their right mind thought we'd be hearing caca like this?

i totally think ja had jw's phone in her lap yesterday and that's what she was so into.....take a look at the video.....she was not flipping pages! also check out D while ja has that phone.....could they be texting? she has her arm over her face and is looking down????

court watchers....could this be?

Beth is now replying...I;m hoping she reports on this.

Thanks for telling her becuase it's truly unfair. We have to watch reports on Jodi's hair but give no recognition to the fact that the Defense team is approaching the Victims in court. The nerve of that woman. The whole lot of them. The nerve of Nurmi thumbing his nose at the judge. The nerve of Gus trying to battle Juan. The nerve of Dr. Sam not even bringing in proper reports and getting pizzed at Juan. The nerve of ALV bashing Travis as hard as possible, the nerve of her getting her fanny out of her chair to talk to Sam.

I'm just so ticked off and have been so all day about it. :furious: That woman needs to be put up on the screen for her actions. Had you not noted it I wouldn't have known, and that makes me mad. Everyone interested in this case whether they are here or not should know.

I agree about JA texting. That's what I thought too.

I can't even imagine what that dolt would possibly have to say to her after the way she spoke about Travis. She should have ran straight to the restroom and stuck her head in the toilet. Shameful

I know if I was Sam I would want to spit in her eye!

Katie, rest and get some electrolyte replacements, with all the stress you are under you need take extra precautions. Arnicare gel is amazing for joint and muscle pain, any CVS etal will have it.

Amazing as it may sound I have found horse linament to work the best. Just massage it in a little and very soothing. Try to get the mint but I have aloe. I have tried all kinds muscle rubs and this really works best:rocker:

I am new here...and more (as another poster put it) a lurker...BUT I have to compliment everyone here with their maturity and compassion. This is a breathe of fresh air from the other sites which mostly "bully" others. KCL...you are nothing less than amazing..with your whole background and everything...WOW...you looked great and did a fantastic job with your interview last night...I am sure it is rough doing all that you do, so please know it is very much appreciated from this "luker" (lol lol) ....Thank you ALL !!

Agreed. Eiglarsh keeps regurgitating Trial Practice 101. Well, guess what? 30 years of prosecuting big crimes allows one to develop their own style. JM has been doing this day in, day out for 3 decades! He knows what he's doing. He goes in with a very definite strategy (Eiglarsh would have Juan reading from typed questions), and he pursues it. No matter how evasive or cantankerous the witness, he hammers the points until he gets what he wants. That's the mark of success and experience.

I'd like to point out, again, that JM likely has a team of folks back at the office doing support work for him. I am sure that someone found every mention of ALV on the internet, watched every youtube, read every book and seminar materials, etc. The team brings stuff to JM, and he no doubt carefully reviews all of the important stuff. When court ends, JMs day is just beginning. He's an awesome courtroom lawyer. When some TH said that defense lawyers are more skilled at cross than prosecutors, I wanted to scream. How many witnesses do you think JM has crossed in 30 years? Far more than Eiglarsh or any of the other TH defense lawyers, of that, I am certain.

Thank you for this. You made my day. I get where JM is going with his questioning and I am not a lawyer. So I think the talking heads do too. But yet they criticize his style saying they could do better. JM is a true advocate for victims of crime. From what I have witnessed JM is winning and I believe he would win even if there was no admission of guilt. What you said is perfect. He hammers until he hits the nail on the head. I do NOT feel sorry for anyone getting on the witness stand and trying to bs JM. All the witness has to do is to tell the truth. Thanks again. :seeya:

Hey KCL, Good Morning :) I'm glad you mentioned the size of the killer’s hands. My hubby and I thought her hands just look huge because she's on TV, you how sometimes people look bigger LOL I also wanted to tell you I had the tape of your interview up on my screen, my hubby walked behind me, I could see him walk past me and glance at my screen, he looked away and then quickly turned and came back, he leaned over my shoulder and said "who's that, she's really pretty" Thanks Katie, for all you are doing :)

Her hands have always creeped me out!!!

Speaking of Beth, I just followed up with an email about the ALV boundary violation yesterday. Also Steve Kucj who did the ABC story. I want this ironic behavior exposed. This kind of abuse to victims goes unchecked ALL the time. Maybe since Sam is a police officer they think she's "tougher". She still is entitled to FULL RIGHTS of a Victim.

Victim? I thought Travis was the perpetrator? :banghead:

Nurmi was probably hoping Sam would slug her. He'd be arguing for a mistrial: Just like TA attacked JA, SA is attacking ALV. Goes back to their upbringing and all.

<modsnip>

PSA Having some real pain issues w/ my hands and arms and I have to use them today for my job this afternoon so I'm gonna stop typing for the rest of the day. Please save any questions here or pm's until I can rest up a bit..then I'll get back to posting..thanks! PASA is here to answer all your questions about court yesterday..she was there all afternoon! :)

Hope you are all better soon. This getting older is not for wimps is it? We are the same age. But you sure are beautiful. I didn't age every well. :)

KCL - I didn't catch every minute today, but I noticed at least twice where the judge smacked down JW in front of the jury. These are the first two times I can recall that happening in what I've seen of the entire trial.

  • One was when JW lied and said ALV wasn't reading stuff, and the judge said something to the effect of "I saw her looking at the paper while she was talking."
  • The other was when JW made an objection as a mischaracterization, when it was her speaking objection that was the mischaracterization. The judge told her, "I think you misunderstood the question." JW wanted a sidebar and the judge blew it off, asking JM to repeat the question. Oh snap!!
You've said lots of times the perceptions are different in the courtroom than what we see on TV. Did you sense that these (and maybe there were others, since I only saw a couple minutes of JM's cross) were signaling the judge's impatience with JW incompetence and time-wasting? Those seemed like significant moments to me.

Thanks!

Would still love to hear perspective of KCL or PASA on the above. Also, would you have been able to contain yourself if, after ALV said she wished everyone would go watch her videos in their entirety, JM had said, "Maybe you'd like the courthouse to set up a table in the hall so you can sell the book you're hawking?"

The people around me were laughing at ALV not at Juan. Now D and some of her ex-con friends may have been laughing at Juan, but that's par for the course.

Hi Pasa,
What got my attention was that the mitigation specialist laughed out loud. She really has no class. I wish she would be replaced.

Ok I just taped this off my tv with my iphone and let's see if it works here. ;)

IMHO, Juan needs to hold up an autopsy photo of Travis and ask "well did Snow White do THIS to an elf when she got mad at him?" that ought to shut her up. I think there's no way she's actually even seen the autopsy photos or she wouldn't be up there running her mouth with ridiculous analogies making herself a complete jackass. So, is this it for the defense's trotting out flakey "experts"? ..please no more! Where did they find people like Samuels and LaViolette?? DT Must have been busy turning over a lot of rocks.
)

Exactly. First you look for respected experts with recent wins in similar cases. Then you look for respected experts with any wins in similar cases...if they decline you go for any experts, then any cases. When everyone has declined to accept the contract, you are left with former experts or authors of books, people who lost their licenses but still have credentials....you get the idea.

Look at what Samuels and LaViolette have in common:

*charge high fee
*old school ideas
*old testing tools
*old or no technology
*ignorant regarding facts of case
*cannot answer from memory
*inconsistent testimony
*inaccurate testimony
*under spell of Jodi Arias
*willing to defend a Lizzie Bordon for $$$

Oh wait forgot to mention the cherry on the top of yesterday was with PASA and I walking to the car (she walked me to MY car I should say) and we went past the media trucks on the way. At an intersection some lady was waving wildly at us from her car and it's a bit of a sketchy neighborhood so we were both like "uh oh what's that?".

It was Beth Karas! lol Waving and saying hello and we had a little exchange before her light turned green.

Totally cool. :) We are having so many fortunate experiences being involved with this trial we said to each other.

Aw....we love Beth!!!
