I've made several searches and could not find a thread on WS for this story. It's unbelievable. A 16-year old girl was drugged and gang raped at a house party in Vancouver. Unfortunately, that's not the unbelievable part. One of her alleged assailants posted photos of the rape on Facebook.

Here are a couple of news stories that I found. Don't know why we're not hearing more about this story in the U.S.

If anyone has any more news links or info, please share.

That poor girl. Bad enough what happened to her, but then to have people all over the internet downloading photos of it is horrifying. What kind of animals are these? I hope they nail each and every one of them, as well as every person that downloads the pictures.

This is so sad, My heart goes out to her. I hope all that were involved get every possble charge attached to them. Hopefully they treat them ALL like adults and are tried like adults. so far there has been 2 arrest,

First Arrest
Police said the pictures were taken at a Pitt Meadows rave party, east of Vancouver, by a 16-year-old boy who posted them on Facebook. The youth was arrested and released, but police say he could still face charges for distributing child *advertiser censored*.

Second Arrest
Mounties have arrested a second person in connection with the shocking alleged gang rape of a teenage girl in Pitt Meadows last weekend.

The suspect, an 18-year-old male, was taken into custody on Thursday night. Police say they will be recommending a charge of sexual assault.

According to the globe and mail newspaper this is where the rave party took place behind the house.

Video News Confrence. How could so many people just watch and not do anything to help her let alone participate in the rape. I am speechless

Police have yet to lay charges against an 18-year-old man arrested Thursday in connection with the gang-rape of a 16-year-old girl at a Pitt Meadows rave.

It was the second arrest made by police last week.

Police are recommending he be charged with sexual assault.

"Our investigators are being extremely thorough in this investigation.” said RCMP Insp. Derren Lench on Friday. “We have interviewed a number of people who were at the party, but there are still many police need to speak with, and we still want these people to come forward. We have made this second arrest, but there is still much follow-up we must do before that charge will proceed.”

Aw sheesh. Poor baby, I just want to hug her. What a horrible thing to have to try to recover from. The gang rape alone is such a scarring event but to add the FB posting like some sick twisted cherry on top . . .

It just makes me want to cry for this poor child.

ohmygod.

from an article linked above:

....but police say he could still face charges for distributing child *advertiser censored*....

oh how I would hate to be a cop. da. whatever. how terrible to know these horrible things can be done and almost no charges are allowed? I think laws need to be passed everywhere that when you're that much of a soul-less [censored] [censored] that in and of itself should be a charge!

sick! what is wrong with people? 16 year olds. my older son is 16. all I have to say is if that were him, oh yeah, release him back to momma. but I suspect in this case if momma was doing her job this wouldnt have happened :(

I am shocked..I know we read about crime everyday but seriously my jaw hit the floor and my heart is heavy. I am disgusted beyond belief and quite honestly scared for our youth. I will keep this young woman in my prayers and hope that she can survive this tragedy with time, love and tenderness..

I was raped. I was younger than this girl is, but, it wasn't plastered anywhere, let alone on a social networking site.

I can't imagine how difficult this would be to deal with. As for charges, how about rape! With special circumstances of it being gang related, then posted in public.

Is this the future of our society?

There is a police chief in the Tampa area (Grady Judd I think?) that does stings dedicate to child *advertiser censored* and in finding the victims in the photos, but in one of the interviews I heard with him after a huge round up of suspects he said something to the effect of "my officers received video and photos of a local female victim (4 years old) and none of the officers had seen the videos previously leading them to believe this was freshly produced and the victim could possibly located"....... it was then it dawned on me how many videos and images of children being raped these officers have seen that they know when new material is in circulation. It broke my heart to think about how much that has to change you at your core to be exposed to that day in and day out.

WellDone, maybe with what's on the tape there were individuals that couldn't be charged with rape because there's not enough evidence (?). Doesn't mean they didn't participate in some way. Either way, I hope they catch everyone involved but most of all I hope that this young lady is going to be able to deal with this in a healthy manner (too many abuse victims turn to drugs and alcohol understandably).

From the article above:

Colton Ashton McMorris, 18, was charged this week with sexual assault in connection with the incident. Dennis John Allen Warrington, 19, faces one charge of production of child *advertiser censored* and one count of distribution of child *advertiser censored*.

A third person, a 16-year-old boy, had already been charged a few days after the incident with production and distribution of child *advertiser censored*.

Grrrrr, teens can be so heartless!! The girl had significant injuries and needed to go to the hospital afterward...does a willing partner normally have to do that?!? I can't believe she was bullied and teased after such an ordeal, to the extent that she had to quit her school. Disgusting!

A victim of a gang rape at a rave in rural British Columbia will be speaking to the media today at 1:30 pm Pacific time. The attack occurred in September 2010 and involved several males. She was 16 years old at the time of the attack. The only male charged with sexual assault had the charges dropped by the Crown prosecution due to lack of strong evidence against the accused. The attack on the teen was photographed and these photos were posted on facebook over and over again by several people who were present and likely by many others who wanted to re-victimize this girl. The boy who posted these photos and reposted them, plead guilty to a lesser charge (originally distribution of child *advertiser censored*) of distributing obscene material.

I'm so angry and upset over this. I applaud the courage of this young woman to come forward and speak directly to the media. Her life was brutalized by so many people. Stuff like this can't happen anymore.

dropped sexual assault charges: http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/story/2012/02/21/bc-rave-rape-charges-stayed.html

At a media conference Wednesday afternoon the teen, who cannot be named, said there is evidence out there, but a code of silence is preventing witnesses from speaking.

"Please come forward," she asked. "It would mean the world."

The teen says there's "no doubt" in her mind that she was sexually assaulted and she says she now understands why women are afraid of reporting to police when they've been raped.

From above Link:
"Make no mistake — this girl was raped," RCMP Sgt. Peter Thiessen said Wednesday. "I can assure you, knowing the content of these photos, it was not exaggerated what happened to this girl. Absolutely not."
.................
Police said during their initial investigation that she had been drugged and that as many as half a dozen men may have been involved in the assault.

Okay, so the people who posted the pictures on Facebook are or will be charged and convicted and the ONE identified rapist is going to walk free? What about the other five who were reportedly involved in the attack ?

I totally give the girl credit for stepping up and speaking out on this. What a strong willed young woman. I hope, for her sake, that a witness steps up and says "Hey wait, this was wrong" :banghead:
