I am suprised this has never been posted.

Bobby was my neighbor growing up. He lived with his brother Billy 2 doors down from my fathers house in Dunedin Florida for many years up until he disapeared.

I was really suprised to find him on Doenetwork some years ago when I was a member of Doenetwork.

I asked my father about this, we where very close with Billy and Bobby. He said that he thought he had told me this before, maybe I had passed it off as Bobby had just left town for a while.

Bobby Beich was a renowned cigar boat racer. He had been married for sometime to a foreign actress and drove a ferrari or lambragini. Cant remember which.

My father said that he was diabetic and had become distraught over financial matters. He left Florida shortly before he disapeared to do construction work in Texas. Right before he disapeared he started selling his tools off and sent a letter to his brother saying that he was going to kill himself by jumping from a canyon in New Mexico and they would never find him.

As far as I know Billy still owns the house in Dunedin. My father said however that Billy never got over Bobby disapearing and has not lived in the house since Bobby disapeared.

He was a real sweetheart and both brothers where very nice to us, almost like family. I sure hope that he is out there somewhere alive.

I would just like to know that he is okay.

I just want to add 3 facts that makes me question the suicide theory.

1) He sent the letter to his brother in Largo instead of to Billy who he was evidently closer to and lived with.

2) after he disapeared, my father said that the brothers hired a helecopter and searched the area for days that he suposively jumped to know avail. There was no body found.

3) There was a incident when I was 16 (in 1982-83) where the tires of Bobbys car where flattened at a local pub in Dunedin. He was talking to my dad in our front yard and I heard the whole conversation. My father may have even picked him up from the Pinehurst Pub and brought him home. Anyways, he was acting very paranoid and told my father that he didnt think it was a random act. He felt someone was trying to get him and he had ticked someone serious off.

Just thought I would add this.

I truely hope that he was just paranoid from his illness and life and dropped out of society and is alive out there. But things don't add up and I have questioned over time whether Bobby really did write that letter.

I wonder if anyone ever questioned the ex?

I doubt it. According to my father, LE and the family have gone by the assumption that he commited suicide. I just have a hard time buying that.

My father is down for the week and we where talking about it again today. He had gone by Bobbys house and talked to some guy that has been staying there for years. No one knows where Billy is and it is just all strange that he stoped living at the house after Bobby disappeared.

Also, my father said that Bobby was very paranoid over the last couple years before he disappeared.

I am wondering, with his link to cigar boat racing, and his former marriage to some foreign actress, if he was tied into the mob in some way.

Also, there have been cases where letters where sent saying that the person was going to commit suicide and it was not written or sent by the victim.

My father said that if they said he jumped in to the colorado river, then he did. I replied that I went down the colorado white water rafting on my honey moon a couple years ago and didnt see any bodies or bones.:waitasec: He said I am a smart you know what. But I always have been and everything is not black or white like my father thinks.

Here is a webshot I found of Bobby from 1976 according to the picture

he is the one on the left when looking at the pic (dark hair white jacket).

Do you have a description? Height, weight, eye color, hair color, what was he wearing the last time anyone saw him? Did he have tatoos, did he wear glasses or sunglasses all the time, smoker, or non-smoker? Did he have a drinking problem or did he just drink occasionally? Did he have scars, or anything at all identifiable about him? Did he speak with an accent or not? Just want to know a little more about him... Also, how old was he when he went missing? Thank you.

Can't be 100% positive about it but to me someone who says they are going to kill themselves and that their "body will never be found" may be an indication that they want to vanish, but not necessarily die. If he wrote that letter he could still be alive somewhere under an assumed name. Since he was passionate about cigarette boats he may have chosen to live in a country other than the US where they are popular as well, such as France or Italy.

See that is what I think. I just saw a cold case show where this guy was taunting LE and he sent a letter, with pictures of the canadian border, saying that he wasnt in the US anymore so na'na. Well they found the guy in Texas.

I think Bobby could have written that letter to disapear. His brother spent over 50k from what I understand on a massive search with helicopters searching for weeks through the grand canyon as well as a large area of NM where he sent the letter from. Also hired PI's. His other brother is LE in Clearwater. No sight of him or a body like u said.

What's really weird is I googled his name, using Bobby and Bob today and found a boat racing blog where some guy was talking about being in a race with Bobby and someone else was talking about him on there too and then one of them asked if they had seen Bobby lately  no mention that he has been missing for 19 years! Now that is bizzare and indicates to me that one of these 2 have talked to him in the past 19 years and probably the last couple years.

I have always thought this case could have been mob related- when I saw Mr. Biech's picture I immediately thought of it.

That's a good find but there's too much of an age difference. Bobby would have been 47 in 1991.

A mob connection is a possibility. You have to think about Miami/West Palm area in the 70's and 80's and the stories of the mob trying to infiltrate the area ie; Gatti and Trafficanti. I'm sure that there where many bets put on cigarette boat racing at the time. Also, it was reported by my dad that Bobby was married to a foreign actress and she took alot of his money (he was an heir to a candy manufacturing family) and he did drive the fancy sports car that he had to sell a year or 2 before he disapeared so he could have been in debt to bookmakers or the mob or something. Thus disapearing.

I posted another post about an incident when I was about 16 where someone slashed his tires and he was acting all paranoid in my front yard. I got a bad feeling that night that it was not someone from the bar that he got in a fight with or flirted with their gf. He was too paranoid.

I will defintely keep him in mind. I do a lot of research with missing/unidentified persons and as I go along if I notice anything interesting I'll pass it along.

Sounds like this fellow made a lame attempt at having people think he was in Canada. But even if he had been he wouldn't have been as safe as he seems to think he would be. Canada is not the country of choice for someone attempting to vanish from the US It's too close and too "connected" with the US for someone to remain anonymous there. Countless times I have read about fugitives being caught in Canada and swiftly extradited back across the border, sometimes within days. The opposite is also true.

Wow. Well since he didn't commit a crime there would be no legal need for him to change his name, or maybe he just hopes that people have stopped looking for him and is less cautious. Could also be he heard that whoever was after him (slashed tires incident) was either dead or in some manner wasn't a threat anymore. Who knows?

The skeletal remains found in 1999 in Crystal River, Fl wearing an Albuquerque Hot Air Balloon Festival T-shirt.

Bobby was supposed to have sent a letter postmarked from Albuquerque and they searched the NM area and canyon he supposively jumped into to no avail. What if he was on his way back to Pinellas County???

I submitted the doenetwork link and our link to crimestoppers. It would be sad but comforting to have closure on Bobby Beich.

I remember one time (I was about 14) going across the street to Walt and Ethel's house. They where an old couple and like family to Bobby and Billy and us for that fact. Well they where grilling out and we went over there. Bobby and Billy where play fighting over who was my date lol. So I told them that they could both escort me to dinner. They where some special guys, it's really sad. I grew up and married and moved out of the neighborhood and I had no clue he was missing until several years ago, I was totally shocked.

I submitted a possible match to LE through their website it was actually through crimestoppers and I am supposed to be notified of any response. As of today I have not heard anything. You would think that if it was him they could have compaired dentals or something by now. I asked for an update 4-14 and got a response from crimestoppers that they had forwarded the info to LE and no updates.

Welcome Bill1234,
The zipcode is not Dunedin, I know because I grew up at 1744 San Mateo. My dad hasnt lived there in years though. Google shows that zipcode for Randolph, ME. I believe he still owns the house but someone else is living there according to my dad, but then again he is in an ALF home because he has dementia now so I never know what to believe.

Still waiting for LE to comment back about the UID found in Citrus County with the Albuquerque tshirt on. It's been like forever! I hope they get back to me one way or another.
