The "picture" or "drawing" they have posted here look almost exactly alike, imo...I know the guy has been missing since 1975, but that would make him 11 years older...and maybe he moved away from FL to PA??

Doe Network revised the age estimate on this UID. They now have his age estimated at 16-21 years old.

DoeNetwork Case 3UMPA http://www.doenetwork.org/cases/3umpa.html
NamUs UP Case 6859 https://identifyus.org/cases/6859

(Note that NamUs has this UID listed at 510 inches tall (or 42 feet 6 inches)

With the new age range considered, here is a possible.

Mario F. Saavedra

His height is right, and the DLC is pretty close. The UID was found about 170 miles from Jersey City NJ.

The facial shape is pretty close, although the UID might have a little less chin and a more pronounced brow than Mario does

It's strange that they indicate that they describe the UID as having hair down to his shoulders, but the artist depicts him as clean-cut.

I dunno -- at first I thought you'd found another, but that was mostly because of the clean-cut look. After some study, it doesn't look real close to me. The UID's nose is rougher, the brows don't look right, and the ears look different.

But if the body was badly decomposed, can we count on those things? The ears are cartilage, parts of the nose as well. Eyebrows could have been non-existant. I always consider those aspects as "artists rendition".

Hm, good point.

It probably is close enough to send in, then.

I see the resemblance but something seem off if it is Mario. Mario was last seen in April and his car was abandonded in his Jersey City neighborhood. Not sure what he would have been doing between April and July when they estimated this UID died.

Wow you have to call that in........its perfect. The time line is also perfect the UID was in the water an extended time.

my hunch was that if Mario met harm, it happened in Jersey City. not sure who would cart him up to PA for disposal.

however, nothing else is coming up so I was just asking.

I wonder how good the facial recon actually is, given that the original estimated age is up to twice that of the current estimate. That might mean things like an assumption of thicker, fattier tissue and larger cartilege, so that the alignment may not be that good at all.

I agre that the circumstances are unclear but if Mario's case were mob related the distance to disposal wouldn't be totally implausible as a match.

good point Cymro. Carl, maybe you should ask to see pics of the skull for this one too. :D

No ruleouts on Namus as of 1 February 2014. They have corrected his height to 70 inches, which is 5'10" and explains the "510" originally.

Unidentified W/M found floating in the Susquehanna River, Upper Mahanoy Twp, Northumberland County, Pa. Autopsy performed noted Cause and Manner of Death as Accidental Drowning.

Googlemaps gives this as the location for Upper Mahanoy: ttps://goo.gl/maps/ONUyB
Which is not on the river :p

Another interesting tidbit (bbm): Iniital investigating officer lists description as: full head of Dark Brown Hair, shoulder length.

And he has DNA available now.

There is a place in Schuylkill County called Mahanoy City...could that be causing the google maps confusion?

Never mind, I looked at the map and realized what you were saying. Upper Mahanoy Twp. is not on the Susquehanna. I find it interesting that Upper Mahanoy Twp. and Sunbury are about 40 minutes apart. That's a pretty large area. Could he have possibly came from somewhere further north?

I've driven up 11/15 from Harrisburg to Danville and there are a lot of areas where the river is visible from the road. I'm wondering if that was what lead to him being found in the first place?

I would think farther north is a definite possibility. There's another drowning victim found in the Susquehanna who they think could have come from as far north as New York.

This is the woman you're thinking of that could have come from further north, she was found in the Allegheny River not Susquehanna though. I'm not sure if the same reasoning could apply to this man in this circumstance?
