This week, Seattle police made a public request for help in the disappearance of Nicole Cearo -- a 21-year-old woman who was last seen about a year ago.
Homicide detectives have been assigned to the case since September; police have done a major search of Seward Park and interviewed her former boyfriend with whom Cearo has a history of domestic violence.

But the case has gone cold.

Seattle Police seek assistance in disappearance of woman

On April 30, 2009, Seattle Police received a report of a missing woman, Ms. Nicole Cearo. Her family members had not seen or spoken with her since April 2, 2009. The case was eventually assigned to Homicide detectives in September of 2009 after Ms. Cearo could not be located. Further investigation indicated that she had not picked up any of her welfare checks from April 2009 through June 2009 when her welfare status was cancelled by the State of Washington.

Seattle woman presumed dead, police need tips

It was two years ago that Nicole Cearo jumped into her mother's arms as if she was much younger than her 20 years.

She locked her legs around her mother as they both laughed. Cearo wished her mother a happy birthday and told her how much she loved her.

She hasn't been seen since that day.

Seattle homicide detectives believe someone knows what happened to her. They've heard secondhand chatter and know she was at Champs, a bar in Skyway, the day she disappeared. But they need someone to come forward, to find out what happened to her and give closure to her family.

Bumping for Nicole. Still missing after 4 years.

Nicole has now been missing for 5 years.
