CA - Phuong Le, 24, Fairfield, 25 April 2010 - #1
The disappearance of a young nurse has sparked a search by authorities and family members, who say she disappeared without a trace more than 48 hours ago.
Phuong Le, 24, parked her car near a Barnes & Nobles bookstore in shopping plaza on Gateway Drive on Sunday night at about 4:00 p.m. and hasn't been heard from since, according to the Suisun City Police Department.
Surveillance footage shows Le inside the bookstore at about 8:30 p.m.
Le's brother retraced her steps after she never came home Sunday night and found Le's car still in the lot, unlocked and with her cell phone, backpack and wallet still in the car. The vehicle's keys were missing.
Police are examining Le's computer, cell phone records and car.
Family members said they haven't heard from Le since. She does not have a history of staying out of contact with family and friends.
Anyone with information on Phuong Le's whereabouts is asked to call the Suisun City Police Departments at (707) 421-7373.

Inside a B&N for four and a half hours? Wonder if she met someone there for coffee & whatnot?
ETA: or, being a nursing student, perhaps she was just studying for that length of time...

Police determined that Le regularly visits the Barnes and Noble coffee shop, and found a witness there who had seen her at approximately 8:30 p.m. on Monday.

Search for missing Suisun City woman leads to Fairfield bookstore
Posted: 04/28/2010 07:23:11 AM PDT
Updated: 04/28/2010 07:23:12 AM PDT
Police said that Phuong Le, 24, left her Suisun City residence at around 4 p.m. on Sunday without telling family members where she was going.
When the family didn't hear from her, Le's brother went looking for her early Monday morning and found her car parked at the Barnes and Noble bookstore in Fairfield.
The car was empty besides some of Le's personal belongings and did not appear damaged, police said.
On Tuesday, Fairfield police began working with Suisun City police to locate the missing woman. Police determined that Le regularly visits the Barnes and Noble coffee shop, and found a witness there who had seen her at approximately 8:30 p.m. on Monday.

Officers are looking for Bichphuong "Phuong" Le, 24, last seen inside Barnes and Noble bookstore around 8:30 p.m., according to Fairfield police spokesman Darrin Moody.
A family member found Le's car, a white Honda Civic, in the parking lot of the store Monday, and alerted authorities, said Fairfield police Sgt. Jeff Osgood. Some of Le's personal items were found inside of the car.
Osgood said Le is currently a nursing student at a Fairfield hospital.

So at 8:30pm, she's in the bookstore. Sometime after that she walks outside to her car in the parking lot, throws in her cell, backpack, and wallet. Still has her keys in her hand or pocket. And disappears.
Not good
ETA: Or someone else throws her cell, backpack, and wallet into her car.

and worse than that BeanE... they were in the trunk and the window was down in the car (from the video in the first post)
Does anyone know what county this is in? I think I found her nursing license (several reporters were saying she was a student... but the cbs13 video said that she was a "full fledged nurse" and that the BN was were she used to study.

The car was unlocked, window down. She (or someone) had tossed her stuff in the trunk. (cell, backpack, wallet)

When I was in college, I used to toss my things in the trunk all the time. Not sure why I did it, but reading that Phuong's backpack and wallet were there doesn't strike me as strange.
The cell, however, is a different story. I'd think she'd have that on her.

no nursing lic. for her name in Solano... however that doesn't mean she wasn't licensed in another county... there were several for her name in general in other counties.
here is the search form if anyone else wants to figure out the logistics.
http://www2.dca.ca.gov/pls/wllpub/wllqryna$lcev2.startup?p_qte_code=RN&p_qte_pgm_cod e=7800
if that link didn't work you can use this link
https://app.dca.ca.gov/rn/tlsearch.asp
and click on permanant lic. verification in the box to the right

I'm confused. Aren't CA nursing licenses granted by the state?
ETA: her license is there; it's the only one listed under that name.
http://www.rn.ca.gov/online_services/perm-verif.shtml
Click the first link (online license verification) and enter in her legal name, not her nickname and it comes up.

When I was in nursing school, we used to do the same. And now that B&N has free wifi, it would be even easier to study. I hope that they find this girl soon.

on the search form you search by the county. Yes they are granted by the state. ((aside: I am a BSN, RN of 18 years)) Glad you guys were able to find it/verify it. I had to run out for a bit and am actually headed to work shortly.
I hope she is found soon...

or maybe she had a habit of NOT taking her phone in to give herself some "quiet time" AND possibly so she wouldn't disturb other customers. ( I know ,very few people are that considerate......)

It can be that she met someone. I wish the witness stated she was with someone...Grrrrr...
Very strange though that her car was unlocked with her cell phone and backpack, wallet were left inside but her keys was not there.
