WOOSTER -- Susan Ryan is an avid dog lover, reader, a woman with the "mama care-taker gene for the world," who was supposed to move to Erie, Pa., on Sunday.

She's been missing since Saturday morning, and her daughter said she and family members are still trying to figure out how this happened.

"This is completely opposite her nature," Helen Ryan-Zimmel said Tuesday. She has been staying at her mother's Wooster residence since Sunday trying to find her. "We're not sure if this was long time coming or what."

Ryan, 58, is believed to have a driver's license and a handgun with her, Police Chief Steve Glick said. In addition, she took a map of Wooster with her and left behind instructions for taking care of her dog and what to do with her personal belongings, Glick said.

Ryan is 5 feet, 3 inches, 105 pounds and has brown hair and blue eyes.

WOOSTER -- Police are looking for volunteers to help in the search effort for a missing Wooster woman.

Capt. John Quicci said Wednesday anyone interested in helping find 58-year-old Susan Ryan can join a search party effort at 8 a.m. Friday. Meet in the parking lot behind the Justice Center.

WOOSTER -- Amy White's brief description of her search for her missing aunt, Susan Ryan, is blunt and to the point.

"Hell," she said, Friday morning, sitting on a tree stump. She was taking a break after more than two hours of searching through Christmas Run Park. "Absolute hell."

Friday was another search of another park in Wooster for her and family members, as they walked a trail in the park, checking creeks, and off trail pathways. Friday's search also was a coordinated volunteer effort put on by the Wooster Police Department, with 114 volunteers scouring the city looking for Ryan.

WOOSTER -- Police have no new leads in the search for a missing Wooster woman.

"We have received no new information that's actionable," detective Sgt. Robert Merillat said Tuesday afternoon.

Susan Ryan, 58, has been missing since June 5.

WOOSTER -- A national tour stopped at Christmas Run Park on Wednesday morning to bring attention to cases of missing persons.

The Community United Effort Center for Missing Persons, a nonprofit based in North Carolina, put Wooster on its list for this year's national tour after Susan Ryan went missing June 5.

All credit cards left behind, as well as cell phone.

A positive identification has been made on the human remains found Saturday south of the Wooster Fairgrounds, off from Kemrow Street.
