Harahan police issue Amber Alert for 5-year-old boy

Authorities are searching for Christopher William Campbell, according to Lt. Michael Fejka, an investigator with the department.
Christopher has close-cut brown hair and brown eyes. He is 4 feet 4 inches tall and weighs about 50 pounds.
He was reported missing by his mother, Monica Campbell, Metairie, after his father Christopher Scott Campbell, 37, of New Orleans, failed to return the boy after a weekend visit, Fejka said.
Christopher Scott Campbell is described as having blond hair and light brown eyes. He is 6 feet 1 inch tall and weighs about 155 pounds,
He was last seen driving a tan 2006 Toyota Tundra with an Alabama license plate that reads "CRITER."
Harahan police are handling the case because the Campbells used the department's parking lot, at 6441 Jefferson Highway, as the site of their court-ordered custody exchanges. Monica Campbell turned her son over to his father Friday evening. Christopher Scott Campbell was supposed to return the boy Sunday evening, but did not show up, Fejka said.
After failing to contact her son's father, she tried to report him missing Monday to the New Orleans Police Department. Officers there told her it was a civil matter, Fejka said. But Harahan police stepped in because Christopher Scott Campbell is in contempt of a Jefferson Parish court-ordered custody agreement, Fejka said.
Monica Campbell also indicated that Christopher Scott Campbell is being treated for bi-polar disease and has not been taking his medication, Fejka said.
Christopher Scott Campbell has relatives in Dadeville, Ala.; Niagara Falls, N.Y., Honolulu, Hawaii.
Anyone with any information on the whereabouts if either Christopher William Campbell or his father, Christopher Scott Campbell, is asked to contact officer Frank Feeley or Sgt. Robert Swancey with the Harahan Police Department by calling 504.737.4800.

What a cutie. The AMBER Alert isn't showing up on NCMEC or AmberAlert.com at this time. I hope he is found soon.

What idiots the New Orleans Police Department must be to call a kidnapping a civil matter. That outdated and unjust way of thinking/policy should have left right along with the 1970's.

 hope this little guy is found soon & hopefully he is safe. Close to home for me... but yet with family all over the place, they could be anywhere.

Missing Jefferson boy found in Minnesota; father faces kidnapping charge
A New Orleans man wanted for simple kidnapping in connection with the abduction of his 5-year-old son was arrested Tuesday afternoon in Ely, Minn., according to authorities.
