Back in post #219, LayzeeDayzee mentioned that it looked like the POI had 'meth mouth'. Now, I'm very fortunate not to have been close to anyone that had been into hard drugs so I found that comment interesting.
Today I accidentally came across these before and after photos, called the 'Faces of Meth'. I found them fascinating, in a troubling way, because they clearly show the devastation that meth can cause in a fairly short time.

Mounties hope couple's auto will help solve disappearance
Police who located the vehicle belonging to a missing Alberta couple are hoping witnesses, or clues from the scene will help them figure out how it got there, and more importantly, where its owners are.

Haven't been able to find it again, and presume some of the comments may have been removed. I can't recall what the content of that particular post was about, but the typo stood out to me like a sore thumb, and it was definitely prior to TV being announced as a POI. Hopefully the newspaper or another reader called in with the info.
Along with the rest of you, I'm heartsick about this beautiful couple.

I've seen that spelling of "awsome" before, too, but it was across the country.

Mother of fugitive Vader urges son to turn himself in
edmontonjournal.com

MACKAY, ALBERTA — The mother of fugitive Travis Vader is urging her son to turn himself in to police.
“I just want him to come forward. I want him to turn himself in,” Jennifer Vader told the Journal outside the family home in MacKay, a rural hamlet 150 kilometres west of Edmonton.
“I just want him to come forward.”

The tiny, sun-drenched hamlet of MacKay is so small it doesn’t have a sign — only a rusty, green mailbox just south of the spot where the Lobstick River crosses Highway 751.
Herb Nichols, who has lived in MacKay for three decades and owns the acreage beside the Vaders’ property, said Sunday the Vaders bought the property in the mid-1980s after the family returned from Texas where Travis Vader’s father, Ed, was working in the oilpatch. Travis Vader was a teenager at the time.
“I knew him since he was a kid, and he was a good kid,” Nichols said. “He was like Paul Bunyan, working in the bush. He was a hard worker, and he ended up in the oilfield like the rest of his family and he did well there until the oilfield went sour.”
|
Quote:
“They were using it to steal oilfield pipe and stuff and selling it to pay their meth bills,” he said.

INTERESTING! Just watching the 6pm Global News in Calgary and they had a small bit on the McCann's. The newsperson then reported that the POI's "sister", who didn't want to be on camera, had reported to someone at Global that she was WITH the POI from Jul 4 to 11 in EDMONTON..and then of course the news person followed that up by stating that the McCanns burned RV was found on Jul 5.
Will see if I can find any news article to about this.
It would appear this family member was claiming the POI could not have been involved because he was in Edmonton that whole time. Hmmm.

The newsperson was Jayme Doll. I went to the Global TV News website and it shows that each evening's 6pm news is available online (video) for viewing but not sure how long it will take for tonight's broadcast to be available. On the following page, I can only see Jun 1-17's broadcasts so not sure if tonight's will be available later today or tomorrow:

Police confirm to CTV News they have seized the video surveillance tape from the gas station and have passed it on to RCMP.

Hopefully if this is the case, the RCMP will confirm it to the general public, and maybe more people will pay attention and be able to find him!

McCann Family Hopeful
The McCanns' relatives have been waiting anxiously for news, on edge every time the phone rings with the possibility the RCMP are calling with news about the case.
Marie Ann McCann and Lyle Thomas McCann were last seen July 3. (RCMP)"I mean, there's all kinds of scenarios here one could imagine, and I try not to think about that," said their son, Bret McCann.
He said he refuses to consider the possibility his parents are dead.
"My dad is very resourceful," Bret said. "I think of them that they may be in the bush somewhere, but I think my dad — this has been quite awhile, but I think he'd be taking care of Mom and he'd be looking after himself out there. So that's what I picture."
Nicole Walsh, the McCanns' granddaughter, is also hopeful her grandparents will be found alive.
"I honestly do think we'll be together as a family," she said.
"Grandpa loves to tell stories and I think this is just another story in his life. We will talk about it. You know, I can't wait to hear him tell the story."
The Mounties have not publicly reported any progress in their search for Vader or the McCanns in recent days.
Investigators have been in touch with some of Vader's friends.

Vader has info on McCann's
RCMP Sgt. Tim Taniguchi said the location of Vader's arrest will be the subject of their continuing investigation.
Taniguchi said the RCMP received more than 130 tips about Vader's whereabouts, along with another 170 tips regarding the McCanns and their vehicles.
"The investigators have some information that Mr. Vader has a knowledge of the whereabouts of the McCanns," he told CBC News.
A McCann family member declined to comment on the arrest, but Vader's mother said she's relieved that her son has been taken into custody.
Jennifer Vader said she wanted her son to turn himself in
