EAST LOS ANGELES -- The mummified body found under an East L.A. home may be a man who was reported missing in 2005, according to L.A. County Sheriff's officials.
The discovery was made by construction workers Wednesday afternoon in the 200 block of North Eastman Ave. The construction workers were remodeling a back house when they found the badly decomposed remains.

can anyone find any further info to confirm if the UID found was in fact the man reported missing 5 years ago?

They must be referring to Paul Sigeo Kawasaki. His profile is still active on Charley Project (link above). I haven't found anything yet that states he has been positively identified.
*EDIT* However I do see that there is an online obituary for him posted here.

TY masnitram. That has to be him. The date in the obit matches with the date the remains were found. The address is also a match.

from Charley Project: "Kawasaki, 51, disappeared from Los Angeles, California on July 18, 2005. In July 2010, his remains were found stuffed in the crawl space of his own house. No one had lived there since he disappeared. Kawasaki liked to spend time in enclosed spaces, and a pillow was found with his remains, so investigators think he may have been napping in the crawl space when he died."
