No not much to go on, but this is a very weird response to a missing child in Utah. I don't remember them ever blocking off an area and searching with dogs.
HOWEVER.... it is West Valley. They don't have the same history as the other areas of Utah.

Here are 4 of the closest media outlets that do not have the story on their website yet... the news starts in just a minute so I'll see if there is anything new before I have to leave.

His family was in the area running errands. He was last seen with his little sister playing in the grassy field in the area. His parents took his eyes off of him for a moment.
Police are concerned about the heat but don't feel he is in any danger.
It has been 90-100 degrees today.
They are calling it a missing person's case.
KUTV
ABC 4
KSL
FOX 13
All had it on the 5PM news.
So if they think he just walked away, why aren't they just having a whole bunch of people go out and look for him?

Here is a map of the area. It's a super busy area. Someone would had to have seen him. The field might be on the lower half of the map.

This is just weird. Just a weird response.
The initial KSL article has been updated with what I heard on the news.
I will be back in a couple hours, hopefully he will be found safely by then....

I don't know who the younger child is in the picture Suzi. I just pulled it off of an article so we would have his face posted here, just in case.
I would assume it is his younger sister. I don't know her age. I'm sorry.

The video here shows how close it is to some water. I wonder the distance. I will have to google map it.
It also says that the family was in the area doing some "work" that they don't live in that neighborhood.

Strange, I don't see any water in the fox video posted. I wonder what kind of work the parents were doing?

Christopher Laguna had been playing in the area of 3600 South and 1950 West, possibly with friends, around 11 a.m. while his family ran errands. Police believe the boy may have been by himself for a while, and when his family returned to check up on him, he was gone, said West Valley City Police Sgt. Mike Powell.
The child, described as a Hispanic boy, 3 feet tall with a medium build, short black hair and brown eyes, was last seen wearing a brown T-shirt, red shorts and red shoes. He also has several fake tattoos on his arms and back.
Police have been searching since 12:30 or 1 p.m. with detectives, a forensics team and search dogs.
"We're in the process of just furthering the searching and putting together an additional search as we speak," Powell said.

Christopher Laguna was last seen near 1950 W. 3600 South, playing in a grassy lot next to a residential and commercial area. West Valley City police Sgt. Mike Powell said Christopher’s parents were conducting some personal business nearby and when they checked on him he was gone.
Powell said there is no evidence someone abducted the boy, “but we’re obviously going to keep an open mind.”

How much more vague can this get about what the parents were doing and who they left the boy with. Possibly with friends? He might have been left alone for awhile?

JMHO but I don't like the way the story is starting to unfold here.
Prayers for Christopher. What a cutie-patootie.

Live on the 9pm news:
He has been found SAFE. They are looking forward to reuniting him with his family.
He was at a home in West Valley, but they are not saying where or with whom.... not giving more details than that.

Great news that he is safe.
I am betting it was a RSO or some predator that took him. JMO
