Punishment Administered During Arraingment
John Messieri, 24 yr old EMT from Fairhaven, was being arraigned in New Bedford with other prisoners on Friday August 6. As the charges against Messieri were read (Rape of a child, the victim his girl friend's 7 year old daughter) another prisoner who was there for his own arraingment punched Messieri squarely in the face.
William Reed of New Bedford was in the courtroom for burglary charges, and now has won himself some assault and battery charges for landing the punch. He was escorted from the courtroom, and I am dying to know if he received a standing ovation.
I am NOT advocating violence-but I was very surprised to read in the article that this has never happened before.

Oh what a shame. 
Instead of adding on charges they should have dropped the original charges on Mr. Reed and set his tail free. Oh and shook his hand.
Makes one wonder if at every arraignment for a pedophile if they got punched in the face and had a few teeth knocked out it would help? Probably not though. Naw, they'd still take that chance next time they were alone with a child.
B, I know you are not promoting violence, and well I guess I am not, but hearing that made my dang day. So, I guess I am.

Don't even get me started. This POS is ultimately blaming a 7 year old. It was a misunderstanding. This poor little girl. She had to answer questions and tell LE that at times he asked her if he could touch her and she said no. He did it anyway.
The little girl is confused because he was applying diaper rash cream to her genitals. WTH? What? What? What? Man, this guy is lucky all he got was a da*n punch in the face. First off she is 7 years old she's not in a diaper. Secondly maybe the poor child was red and hurting because some adult male was sexually abusing her? That could be it.
My heart hurts for this little girl. She'll need good therapy for a long time. If her mother hadn't walked into that room this would have went on for ages. Again sorry for the rant. This makes me furious.

William Reed is a pretty shrewd operator, imo. Don't know what his rap sheet looks like, buy it's pretty obvious he knew he would be off to "do some time" once his case was settled. So, instead of arriving at his new home/prison as just another "fish" to be sized up and tested, HE is arriving with a "rep"!! This is a win-win situation for Mr. Reed; certainly the guards enjoyed watching him do something (punching a child rapist) that they wish they could do themselves, and certainly his fellow inmates will accord him some instant respect. Everybody knows that child abusers/rapists and/or murderers are the "lowest of the low" behind bars. Also, I'm certain that the news of this particular punch spread like wildfire through the courts and prison systems within 30 minutes of its occurrence!! Well played, sir!!!

I hope they dont go to hard on him with the assualt charge. I also hope a reporter follows up with this A&B because I would love to read his explanation for why he punched that guy in the face.
