NC - Nash Co, Two Sets of Remains Found Sept. 2010 *merged*
http://www.wral.com/news/local/story/8259419/
They aren't saying much but they don't think they are related to the other missing women in the area, so I am thinking they must suspect that the remains are either male or either children.
Not much more info, but here is another link.

That's an interesting picture.
They have red, yellow and blue flags. I wonder what each color is for? I'm guessing red is for remains, and maybe yellow and blue might be for clothes and other items of interest?

From the video at the link, it appears they think the remains have been there for "several months." As such they seem to think that they are too new to be linked to the serial killing suspect.
It's odd that they are that confident about the age of skeletal remains when they can't yet give ages or genders for them, but that seems to be the conclusion of the video.

I posted this link in the resource section, it is interesting. It tells how clothing can help determine length of time since death.
Quote:
Material Length of Time in Good Condition (in months)
Rayon 1-2 if buried 5 on surface
Paper 1 in alk or fresh water 5 on surface/in acid*
6 in alk or fresh water 10 to 15 on surface/in acid
Human Hair 10 to 15 if buried wind blows it away on surface
Cotton/Poly 15 on surface 25 to 35 if buried
Other Plastics/Leather 15 to 35 on surface >48 if buried
*paper is partially acid, so acidic soils do not affect it as quickly as alkaline

NC - Rocky Mount - Two Sets Skeletal Remains Found in Rural Area - Sep 2010
Quote:
... people riding four-wheelers in a rural area near Rocky Mount called Tuesday night to report the bodies.
... evidence at the scene indicates that the bodies are not connected to a series of cases involving black women who have disappeared from Rocky Mount in recent years.

The two persons may not have necessarily disappeared or died at the same time. However, assuming they did, here are a few cases of dual-disappearances for persons who disppeared from within 100 miles of Rocky Mount NC within the last 15 years.
Tycoy Williams and his sister Teyana Jeananne Williams went missing from Knightdale (47 miles from Rocky Mount).

There is also the two brothers Esmit Sanchez Gonzalez and Domingo Sanchez Gonzalez, who went missing from Louisberg, NC (37 miles away from Rocky Mount) but their case is classified as a parental abduction.

http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/...z_domingo.html

There is also the case of Hoyle Smith and his girlfriend Margie Shaw Boone, who went missing from Sanford, NC in 1995, and were presumed murdered.

Sanford NC is about 100 miles from Rocky Mount.

Looks like remains are of 2 men
Man wanted in connection to discovered skeletal remains
<snip>
The Nash County Sheriff's Office says they're looking for Jorge Alfredo Uria Sanchez. He's wanted in connection to the skeletal remains discovered on Quarter Road in Nash County back on September 7th of this year.
Deputies say they believe the skeletal remains belong to 51 Juan Rodriguez (AKA) Refugion Ponce Diaz and 29 year old Fermin Jimenez, both of Battleboro. They believe the two men were acquainted with Sanchez. The Sheriff's Office is working with the Mexican Consulate to positively identify the victims through DNA and family members.

The skeletal remains of two males found in Rocky Mount are believed to be those of two Mexican nationals:
Refugio Ponce Diaz, 51, and Fermin Jimenez, 29,
However, positive ID has still not been made.
Police have obtained warrants against Jorge Alfredo Urias Sanchez, 32, for two counts of first-degree murder. He is at large
