IN RE search being called off:
What makes you say that 409812? Is that what is being reported or is that a personal observation?

Well, I'm counting myself lucky that I didn't see Jose Baez... lol
And, another local said the search was called off as well. They said they heard it on the news but I don't remember if there was a link for it yet.

http://www.cnn.com/2010/CRIME/10/13/...g.girl/?hpt=T2
Reilly told reporters $10,000 is usually a maximum bond for such a charge. He said his client is scared, emotional, upset and worried about her family. Asked what she has said about Zahra, he said he was not at liberty to discuss the girl.
The case is an emotional one for investigators and a high priority, Catawba County District Attorney Jay Gaither Jr., told the assembled reporters, who came from as far away as Australia.
"The facts are disturbing as we know them at this point," he said. "... We want the best but we fear the worst."

On Wednesday, the Burke County sheriff said search efforts were moving back to Hickory. He did not say whether investigators found anything in Burke County.

Morning everyone! It's just shy of 6 am here and I had to check in on Zahra.
Painter posted the above link on the last thread.
snipped from link above:
Quote:
THE missing 10-year-old Zahra Baker recently told a charity worker that she had a prosthetic leg because an alligator had eaten the real one.

What a great kid! I smiled for about five seconds then I realized why we are here.

If some others in the Charlotte viewing area will coordinate with me, we can each take a local channel for the 12pm newscast and take note if there is anything new in any of the reports. I'll take WCNC. The others are WBTV, WSOC and News14.

Flanked by two attorneys, Elisa Baker, Zahra's stepmother, wore a bright pink jumpsuit and was handcuffed and chained at her wrist and ankles at her court appearance Wednesday. She was informed of the felony charge against her, which carries a penalty of more than two years in prison upon conviction. Asked if she understood, she replied she did in a low voice.
The bond on this charge is $40,000, in addition to the bond of more than $30,000 she faces on charges unrelated to Zahra's disappearance. Her attorney, Scott Reilly, said he would be filing a motion to get the obstruction of justice charge reduced, calling it "excessive." She is next scheduled to have a probable cause hearing on November 3.

Not problematic, but likely slow as positive identification will likely only be available via dna comparison.

Yes, I'm trying to avoid being graphic but I hope they have a good comparison (which they should have.) Hair brush or some personal item.

We have talked about prayers for the LE in this case.
I'm also praying for SM's attorney. I can't imagine being in his position.

Per WSOC-TV
Reporting on court appearance..showing video in court. Says she is not co-operating. Her attorney saying she is scared. DA says they think they will solve this case. As far as search....called off right now. Father was involved in search and "just working" with police. Vigil tonight.
