Tearful testimony marks hearing for stepmom accused in toddler's death
From The Detroit News: http://detnews.com/article/20110427/...#ixzz1Kp0U2uk4
A paramedic broke down in tears Wednesday as she recalled an afternoon last year when she entered a New Haven home and found an unclothed and unconscious 2-year-old girl lying in the middle of the living room floor.
After the comment, King's attorney, Michael Dennis, pointed out that his client made several inconsistent comments to Eisen that day about what happened. She also told the paramedic that she had attempted to resuscitate Lily, he said
Why would her own attorney point that out? Maybe he will try to say she was so worried she couldn't remember what had happened?!
Justice for Lily!!!

An update:
http://www.freep.com/article/2011052...468/1001/rss01
Court date set in toddler's killing
"A June 27 pretrial is set in Macomb County Circuit Court for a woman accused of killing her 2-year-old stepdaughter in New Haven in November. Renee M. King, 29, waived arraignment Monday on charges of first-degree murder and first-degree child abuse. She is accused in the death of Lily Furneaux-Wolfenbarger, who suffered a blow to the head Nov. 20.
King is being held in the county jail on a $1-million bond."

Wolfenbarger cared for Lily weekly from 6 p.m. Monday to 6 p.m. Thursday and every third weekend.
Furneaux said her daughter was in good health when they left her home in Lapeer at 8:30 a.m. that day to meet Wolfenbarger at a gas station to exchange Lily for the weekend. The 24-year-old said she took her daughter out of the car seat, handed her to Wolfenbarger and it was the last time she saw her alive.
Furneaux said that Lily "didn't want to go" and was often troubled when she returned from visits at his home.
"She was very upset when she came back and very clingy," Furneaux said, adding she had on occasion noticed cuts, bumps and bruises on her daughter.
Furneaux confirmed for Dennis she and Wolfenbarger were previously involved in court proceedings over custody, but she'd never alleged abuse or contacted Child Protective Services.

How torn a young mother must be when a child begs to not go on a court ordered visitation. Horrible results like this need to be shown to more family court judges.

I was just looking for an update on this case, & found this info which is from April 2011. I didn't know that the sex charge against Renee King had been dismissed, & I didn't see this posted here.
http://www.voicenews.com/articles/20...mode=fullstory
Quote:
|
A judge endorsed felony murder and child abuse charges against a New Haven woman in her 2-year-old stepdaughter’s death but dismissed a sexual assault charge despite a severe wound to the child’s genital area.
|
Quote:
The judge said evidence showed that Lily’s head injuries “were inconsistent with … someone falling,” enough to warrant the felony murder and child abuse charges. But testimony failed to show probable cause that a severe laceration to Lily’s vaginal area could have been done by “this defendant.”
On Wednesday, county Medical Examiner Dr. Daniel Spitz testified that Lily suffered a wound so deep that it punctured a wall between the anus and vagina.
|
Quote:
|
“It’s wonderful we got through another step in the process but to not get all three charges hurts,” said Lynette Furneaux of Lapeer, Lily’s grandmother. “All three things were done to her.”
|
Here is another link that I just found, this is from May 2011:
http://angelzfury.blogspot.com/2011/...rt-system.html
Quote:
|
On Mother's Day, Lauren Furneaux helped friends and strangers plant roses and statuary in a memorial garden to her daughter, Lily, who will never see the roses bloom nor the 6-foot-cross with her name on it nor the stone angels dedicated to her.

What a horrendous acts this woman has committed.
I'll never understand the atrocities one human being commits against another, especially against a child. This woman should never know freedom again!

Justice for Lily... hopefully begins February 14th.
http://www.facebook.com/JusticeForLily?sk=wall
The last night Lily's Mommy spent with her:
Now... instead of her larger than life little girl with that tree...
She just has a larger than life picture of her little girl to go with that tree.
April 2011 -
They had no idea putting up a Christmas tree would be the last activity they would enjoy with their granddaughter, Lily Furneaux-Wolfenbarger and her mother Lauren, before they dropped Lily off at her father's house on Saturday, Nov. 20.
"That tree was the last thing she did the night before we took her over there," Chico said.
"All the bulbs were down low because she decorated it, and it will be there forever."

I cannot believe its taken this long for SM to face the music of what she's done.. Am extremely thankful to see that the sexual abuse charge was reinstated as for me it is that which clearly shows Renee's hatred and rage that was monstrously unleashed on precious Lily.. So for that to be absent IMO would not have given the clear and accurate picture of what and possibly even why this was done to Lily!!
May God give them strength to make it thru these next most difficult months in seeing this justice thru til the end for their Lily!

Jury selection is expected to begin Tuesday for a New Haven woman accused of inflicting head injuries that killed her 2-year-old stepdaughter in the family's trailer home more than a year ago.
Prosecutors allege King inflicted multiple blows to Lily's head and sexually assaulted her while the two were alone together at the home King shared with Lily's father, her husband Jeffrey Wolfenbarger.
The defense contends that the fatal injuries stemmed from an accidental fall.
Macomb County Assistant Prosecutor Therese Tobin said the Macomb County Circuit Court trial is expected to span two weeks.
-----------------------------------------------------------
King's attorney, Jason Malkiewicz, said she has her family's support, including Wolfenbarger's, and maintains her innocence.
--------------------------------------------------
Macomb Circuit Court records show Wolfenbarger filed for divorce in January.
http://www.detroitnews.com/article/2...RO03/202130330
I am not sure who is supporting her... I cannot find anything to indicate if Lily's Dad or his family believes in her innocence?
It seems to indicate that either he or someone in his family does but he finally filed for divorce... so I'm not sure.
