Love for Kiesha beats flames
NOT even a devastating fire can stop the outpouring of grief for murdered six-year-old Kiesha Abrahams.
Just hours after a teddy bear tumbled on to a candle, sending Kiesha's memorial wall up in flames, mourners had begun to rebuild the display.
The blackened fence outside Kiesha's former home on Woodstock Ave, Mt Druitt, was decorated with fresh flowers, toys and cards soon after firefighters left yesterday.

Tears in the lonely bush for Kiesha Abrahams
The wider tracks give way to smaller tracks until, eventually, there is no track left at all and you find walking through scrub with twigs and leaves underneath until, in this case, you come to an opening of freshly scraped earth.
For four hours on Sunday Alison Anderson walked the trails trying to find this place.
It was necessary because this is the place police believe was the final resting place of Kiesha Abrahams, the girl reported missing by her mother, Kristi Abrahams, and stepfather, Rob Smith, in August. On Friday they were charged with her murder.

Police look at death of Kiesha's brother
HOMICIDE detectives plan to reopen an investigation into the death of Kiesha Abrahams's brother after the arrest of her mother and stepfather on Friday over the little girl's murder.
Ayden, the son of Kristi Anne Abrahams, 28, and her former partner, Chris Weippeart, was believed to have died from sudden infant death syndrome more than a year before Kiesha was born.
But following the arrest about 1am on Friday of Kiesha's mother, Ms Abrahams, and stepfather, Robert Smith, 31, police are considering taking another look at Ayden's death.

Home to tradedy - inside Kiesha Abrahams' death flat
HERE is the first look inside the Mt Druitt unit where Kiesha Abrahams was allegedly killed by her mother and stepfather.
Within these walls, the six-year-old girl spent the last days of her life before her body was allegedly carried away inside a suitcase and buried in a bush grave at nearby Shalvey.

More tests needed on remains
A post mortem performed on skeletal remains found by police investigating the alleged murder of Kiesha Abrahams was inconclusive, police say.
Further tests will be needed to determine whether the remains, found scattered through bushland at Shalvey, in Sydney's west, belong to the six-year-old.

Murdered girl's mother faces court
Kristi Abrahams appeared at Penrith Local Court via video link, with her hair tied back and dressed in a green prison tracksuit.
She looked teary but composed, her hand covering her mouth.
During the brief appearance Kristi Abrahams answered yes when the Magistrate spoke her name and gave a small wave to her lawyer.
Her co-accused, Kiesha's step-father Robert Smith, was not required to appear.

No peace for little Kiesha as funeral may be delayed
A FUNERAL for little Kiesha Weippeart may not be held for several weeks because of the amount of trauma to her body.
Police yesterday confirmed they have more tests to do on the remains of the alleged murder victim because extensive injuries to her bones have made it difficult to find the exact cause of death.

Police allege Kiesha was thrown against wall or bed
SIX-YEAR-OLD Kiesha Weippeart was thrown against a wall or the corner of a bed before she died, police believe.
Today, in a brief of evidence to be handed to lawyers defending her mother and stepfather on murder charges, investigators will allege Kiesha was put in a bath after she sustained a head injury during the assault some time between July 12 and July 14 last year.
Kiesha was later put to bed in the family's Mount Druitt apartment, but died, police sources have told the Herald.

Police say Kiesha Weippeart, who has sometimes been referred to as Kiesha Abrahams, was killed in her Mt Druitt home in July last year.
Her remains were found in a shallow grave in bushland at nearby Shalvey nine months later.
Kristy Abrahams and the child's stepfather, Robert Smith, are on trial for her murder.
The case was mentioned in Penrith Local Court this morning but then adjourned until August.

Witness says "She was bashed"
Police have returned to the home where six-year-old Kiesha Abrahams was last seen and removed what appeared to be a large section of carpet and a mattress.
About 10 crime scene investigators and detectives spent hours inside the Hebersham unit yesterday and left with a number of large household objects wrapped in brown paper and tarpaulin.

Police said this was a routine part of their investigations.

Fresh search as Kiesha case adjourned
Detectives have conducted a fresh search in the area where the remains of Sydney youngster Kiesha Abrahams were found.
NSW Police would not confirm a Nine Network report that items that appeared to be skeletal remains were found during Friday's search.
It comes as lawyers for the Crown on Friday asked for the murder case against Kiesha's mother and stepfather to be adjourned until September 23 so that further forensic material can be examined.

thank you for the updates! Considering they gave him manslaughter and he accepted, I don't see why mom would even take it to trial.

Magistrate appeals for calm in community as trial date set for Kiesha's mother
A WESTERN Sydney magistrate has called on the community to restrain its anger over the death of six-year-old Kiesha Weippeart so the girl's mother can be fairly tried for murder.

Kristi Anne Abrahams, 29, and her 33-year-old partner Robert Smith are accused of killing the girl on or about July 13, 2010, in their home at Mount Druitt.

It is alleged the pair killed the child, buried her in bushland in nearby Shalvey and, two weeks later, called police to declare her missing.

Charges were laid after human remains were discovered in bushland in April last year - on what would have been Kiesha's seventh birthday.

Kiesha Weippeart's mother Kristi Anne Abrahams to face trial for murder
Kristi Anne Abrahams' committal hearing was set to begin at Penrith Local Court yesterday but her lawyers said they decided to waive local proceedings and go straight to trial.
Instead of hearing evidence from two key witnesses over two days, the matter was committed to trial at the Supreme Court in Sydney on September 7.

Magistrate Peter Feather told the court the case had taken an "emotional toll" on police and made an impact on the community.

http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/new...-1226467163889
Dressed in a patterned blouse, Kristi Anne Abrahams kept her eyes focused on Acting Justice Graham Barr as he ordered her to stand trial for Kiesha's murder from June 17.
The Supreme Court heard the trial is expected to last for two months.
Abrahams, 29, is yet to enter a plea to the charge.
