Clues in mom's disappearance include slipper
The clues surrounding Tanya Shannon sound like the makings of a fairytale: a red dress, a lone slipper, footprints in the snow. For friends and relatives of the northern Illinois mother of four, who vanished after a weekend car crash killed her husband, they're the makings of a nightmare.
Shannon was last seen leaving a friend's holiday party in her red dress and was believed to be riding with her husband when their car crashed a short time later as it snowed. A deputy found the wreck along a well-traveled stretch of highway early Sunday — 41-year-old Dale Shannon was dead behind the wheel and footprints led away from the car.

Small town rallies for missing mom's four girls
Plastic jugs draped with a picture of four smiling Shannon daughters and messages about their plight rest along the bar at neighboring taverns in tiny Ransom.
The girls, ages 4 to 15, lost their father in a car crash Sunday in rural LaSalle County. Their mother apparently walked away and vanished, leaving behind only a slipper in a snowy footprint.
A three-day search for Tanya Shannon through miles of icy farm fields has yielded few clues. Police suspended the search Tuesday evening to wait for the ground to thaw, which might not happen until early next week, LaSalle County Sheriff Tom Templeton said today.
The case continues to baffle authorities and relatives. They say Tanya Shannon, 40, never would have disappeared or not contacted her family. Police haven't ruled out that she might have been picked up.

Tanya Shannon search resumes
A northern Illinois woman is still missing after an automobile accident claimed the life of her husband. Tanya Shannon, 40, is believed to have tried to get help for her husband who died behind the wheel of the couple's vehicle according to the News-Tribune of La Salle, Illinois.
The only lead so far is a slipper in the snow and footprints leading away from the accident scene. Snow has been melting today so the search can resume after being suspended at night because of the cold.
A county sheriff's deputy came upon the wreck which is believed to have happened last weekend and Shannon hasn't be found since she left to get help. Frigid overnight temperatures have left little hope in finding her alive states a report on CBS News.

The Sheriff is certain that the remains belong to Tanya Shannon.

Not only does the clothing match what she was last seen wearing, but her purse was found near the remains.

Missing womans body found
Authorities in LaSalle County said they've found the body of Tanya Shannon. The mother of four went missing early last month after a one-car crash that killed her husband.
The body, clad in what appeared to be a red dress, was found a short distance from the spot where Shannon's husband was found dead behind the wheel of their car.
"We have identified her as Tanya Shannon based on the physical description as well as the description of the clothing she was wearing the night that she disappeared," said LaSalle County Coroner Judy Bernard.
An autopsy will likely be performed Wednesday.
