This was interesting. I didn't realize that the police can't locate someone in the hospital.
Quote:
The body was found about 11:20 p.m. Friday, around the same time that an injured man was found a couple of blocks south of the pier at the foot of the cliffs at Del Monte Avenue.
A witness told San Diego police the two men had been seen drinking together earlier in the evening, lifeguard Lt. Nick Lerma said.
The injured man was taken to a hospital, but officials have been unable to locate him because of federal privacy laws, an investigator with the Medical Examiner’s Office said.

Is there any new info after Dec 15th? Perhaps he has been identified?
Height and weight are off, but here is a Matthew missing from AK (he is from TN). The face structure is so similar though, and this Matthew has been missing since 2000, so he may have gained weight. 4" is a lot for the height though, unless the original report is off on the height.

OB is a magnet for homeless people, crust punks and travelers (modern day hobos). He could be from anywhere in the country. They also have a hostel that attracts kids from all over the world, so he truly could be from anywhere. It is a very transient population.

Good find, Julessleuther. They do look very similar, and the coincidence in the names and circumstances makes it worth checking out despite the height difference IMO.
Although I would hope they're already aware of him. It seems like checking all the missing persons named Matthew would be the obvious first thing for the police to do. But if they're looking for recent missing persons they might have missed him.

besides the height, Matthew Pendergast had blue eyes and the UID had brown eyes.

the UID is in neither Doe Network nor Namus which make me wonder if he was identified.
this might be a long shot but I looked in the Soc. Sec. Death Index for Matthews who died on Dec 10, 2010 and this one caught my attention. his name was Matthew Joseph Carr, age22, originally from PA but per the SSDI his last residence was California.
here is an obit with a face pic:

Interesting. Matthew Carr's obit includes the National Psoriasis Foundation as a place to make donations in Matthews memory. The information about the UID doesn't list any scars or marks other than acne scars on the face. Surely if the UID had suffered from psoriasis that would have been included in the identifying features of the UID. Maybe just a coincidence?
ETA: I also noticed the UID's eyebrows appear to be straight, without a curve. MC's eyebrows are far more curved than what is depicted in the sketch for the UID.

assuming this UID has not been identified, the only real negative to this possible match is eye color and possibly a birthmark.
Mickey Guidry, age 16, was last seen in San Diego County possibly headed to the City of San Diego on November 26, 2009. was supposedly 5'10" and 150 lbs with sandy color hair.
he had both acne and a birthmark on his neck. not sure of it size, etc.
first name started with "M".

I think the title of this thread should say "San Diego", not "Ocean Beach". Ocean Beach is a neighborhood within the city of San Diego. I almost didn't read the thread because I assumed that there must be another Ocean Beach in Northern CA.
I think the Mickey Guidry suggestion is a good one. I have followed that case. I have camped in that exact area of the Anza-Borrego and I also think he could have just died somewhere in the vast desert. I hope not!

info only-
This John Doe is still unidentified according to the ME's office. No other information has been gathered and there are no updates in their files.
As stated here before- OB is a very transient area, lot of folks in and out of that little town and that aspect of it hasn't changed in years and years.

Matthew Dean Snyder went missing from Springfield, MO, less than 100 miles from Arkansas. All of his demographics match, and his acne and sparse facial hair are there as well. Thoughts? http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/...r_matthew.html

I remember looking at him against this John Doe a long time ago, but I don't remember why I ultimately passed on it.
His hair is too dark, but I wouldn't rule-out based on that.
Now that you bring it up, I would say he is a pretty reasonably good possible.

I will send emails to case managers on both sides. My biggest concern are the ears. They are quite different, but the recon could be inaccurate.
I'll keep you posted.

I am trying to track down case managers on both sides, but I'm having no luck. Matthew's info was pulled from Charley Project, which referenced the MO state highway patrol. But, when I go to that website, he isn't listed there anymore. I cannot find his info anywhere else. Is it possible that he has been found?
There also isn't an official page for the UID. Frustrating!!!

that IS frustrating!-- I can reach out to the MEs office-just to see if they would contact the MSP and ask for/check on the possibilty of Mr. Snyder. I will report anything they tell me...

Mr. Ferguson ran away from a boarding school in Virginia on December 4th, 2010!

He really favors the reconstruction!
Give me your thoughts!

The MP's eyes are listed as blue and the UID's are described as brown. Also the UID is reported to have no tattoos or other distinguishable scars or birthmarks and the MP has a scar on his chest. The resemblance to the sketch is remarkable.
